Greetings from Croatia. Watching this video as diy guy who fixes others' boats in free time(and usually i get to work on boat problems that no one wants to deal with it) this is heaven. Croatia is small country with more than 129.000 registered boats without tourist boats in the summer season... But, we dont have a ton of material to work with as you do. You have everything for everything and its beautiful, here... hahaha our stores have a chopping matt in two size of thickness, maybe rowing matt and poly resin. And you have to get a job done, and with material you have on disposition and availability to use is simply mind-blowing. Great video. Watching it makes me want to move in the US just to be able to work on boats, with pleasure. Again, great video
Thank you sooo much for watching! I appreciate the support! And I’m glad the video was able to help! We’re lucky we have all the materials to work with here and I can pick them up most days of the week. I bet your weather is better than ours though lol thanks again! 🛥️🌊🤙
As another younger croatian viewer who adores boating and lived in fort lauderdale and nyc for a while, I must agree, the boating industry in the US is 20 years ahead. The boats, materials, infrastructure, everything. I wish we could have all of this in croatia.
Definitely a lot of great info. Sounds like to me the best way to do your project, is to call these folks and tell them what you want to do and let them pick out what you need and send it to you. Thanks bro for another great video. 👍👍👍👍👍🍻🍻
I think after talking to Laz, both are strong but the real strength comes from the lamination and tie in to the hull. There’s tons of companies that pour transoms. In my dusky boats factory walkthrough, Mike shows how he pours his transoms and has never had a failure. IMO, they’re both great options and just as strong.
Great interview, even if i barely hung on. I have absolutely no experience with boating, let alone fixing one. But what i did take away from all of this is twofold. One, diy is very possible and two, repairs are necessary. I’m 75 years and considered a boating entry. I’m a diy type guy but being 75 means there’re ever increasing limitations. 75 is the reason i decided the beauty sailing should be replaced by power boating, less physical demands. Let me reverse the laz’s experience and diy info. Before buying a boat, i wonder if laz’s experiences lends itself to boat manufacturers. Who cuts corners? Who builds serious boats that lessen the need for diy work later? What boats cause the diy owners to constantly return to laz for repairs to that @#!* boat?
Thank you so much for watching! Never too old to start a diy project! I’m sure Laz knows wayyyy more than the average person on who makes a great and not so great boat! 🤙🛥️🌊
People want to know why you would use certain products and for what application. Educate, why is this destiny better? Water ingress, vertical loads, horizontal loads, compression. They all have their place.

You're killing me. It's 11 degrees in the Northeast today. Sadly, it will be least two months before we can mix up a batch of goops.
Man, I’m sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel any better, it’s rained for like 5 days straight 😂
Just ordered some balsa core for my project.. best price per sheet of most anyone I could find
Other sellers want upwards of $60/sheet (2'x4') for 1/2" thickness
Awesome Joe! Glad they were able to help you out! 🌊🤙🛥️
Kcell vs poured transom. which is stronger, better, if price is not a factor?
