I'm at a place now where I almost prefer hearing artist's talk about their art rather than watch demonstrations. I watch demonstrations too, but understanding the mental processes are super important.
Thank you Becky, I love your work and I will continue following you. I’m’starting my own sketchbook and you’re very inspiring. I’ m pretty sure I will enjoy it very much. I hope you will travel the world and always keep sharing your passion for sketching.
I just recently started following you and I love your style! I love the sketches of just mundane everyday things. Its less overwhelming for a beginner. I love that you show us your process and I love your personality in your videos! Thank you for your vídeos ❤
You are so inspiring, Becky!! I loved this video so very much! ❤ I do believe that drawing from life is one of the things that makes your paintings so unique and special. My favorites are actually the drawings of everyday life that you do. I love the food pictures and the objects in your home... to me, those objects speak more of the personality of the artist than landscape paintings. And I think you really come to understand the soul of your subjects through repetition. Your sketchbooks fill me with so much joy and inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing them with the world! 😃💕
Wow. I just found your channel today and have been binge watching a lot. I LOVE your style of drawing in your sketchbook. You are a very inspiring person. Thank you for sharing 🙋🏻♀️
I like the amount of focus you place on your daily journals. I'm going to try working in repitition, with more basic subject matter, so I can build similar sentiments.
You have sketched in many public places……how do you sketch in a place like a grocery store? Do you stand or sit? How do you feel comfortable? Are you very conscious of people looking at you sketching? Do they talk to you much? And when you go out sketching do you bring some kind of chair? Sorry for all the questions!
I sat down at a table by the cafe in my grocery store. There is one time I had to take my portable stool to sit around the flower stand to have a better view. Yes, people came by all the time and asked why I do it, they stayed for a minute or two watching and then left with kind words. I'm not too conscious. I just focus on my process and forget about them. 😅 I know it's not easy. I do have a little foldable stool that fits in my backpack, but because it's not 100%comfortable to sit on, most of the time I try to find table and chairs, and benches.
I love the explanation so much!! I crave journaling outside again. I haven't done it in a long time but I definitely will do it this weekend!!! Your explanation was perfect. It is literally like a living journal!❤
Thank you for sharing. ^-^ This video was such a pleasure to watch. I resonated deeply with so much of what you said. Grateful for you and your videos. ^-^
Excellent Becky! There are many, like You, who only sketch from Real Life, and not pictures. One that comes to mind is Alvin Mark. He also paints Oils and Gouache, too. He does excellent ppl pictures ( trains, planes, cafes, etc). I only know two other Sketchbook Artist that I've sort of followed, Liz Steel ( travels, coffee cups, food, etc) and Danny Gregory, who has sketched in over 100 sketchbooks. Liz Steel has documented 100, too. You're an inspiration to beginning and advanced sketchbook Artists plus those just learning how to "see" for Urban Sketching. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you so much for your appreciation Nancie!😊💝 I follow Danny Gregory and Liz Steel as well, they are very inspirational sketchbook artists. I will check out Alvin Mark.
A little more than a week ago I commented that you should get outside and paint. I meant this in a positive way. I can see where it may not have come across that way. I like your work but got tired of food. I guess I wanted to see the memories and emotions you speak of in this video. Wish I could have been a part of your earlier days, I really liked the work in your first skbk. My bad!.
Thanks for your comments. Being a young adult is a lot of work. I wish I could have more time to be out there and just spend a whole day sketching, like my earlier days. I'm always trying to push for that. Hopefully the covid pandemic will be over soon so I can feel more comfortable.
I feel that... "I love ordinary moments!"
