Levi's contribution to this deck is not only his annotations but he has carefully repainted the faces on most of the cards along with turing the horses on the chariot card into sphinxes!

@JayDourado Thank you for sharing, I did not realize that. I would love to see an unaltered Bernardin side by side with this one. These faces are so elegant. Lévi was a talented guy. ~ Marilyn

What a beautiful deck, Marilyn. In my opinion, no modern-day deck comes even close to these gorgeous historic decks. I really like the sweatshirt you are wearing. 🤎🤎🤎

@cre8ive_intentions Hello! Truth be told, apparently Lévi himself altered the faces on the Suzanne deck and refined them. I learned this from my subscribers! Lévi was a fine artist in his own right. That's not to say that the Suzanne wasn't lovely, but I think the beauty of these faces was all Lévi. Thank you for watching! ~ Marilyn

I absolutely adore the Bernardin Suzanne part of the Éliphas Lévi's Personal Deck! Those rosy cheeks make me very happy! And I very much hope Marco will make a reproduction of the original B. Suzanne deck available. 🥰
I am very fortunate to own handmade 'Bernie' majors redrawn by Shell and handmade by Justin for me as a precious gift. And this video made me pull those special cards out.
Did you notice how Lévi linked the four queens to four virtues and the kings to greek gods? I found that detail so interesting personally.
I will never tire of seeing these special cards! Thank you so much, Marilyn, for this lovely relaxing video showcasing this very fine historic tarot. 🙏💖

Hello Mascha! I've learned more from viewer commentary than I've shared myself! I have such a smart audience and I appreciate all the comments made on this deck. The faces are so pretty, but I've learned the pretty faces weren't from the hand of Suzanne, but from Lévi himself. This deck is a tressure, a real masterpiece. ~ Marilyn

What a beautiful and interesting deck! I'm glad Mascha asked about your sweatshirt - I keep forgetting and I really wanted to know as I knew it would have a special meaning. Great sweatshirt and I agree it does look good on you. Also, I keep forgetting to tell you how much I like your haircut!
Your sweatshirt makes me want to do a past life reading for myself. Love, Donna

@donnarion1147 I did a very cool video on the topic called Witchmas, (I think it was called). I'll put the link in the descriptive area of this video. It talks about how this date came to have meaning for me. Thank you as always Donna, for being here. I appreciate your presence. xoxo ~ Marilyn

@@MarilynFromTarotClarity My mother's family came to NY in 1622. My great grandmother had "second sight" (my mother's term). I wonder how many of these females were prosecuted as witches?

Just beginning to watch..Marilyn, your lovely top makes me very curious - what does 1692 refer to? Is it a special year in history? 🧐🧡

Hi Mascha. 1692 was the last year in the US that Witches were executed. Underneath the date my sweatshirt states, 'They missed one.' I usually only wear it between September and November, but my tarot parlor is very chilly so I needed to wear something warm. ~ Marilyn

A delicate and feminine touch that's what Suzanne gave into her tarot from her faces to the draperies this TDM is so elegant! I wish more women had made their own tarot and I hope Marco will be able to offer us one without all Levi annotations one day coz truly Suzanne needs her time to shine within the tarot collectors and the only one that could make it by keeping her great work is our talented Marco ❤

@@langeblanc494 Hi Sebastian. It is disputed that Suzanne was a woman. Suzanne appears to be the surname according to what I've read. Have you learned something else? ~ Marilyn

    • @langeblanc494
      @langeblanc494 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

@MarilynFromTarotClarity I didn't heard that part nope but that's an easy question to ask to my tarot or oracles. A man signing his work under a woman's name at that era? That would be surprising. The other way arround ok many women were writting articles in newspapers, writting books under men's name but a man hiding behind a woman's one I doubt it, except by souvenir of a loved one, a sister, a wife, a daughter, a mother,...You're giving me stuff to investigate here Marilyn 😅 and the curious that I am is loving it !! 🤣🤣

@langeblanc494 Suzanne can be a surname. I'd love to believe it could have been a woman, but the prevailing consensus seems to be it was a man with the last name of Suzanne.

@MarilynFromTarotClarity I know from where it comes from : Philippe Camoin. He is the only one mentioning Bernardin Suzanne was a woman, all other like Yves or the French National Library (BNF) have mentioned it was a man. I am glad you pushed my curiosity and I feel sorry for that poor Bernardin, may he forgives me. 😅 Still his drawings are very delicate and there's always a woman behind each good man! So I am sure his wife helped him in some way to create one of the nicest TDM! Thank you Bernardin and thank you Madame Suzanne! 🤣 ps : I sent you on messenger some pictures of where The Suzanne used to work and live in Marseille.😘

@langeblanc494 I can't wait to see the photos you sent! BTW, someone in comments shared that Lévi himself is responsible for the beautiful faces of this deck! Apparently Lévi reworked the faces. So it appears that Lévi is responsible for the beautiful line work. Isn't that something? I wish Lévi would have drawn from scratch his own deck. The man had talent. ~ Marilyn

Yes, however I've learned through via viewer comments that Lévi himself is responsible for the beautiful faces because he reworked many of them! So i suspect the original Suzanne would look quite different! This deck might actually be prettier! Thank you for watching! ~ Marilyn

Just getting back to this video. The numbers on the minors are interesting. Clearly inspired by Etteilla, but in a very different order.
I do really appreciate that he 'found' the Hebrew alephbeth in the card images themselves... that can be used a memonic device for remembering which letter goes with which card! It seems like such an elementary (or even elementary school) idea that it is kind of surprising that other deck designers didn't also do it! It reminds me of Jodorowsky's method... looking for the hidden symbols!

Hello! They almost seem like flash cards to me. This deck is a marvel, imbued with Lévi's magic, so to speak. It's cool to see how Lévi thought and I only wish l could read his handwriting for even more insights into his thoughts. The beautiful faces all seem to be by Lévi's hand. It fascinates me that he changed the faces. Thank you for watching and sharing your insights. ~ Marilyn
