New wheels and tires, SS drive shafts and new shocks. Have not changed the servo yet. It still amazes my wife and me almost every time I get it out man she climbs. I have really enjoyed working and upgrading it so much I have been thinking about building a truck from chassis up. That may have to wait I want this truck. 😍Awesome Furitek Thanks for letting us see 2FM RC
There's a little bit of a sticker shock because of some decent value we've seen like the redcat ascend but you are absolutely right. The value is there and anyone who has done a full build or scratch build will see that. There's literally almost nothing left to do. Hopefully people catch on and it isn't a bust for furitek. I am a big fan of Furitek products, the first thing I’ve didn’t like is that all in one Lizard Pro. I have over 150 RC and all I use is Spektrum. The first thing I do if I get an RTR like the Cayman ( Pro & 6x6) it’s replaced the receiver with an SR315 or 215. That was the first thing I did with my FX118. Another thing I’m not a fan off CR-18P axles, the only mini on my entire fleet with CR-18P axles was the FX118 and lasted a few days with them, I retrofitted fcx24 axles. I like everything else about this RTR, when the parts are available, I build one with my own axles and electronics. Anyways, I build my own esc’s so I will just need receiver and axles, and I got plenty of those on my parts box waiting for the next build. You're completely right about that I didn't even think about that like when it comes to a complete 100 custom build you want to put what parts you want on it but it does look like it comes with some flat out of amazing stuff Now I don't know about the steering angle maybe you could get it to be better you know I don't know definitely interested
I'm interested to see if Furitek has Canadian pricing on it. If they do, it may be a better value for us as buying aftermarket parts from the US is pretty crazy price-wise. Injora and Meus at least have free shipping. But the straight-up exchange rate, duties, tax, etc just kill it for us. ***Edit*** $568 and that's NOT incl. tax, duties, etc..... ouch.....
@@keldonator Schit ton! I'd never live anywhere else. Not even close. The issue is population density and market percentage. We have a lot less people per sq. foot than most places so manufacturers don't pay as much attention to service and supply here as apposed to the US or Eur. market. It's just business logic. But doesn't make the country suck (which is what you are trying to say without saying it). It just makes for, in this example, a lot fewer choices on parts, etc. and makes them more expensive. Big companies will sometimes adjust prices down to accommodate for a countries economy. Small companies can afford to do that.
Always appreciate the videos, especially on minis. I have had better steering angle out of the CR18P axles than any other RTR axle (MEUS ISO and X15 being what is higher angled). Are there bearings or bushings in the metal axles? Curious if that may be part of the reason for less torque twist. Another question-are the tires on the Cayman Pro wider than the tires on the Evo Pro?
Great review as always buddy!!! Love this truck!!! Definitely gonna get one eventually but if there's going to be a different body option im gonna wait for that. (I'll probably end up just going lexan regardless though... why build a truck like that than lose performance whith a hard body? Might as well max it out) My question for you is... you've mentioned you're a servo snob many times in the past also. What servo(s) is/are your current favorite(s) right now? Or more specifically what servo are you likely going to put in this truck? You mentioned you were happy with ramp crabs a while back and i bought a couple and absolutely LOVE them... especially for the price But what's your go to currently/or going in this truck?
Thats what axial should have done with the SCX24 instead of that latest Powerwagon with the same old stuff. If i hadnt already spent tons into custom builds i would buy this one.
I feel like with that axle catching that's really going to cause that motor to bind and then I also feel like if you have a higher rate of overdrive that torque twist would go down some more because your front end would be turning a lot faster than the rear end don't know not until it's tested you know I picked that Evo up so I'm going to try some stuff I think I'm going to put FCX axles under it but another great one brother
You know what I think it is bro they see that initial price tag and they think oh that's so much but they don't look back on every piece they bought to build a custom rig and put it all together I guarantee you for a good top quality custom rig you're pushing 5 600 bucks all day long and honestly as soon as I seen this I knew I had to have one
i was hoping the same, i have the MT12, but i can wait until it gets supported by multiprotocol or, spend a little bit more for a separate rx/esc like the old version did.
Another great vid. Furitek in general has left a terrible taste in my mouth due to all the issues I’m having with the fury wagon. I keep on throwing money into it only to have totally different issues than the one I just fixed. Hard on the heart and wallet
Always like your content mate, happy new year to your family. Seems a shame they didnt do metal wheels and lexan body, I mean for the price i would think its going to appeal to folks who want to comp but dont want to build so having yo6 change the body and wheels takes it over $400. Im into micros as a secondary 'cheap' indoor part of the hobby so id drop that money on a 10th scale like a Fordyce or rail build and stick to the sub $200 micros. But i see theres a market for it, shame its not quite there on quality control/engineering and asthetics.
Hello, thank you for your video. Is it possible to use your own transmitter with the furitek RX? Or can you connect 3.party RX with the ESC? Sorry for bad english
Is there a lexan half cab that will fit for body? Looks like a mix of a smart car off of fantasy island / total recall vehicle Good break down. It’s on my maybe list 👍
I just can't get past that dang body, haha. Plenty worth the money. However, I really like building them. Just finished the Viper Slayer XL from TexomaRC. The price of the build is comparable running Mofo Nanobam/Rockwolf combo. With the brushed system it's already epic
What is that chassis that you keep comparing it to? That looks really nice. And what axles were you comparing at the end? I've been looking into the Meus iso axles.
@@keldonator I think the x15s are going to be more durable but these meus have a tighter turning radius. They are unbelievable. So far they have held up well but it just seems like the x15s are stronger & have less play in them. So I feel like they are going to hold up better. Time will tell really but atm I would go with the meus axles just for the fact that they turn tighter than any other axle. Also keep in mind the front worm gear on the meus is different than any other so you have to use their front worm gear which limits what you can do with overdrive etc. The rear is normal size so you can use whatever in it which allows you to underdrive it if you want but I wish the front was standard size also.
@@2fmrc Yea I've heard that about the front axle. Have you tried the 1/12 gear for the rear before? I think that would be about 30% underdrive, but I am likely wrong lol
For someone looking to buy one of these can u do a mini comp between the szk and the cayman pro 4x4 and a scx24 upgraded to the point its the same cost ($400 ish with scx24 included)?
Hey Matt I got a tech question for you. I’m trying to jump up to 3s. I got lizard pro with cedar motor. I have palm power 3s 450mah. When I run it the truck will cut out. I have to let off throttle wait a second to give throttle again. It will creepy but if you punch it cuts out. Any tips to get past this would be greatly apreciated.
Is it updated to the latest firmware? If not try that. If it is then maybe try going back 1-2 firmwares. Sounds crazy but I’ve had that issue before and updating helped. Hopefully that’s it! Keep me updated on it.
I was just sitting here in my head price and everything and like the axles alone you're talking 100 over well over a hundred dollars and then you come to the frame links motor transmission ESC remote receiver I mean you're well up there bro
Real bummer they didn't use better axles. We need more steering angle. Otherwise it's a good deal, I spent a little more than this building a trx4m ripper with all Meus and furitek parts.
None really available yet but I do have some hobbyplus overdrive for the front portal gears I just got in. Hopefully they’ll be selling them soon. I think they are only around 20%
@@2fmrcmaybe we'll get lucky and you can just swap the gears around to change the final drive🤞. If not, I'm going to be ordering all kinds of random stuff trying to make it work 🤣
It's actually inspired by chopped Suzuki bodies used on full size crawlers. Cant make 100% accurate due to licensing issues. Also needed to make it clear front servo hence the short grill and also needed to have a short enough body to clear the rear when using the new hinge mechanism as many people complain about magnet mounts not being enough. The larger lights enclosure was needed to strengthen material protecting actual lights which was something we wanted to showcase with the red lights specially. The interior of the body actually has a full cage which strengthens the material as well. It is also fully adjustable so you can move it back or forward to match the look you want or move weight back or forward to match your driving style. Theres a lot of thought that went into this body to make it function. We could have done what everyone else does and just get a $5 file online of a Jeep Wrangler and thrown it in there but we wanted something easily distinguishable as a Furitek truck not just another Jeep. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I guarantee you I took the time and put in the effort to actually make this body a functional part of the design and didn't just throw any design in there. The biggest plus for customers that don't like the body is that when you remove it you also remove 50g of weight which makes the chassis perform much better so swapping bodies will make this crawler even more competitive which is the idea of the Cayman platform 👍.
I received mine and it has the wrong portals on it. And wheels that are too small for the axle shaft and they jammed them on anyways and then glued them onto the hexes. Furiteks review products aren’t the same as what the consumer gets. Poor build quality on their cars and parts right now. I haven’t received anything from them that hasn’t had multiple issues. Crawlers and parts. Buy their products in store so you can visually inspect them. You may get wrong parts. Broken parts, damaged wiring, etc.
Im gonna go ahead and say it...Ugliest body we will see for all of 2024! And we arent even a full week in. Anyways, I know whats under that ugly body is quality and proven. However hobbyplus really improved on the fx118 collab with new evo pro release and honestly I'd rather have it (evo pro)brushed than this re‐cayman. And use the left over $220ish on.... well im sure we could all find a place to spend that! I am glad they upgraded from the plastic shaft cayman shocks with the pink caps, these look nice.
Seems this rig was build by clueless people just throwing high end parts together weather it works or not...not even close to the original Cayman Pro with the longer links in the back…sorry !
It really all comes down to opinions. I’ve had both and actually sold my cayman pro (with extended links) after getting this. I felt this was much better with the angled skid and overall chassis setup. The steering needs some work but it can be fixed. Both are great trucks but I just preferred this new chassis myself

***Edit*** $568 and that's NOT incl. tax, duties, etc..... ouch.....
Is there good things about living in Canada? I don't hear any...
@@wingnutbert9685 It definitely looks pretty there.
That red body is almost screaming for some black and white EVH stripes! LOL!
When and where we see the custom build breakdown?? Always good honest vids. But let’s see a 2FM custom!
Hey Matt, when you're not using beadlocks, what glue do you use for gluing tires to wheels?
Thanks
Great review as always buddy!!!
Love this truck!!! Definitely gonna get one eventually but if there's going to be a different body option im gonna wait for that. (I'll probably end up just going lexan regardless though... why build a truck like that than lose performance whith a hard body? Might as well max it out)
My question for you is... you've mentioned you're a servo snob many times in the past also.
What servo(s) is/are your current favorite(s) right now? Or more specifically what servo are you likely going to put in this truck?
You mentioned you were happy with ramp crabs a while back and i bought a couple and absolutely LOVE them... especially for the price
But what's your go to currently/or going in this truck?
Thats what axial should have done with the SCX24 instead of that latest Powerwagon with the same old stuff. If i hadnt already spent tons into custom builds i would buy this one.
I feel like with that axle catching that's really going to cause that motor to bind and then I also feel like if you have a higher rate of overdrive that torque twist would go down some more because your front end would be turning a lot faster than the rear end don't know not until it's tested you know I picked that Evo up so I'm going to try some stuff I think I'm going to put FCX axles under it but another great one brother
i got one getting delivered soon!
Great review!
Great review. Would rather just build mine for that price or get a 10th scale.
Hey matt wondering where you are getting those galaxy batteries from.
Exactly right!
And so a builder would never buy it.
What servo did you end up using?
I put the rear shocks straight on my evo
Pro and torque twist is gone 🤘🏻
😮 you got one! 👏👏👏😊
Thought you said fcx axles and an scx transmission is a bad match-up? Gearing being way too high?
Hey Matt off topic, but do you like the Avatar radio for 4 wheel steering, if not what do you recommend?
I wish they made one that would bind to mt12 or without the rx
i was hoping the same, i have the MT12, but i can wait until it gets supported by multiprotocol or, spend a little bit more for a separate rx/esc like the old version did.
right, I wish multiprotocal had Ant so I can bind my fcx24. Note if you looking for cheap tx micro size DUMBORC X6PM-350 works great!
@@power21100
Why wouldn't you be able to bind the M12 to this?
does not have the protocol from what I know@@garettodd3037
What would an ideal battery be for this?
Another great vid. Furitek in general has left a terrible taste in my mouth due to all the issues I’m having with the fury wagon. I keep on throwing money into it only to have totally different issues than the one I just fixed. Hard on the heart and wallet
What wheels are you running on the orange build in the background ?
I don't like my brass to look like brass. And how much money do I have to spend on Furitek products before I get a sticker?
Whats the wheelbase on this?
I gotta ask. Would you take an evo pro brushless with $150 in upgrades or the cayman pro v2 with a lexan body of your choice?
Is there a lexan half cab that will fit for body? Looks like a mix of a smart car off of fantasy island / total recall vehicle
Good break down. It’s on my maybe list 👍
Atlas 6x6 Power Wagon cab likely.
All of my palm beach bots batteries died in about a week
Isnt it the same gearbox as the cayman pro v2? Because on this one the slow crawl looks better then the v2 in your other video.
Ah no, further in the video you explain it. 🙂Still havent decided what to get SKZ or Pro2 🙂🙂
I just can't get past that dang body, haha. Plenty worth the money. However, I really like building them. Just finished the Viper Slayer XL from TexomaRC. The price of the build is comparable running Mofo Nanobam/Rockwolf combo. With the brushed system it's already epic
do you have any recommendations on any 3s lipos for the scx24?
You keep mentioning about adjusting the suspension, how exactly would you do it?
remove more oil from the shock
400 after tax and shipping. Not bad if it has all that. Dan good looking rig.
What is that chassis that you keep comparing it to? That looks really nice. And what axles were you comparing at the end? I've been looking into the Meus iso axles.
NW Chassis Works Athos and those are the Meus axles. They are killer!
@@2fmrc Would you say the Meus iso are better than the x15? Thanks for sharing
@@keldonator not yet. That’s what I’m thinking I may try in them next
For someone looking to buy one of these can u do a mini comp between the szk and the cayman pro 4x4 and a scx24 upgraded to the point its the same cost ($400 ish with scx24 included)?
I actually just recently sold my original cayman. I’d definitely go with the SZK. The chassis is much better imo
Alright any immediate mods? Looking to spend roughly 400-450
@@JG_Outdoor definitely wheels and tires. Possibly the servo if you’re like me and like a killer servo.
Alright, im always after wheels and tires too, hopefully i can sell my 1/10 crawler and get me some more money for a mini one
@@JG_Outdoor softening that shocks is the first this i would do
Hey Matt I got a tech question for you.
@@2fmrc it’s is updated I’ll try to go back an update. Thank you

Please not another harvest body
Are the axles housings and internals fcx or cr18p?
Cr18p
I was just sitting here in my head price and everything and like the axles alone you're talking 100 over well over a hundred dollars and then you come to the frame links motor transmission ESC remote receiver I mean you're well up there bro
Real bummer they didn't use better axles. We need more steering angle. Otherwise it's a good deal, I spent a little more than this building a trx4m ripper with all Meus and furitek parts.
That's right baby let's go will speed what if you dropped it down to the mini Komodo wonder if that would settle it down or even like the SMP by mofo
I love it
Anyone know who is making a good overdrive for this, hopfully 20%-30%
None really available yet but I do have some hobbyplus overdrive for the front portal gears I just got in. Hopefully they’ll be selling them soon. I think they are only around 20%
@@2fmrcmaybe we'll get lucky and you can just swap the gears around to change the final drive🤞. If not, I'm going to be ordering all kinds of random stuff trying to make it work 🤣
Imagine if the trucks that are available now were around 3 years ago id still have 5k in my bank
No metal servo
Wow you can see it really good yeah it is bent
I spent $600 on my trx4m just to get it like this truck
none of furiteks RTR vehicles can be found for sale anywhere - why are you showing us this one that we cannot buy?
Probably because it was available when I posted it lol. I can’t control what they do. Just showing what’s out there 🤷🏻♂️
Heli direct
I am gonna say it but the cab is super whack!!!!!!!! What were they thinking?
💯 agree. That can/body is terrible 🤮
No way 😢
Im gonna go ahead and say it...Ugliest body we will see for all of 2024!
The wheels and body are ugly which aren't really doing it any favours!
