The average Spaniard Jose says: are you nuts michaelcojones? We use sunflower oil for mayo and some for fries. The 99% of the rest is olive oil.

One other reason for staying in the left lane is the terrible and broken condition of the right lane caused by heavy verhicle traffic. The road from Seville to Portugal, the A49, is a prime example.
I for one will not be going to Seville again until it is repaired; it's almost undriveable.

Regarding allergies... Some of my coworkers suffer a lot, Barcelona very dusty and filled with pollen, so I understand they are suffering☹️ When it's worst I usually wear a facemask and goggles if I'm on my bike (even though I'm not allergic) but it doesn't look especially healthy with all the particles in the air.

Sales of electric cars are stagnating everywhere and are way behind the idiotic targets set for them. TH-cam is absolutely awash with videos for the reason why. There aren't enough trained mechanics in independent garages to work on them so repairs and services take far too long. Only the very well off can afford them and they depreciate in value at an astonishing rate: Garages aren't interested in buying them back. In the U.S.A, where so many drive SUV's, were finding that when you drive off-road or with a trailer the battery plummets. The unrecyclable batteries are virtually the cost of the car and have a limited shelf life. Don't have an accident either, because the cost of repairs are eye-watering. Loads of people are just scrapping their cars rather than pay the bill.
Charging points? Well, that's just a joke everywhere. Even in a congested country like the U.K, amongst others, the now, obviously impossible, target of charging points is a stratosphere away from being met. It's virtually stalled. Furthermore, it's widely accepted that even that target is another stratosphere away from the actual amount that would be required. The length of charge is still far too long as well. We had a snowy week a couple of years ago in the U.K and the result was massive queues of nervous EV drivers in rural areas waiting forever to get to the garage charging point.
Even if we arrive to a future utopian dream of affordable electric cars and plentiful charging points, that can charge a car as quickly as it takes to fill a tank of petrol, where is the electricity on the grid going to come from? That level of energy is not coming from renewable sources. The U.K, being the shit show it is, takes about 30 years to build a new nuclear power station and its old ones are in the process of being decommissioned. France enjoys a lot of nuclear energy but many of its stations are also in the process of decommission and extremely expensive recommissioning or massively expensive new nuclear plants. It's not happening.
China's tanking economy is looking to flood the rest of the world with its cheap knock off EVs but you'd be mad to buy them. Again, plenty of TH-cam videos explaining why. The American car companies are reversing their EV policies because they make absolutely no business sense and are loosing them large amounts of money. The German car companies are crapping themselves for the same reason. Their idiot Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, still clings to the idea of exporting expensive cars to a bankrupt middle class in China that makes its own knock-off stuff for a fraction of the price. How many people in Africa, Asia, Russia and Latin America can afford these cars and where are the charging points? Wake up everybody.

Toyota did try hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (as are others). The cell uses hydrogen to react with oxygen to produce water and electricty. The electricity is used to drive motors via batteries. So it is an EV with hydrogen based energy storage. There's a lot of hydrogen based misinformation out there. I wonder who supplies it? 😊

  • @michaelthatcher3825

One way to describe the plight of the EV is when I saw a picture of an electric bus being charged at the side of the road with a large diesel generator. It seems that fossil fuels still have a place in society.

    • @welshtoro3256

    • @therealkakitron
      @therealkakitron 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

Of course they do. Many anti EV people make a strawman argument by pretending the goal is to completely stop using fossil fuels one night and only use EVs starting the next morning, when in reality the idea is to slowly phase EVs into the market, which will obviously require some use of fossil fuels during the transition.

Squatters, haha 😂 Oh yes, a huge problem they are in certain parts of Spain. There are even enterprises whose activity is to kick them out through legal procedures or even using "their own ways" from the real estates they occupy. YT doesn't even allow me to mention them by name, the comment gets deleted by default, so it is up to everyone to find out about them.

    Hi Stu
It seems they want to move the Spanish border to the airport which will mean that anyone landing will be in the Schengen and will have to be in the same situation as the 90/180 rule. If you live in Gibraltar this is completely ridiculous. What is Cameron thinking of??

    • @mikegowers9809

About electric cars, one of the questions I always have and people evade is, what are we going to do with all the discarded batteries when they need to be replace and are not recyclable and are harmful for the environment. The 2024 Toyota Camry only comes as Hybrid with 7 years warranty on the battery. The replacement battery after warranty starts at $4k plus installation. To me electric cars are for rich people that can afford to change cars every 3 to 4 years and not worry about battery replacements. For the rest of us, like me, that only buy used cars keep them for 15 years or more, we will be force to buy cars more often or pay for a battery replacement that will cost more than the salary of many months in most cases and can't be finance. To me electric cars are a scam. You want to lower emissions? Go after China and India that are the biggest offenders. The US also needs a train infrastructure like the one in Spain.

As with many new things it’ll take a few years for the EV revolution to achieve its objective of replacing ICE, not least the charging infrastructure. The life of batteries has a way to go also.
