The few minutes from Starcross to Teignmouth define an entire childhood. “The beginning of the Sea” we’d shout and knew the holiday had truly arrived. Grey old Birmingham forgotten and Goodrington in Torbay excitedly awaited. Watching the folk walking on the prom, the waves lapping at the shore, those little magical hidden coves between the tunnels, the ‘ Old Man Of The Sea ‘….just wonderful.Mom, Dad, and my brothers, are gone now, but watching this, it was like I was sat in the compartment ( those were the days !) with them. Thank You !
Amazing as the sea-mist cleared away at Starcross Station into beautiful, stunning sunny morning views of the famous "Glorious Devon" coastal railway. Absolutely wonderful!
Fabulous, and don’t worry about no sound, we just put the microwave on to defrost a chook and it sounded perfect. Seriously, lovely footage and a great reminder of the lovely final hour or so after trekking to reunite with beloved family in Cornwall, all the way from Australia, where I currently sit .
Very Nice. I went a number of times between Exeter and Newton Abbot in October 2017 with the mist coming down. It was like being in the middle of a Turner painting.
Really enjoyed this, as we leave St David's the video quality is so good you actually wonder whether its CGI! As others have said coming out into the sun is just marvellous and what a wonderful "desk" to be sat at! shame GWR or someone can't sell "cab" rides or have a viewing carriage on the front. The view from the left-hand windows of train carriages is good (i always tell "grockle" passengers sat around me to move from the right to the left for the best experience) but the view from the cab is just spectacular.
The sea wall has just re-opened in the last few days from Dawlish station to Boat Cove in the last few days having been re-built. Huge changes planned for Dawlish station.
The railway cab ride overall was good. Excellent quality, but although one thing that lets it down is that there was no audio!!! If there had been sound I would have given it 10/10, but on this occasion I will only give it 5 out of 10.
If you google “railway sound” there’s hundreds of videos of nothing but train noise. Plug headphones in your phone if you have one, turn that on, then use your pc/ tablet for the film. Works a treat, you instantly forget the audio is from a different journey 🙂👍
I know I'm going to sound like an ungrateful spoiled brat, in being fortunate enough to have this as my regular trip home from work in Exeter to Teignmouth every weekday. Lucky me, you might think, but glorious though the route is (undoubtedly one of the best commutes in Britain) you are lucky if you see anything of it at all, simply because GWR in their infinite wisdom often only provide single carriage trains passing through at peak rush hour. Packed in like crushed sardines, your view is no different to those enduring a ride on the Circle Line at 6.00pm. All avoiding eye contact and staring at the back of heavily perspiring pen pushers jackets for twenty minutes isn't quite the inspirational journey you imagine it to be....there you go, I said I'd sound ungrateful! 😂

Fantastic video thank you, great memories of holiday's in Dawlish in late 50's. Walked the sea wall in Jan of this yr, wow big changes!
Glad you enjoyed it
Does,nt matter about the sound the scenery makes up for that! Superb
Such a stunning route.
It really is!

Mesmerising. And the lack of sound was surprisingly a plus for me. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The stations are really empty
No finer route anywhere on the rail network but then I am biased as I have the good fortune to live in Devon.
A lovely sight to start with - the sea mist slowly lifting. Thanks for the journey.
Glad you enjoyed it

Sorry about that

Look there’s hardly anybody on the sea wall

in the current circumstances. Work from Home and then watch the commute!
