    I own an 09 Acura TL with the same J35 motor and I purchased the same set up as this guy except for the HFPCD, I just got the PCDs. Made 271whp on the Dyno with a K Tune, my tuner also dealt with the rev hang by adjusting the idle.

    Gotta tune it. My accord (j35z3) has RV6 j-pipes, aluminum throttle body spacer, cold air intake, and flow master mufflers and ktuned and it has a better pull. If you ktune the car it will be wayy more powerful and take my accord to gapplebees

    I have all this plus more and find it's all worth it, but a tune is required to get the best out of these upgrades!!!
    I used to have the HFPC's but blew out the internals within abt a year...swapped them out for PCD's and the rear one kept snapping (in addition to the bracket holding it in place) cos of torque during launches smh...ended up getting custom brackets made for the PCD's which have held up....so far!!!

    Great video bro! Thanks for sharing this wonderful upgrade on your Accord!
    I have a J35z3 and was very interested in doing this j37 IM and TB upgrade, is it basically plug and play, with no extra Modifications?
    Any info would be great! TIA

      Glad you liked the video. And yes for the j35z3 it is a direct fit plug and play. For the z2 (automatics) there are a could vacuum lines that need to be plugged I believe.

      Damn seriously?! Been looking for answers on this mod everywhere! Have an 04 coupe 6-6 pcd's, 3rd cat delete, aftermarket header pipe/j pipe (2.5"), and a cold air intake. Those mods opened up my car a ton (check my vids, got some races against the same mustang before and after those mods). Yesterday just got in my j37 mani and t.b cant wait to install! The mani i have is from an A/T, anything I should need before bolting it right on (barring re-routing/jumping the imrc plug)

      @@auston.e8493 Bolts right on. Only thing is the AT manifold doesn't have butterflies, so you may lose a little low end before 4k RPM, but nothing to worry about. Stock catback? If so, you may not gain quite as much because that will be your bottleneck, but you will definitely gain. It made a huge difference when paired with all other intake and exhaust mods. I also had the manifold ported to match the gasket. Make sure to get new gaskets as well.

    Just got my Kit today... Few questions:
    1) I don't think the J35 has the actuator assembly / by pass valve system on the left of the intake manifold (attached to the cover), did you actually end up using this somehow? or is just dead sitting there?
    2) I believe there is a black pipe that I think is the EGR Pipe that gets bolted inside the IM before you close the top plate... Did the J35 have the same thing? (From drawings I didn't see any) Did you have to order your own bolts?
    Thanks!

    • @ACCORDingtoWill
      @ACCORDingtoWill  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wei Wang if you have a manual transmission then you will have the butterfly valve on the top plate. If you have the automatic there will be no butterfly valve. Also you need to put the black pipe in there and if your kit didn't come with one reuse the old one. Also I did have new bolts but only because I bought the manifold spacer which requires longer bolts. Hope that helps

    • @ACCORDingtoWill
      @ACCORDingtoWill  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ya it would help both automatics and manuals the same by reducing the engine flex caused under load. it does take some modifying to get it to work because you need to drill out the holes on the mounting plate to make it fit on the bolts because it is actually made for the 7th gen accord which is slightly different.

    Hi, I have an 03 accord V6 and I've been looking at doing this kind of work for a long time, using the 3.7 acura IM and TB as well as a 3.5 camshaft. It should all work for mine too, right? with the 3.0L? alos, I have generally heard that TB spacers aren't really worth it, do they seem to go a little further with the J series? thanks for the upload, awesome results!

    • @ACCORDingtoWill
      @ACCORDingtoWill  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the 3.7 IM and TB will work fine but im not sure about the camshafts. do you have some sort of tuner? k-tuner? Hondata? if so you should be able to make it work but changing cams without a re-tune might cause driveability problems. as for the TB spacer, yes i generally agree but i did not install a TB spacer. I installed an IM spacer which is different because it raises the manifold from the bottom up essentially lengthening the intake runners. honda does this from the factory on the larger vehicles such as the ridgeline, pilot etc. and in theory the manifold spacer is supposed to shift the torque curve down to make more torque at lower RPM.

    • @TangeClown
      @TangeClown 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a hondata tuner for the accord auto trans, and while I do want to swap the transmission thats just a bit further out do to time and cost. but if I can just start with the IM, TB, spacer, and exhaust it sounds like that will go a long way!

    • @TangeClown
      @TangeClown 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is your Ktuner the reflash or the in-ecu? I've also read a lot about non hondata tuners just sorta getting week and reverting back to normal and needing to be retuned a lot, does Ktuner do that or is it constant like hondata?

    • @ACCORDingtoWill
      @ACCORDingtoWill  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick question before I order this all for my Honda. Did your intake from your stock throttle body fit on the j37
    Or you need a new intake to fit it. I was going to order the k&n for my stock manifold and tb but if I change it to the j37 is that going to affect it fitting

    • @ACCORDingtoWill
      @ACCORDingtoWill  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The intake will still fit but you will need a new coupler. My takeda intake came with 2 couplers; one for the accord, and one for the acura TL since the intake fits both. I just swapped out the coupler to the second one for the TL. If your intake doesn't come with it you could easily get one from HPS or somewhere.

Personally I stuck to the TL-shawd because I had read that it was the lowest height profile (because I was running the p2r manifold spacer) and that it was the best flowing of the intakes. Also stuck with the the shawd tb because it has an 80mm tb vs the zdx 78mm. However I do know that there are guys that mix and match manifolds and tb's

    • @ACCORDingtoWill

      you need to disconnect the intake piping, then take off the manifold top plate, then take off the actual manifold. there are 2 guide bolts in the intake runners that you need to use the double nut method to take out. then you can install the manifold spacer between the intake runners and intake manifold, then reinstall the top plate and intake piping.
