Did you make a lot of initial mistakes after the breakup? I keep beating myself up for doing the handwritten letter/clean slate message and good reminder text during no contact. I’m very hard on myself, which I know, but that doesn’t keep me from continuing to beat myself up for it. The relationship went downhill during Covid because I got confused at what I wanted and tried an open relationship. This (obviously) didn’t end up going well, but at the time I thought it was what I wanted to do. We go to the same small university and run into each other every so often, but I have been purposely giving space and continuing to work on myself for the past several months.
@@lucylights8065 Nothing new. Still as it was before. Still a happy healthy relationship that still has the tense moments every so often but we manage to talk through things and be kind to each other. Relationships can be really strong after a break up, just need to work on it together. :)

Team: excellent topic and video. As a 'dumpee,' often we have no sympathy towards the 'dumper.' In fact, this may come a little bit late, but my advice to a 'dumper.' Don't Ghost and be transparent. Try being honest and up front. If and when you're convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere, tell your partner. Why? Simple, as I speak from experience. My former ghosted me after 5+ years. We had a good thing going. I was crazy about her, etc., Fast forward, she's tried coming back at least 5 times. I can forgive most things, but betrayal in a committed relationship has consequences. My point to dumpers is simple. Be honest to have a second chance. In my case, I might have done so if she had been honest. Dating doesn't mean married! Break ups happen. If only, right? I reached out to my ex once, recently. I mentioned I had read a book that had reminded me of him. He responded that he had read the book and liked it, and that it had “obviously” made him think of me. Before that, he has reached out three times: once just to talk (which was baffling to me), another time after a relative of mine died, and another one in order to return my things before he went away for a semester. On that last visit he said he was nostalgic. But he’s quite the avoidant, that stubborn man.
I have been so torn up since my breakup. I haven’t eaten in a month just drinking protein shakes and going to the gym again. Down 30lbs in a month. Ran into my ex at the store this week. She just stared at me and said “you look great.” We hugged the whole world stopped we were both love struck. We hugged again she buried her face in my chest. She said I should call her sometime and she said she missed me. I screwed up and called her the next night. It was the first time she ever verbalized considering getting back together. She said she was sad and confused. I told her she should take a step back and consider her options. She has been in a rebound relationship since we broke up. She went and spent the weekend with her new man, who I am sure has no idea she has been talking and texting me on and off. I screwed up and texted her again last night. I listened to videos all night. I will not contact her again unless she reaches out to me again. I think she was close but I relieved her anxiety. Won’t happen again.

I did everything wrong. I didn’t know any of this stuff. It was to late by the time I found all this truth out. She’s got a new bf now. I finally stopped contacting her 4 weeks ago. Honestly? After 8 years together, 4 weeks of no contact i am already changing. I’m already starting to get over this. I didn’t think that could happen. I’m starting to have feeling like “I don’t think I want to be with her anymore actually” or “I think maybe I’d be happier with someone else”. Man I wish I cut communication a long time ago. I met another girl who took my mind off her 10,000% and it made me realize how much better I could do. I've been caving into my abandonment fears and past traumas. Staying in a one sided toxic relationship because I won't let go, she keeps throwing me bread crumbs but blows me off more than not. I don't feel the love from her anymore like I used to when the relationship was good. I feel powerless, she started working at a strip club so now I feel more insecure and haven't been able to express myself in a way that she seems to care. It's against my instinct to let go but in the mean time I watch your videos at least 3 hours a day and am trying to work on my fitness as well as quit my gambling addiction. 100% true. All of it. I did write letters and went to see her. At first she still responded nicely. But after a while, she got annoyed and angry. Which I can totally understand, now 2 years later. I don't know if there's still a chance for us. But fact is that she has to make the move.

I'm going through not sure what number breakup and so much more in between at this moment. So yes if you leave them alone they will come back but every single time I grow mature and try to find myself again he finds me, sees my worth as I'm growing and hooks me again. Then puts me through a crazy cycle And I'm in love with him so it's hard to let him go. And now we have our son 💙 and that makes it so much harder to let him go and I don't know where to start. I originally took the breakup well, but after a couple weeks I suddenly broke down and made a few of the mistakes listed. Wish I had learned about all this before and it's all so counter intuitive! We both did a lot of "direct-indirect" reaching out to each other for ~8 months. Then I finally did no-contact, which resulted in them blocking me on social media. The "good times reminder" got zero response. I have since not reached out any more. They still choose to interact with me during some online gaming in a group though, which is some mixed messaging. It's been 2 months of that.
I reached out to my ex 3 times since the breakup and each was about a week or just a couple days apart and she answered and got colder towards me and the last time she just plain ignored me trust me no contact would of been better

Craig is absolutely right. I did all the classic mistakes during the breakup because it was mostly my fault, so I was desperate and then I tried to communicate after almost a year. I just asked how she was doing- no answer of course. I found out that she rushed into a new relationship less than a couple of months after our breakup. Don't do the same mistakes guys.

I did the begging, pleading, made a picture collage board, bargaining, etc. None of it worked and only made her avoid me more. No contact and breaking that codependency is the only thing that worked. She's purposely leaving stuff in my house now, coming to pick items up in small batches just to have some kind of contact with me. When she does contact me I do not ignore her, just like yall said. Do not ignore, but I let her know I'm doing perfectly OK 😌

Answering Craig's personal experience request. I tried the grand gesture 2 days after the breakup: 2 dozen very expensive apology roses 🌹 I was ignored and currently still am being. I was lucky to discover No Contact soon after and stay in it. Wish me luck.

It’s been 2 months since the break up and let me tell ya, my anxiety got the best of me by last Friday. Thankfully I talked to my therapist and he told me the best thing I could do is just tell my ex how I felt about our situation. We met up. I talked, she listened and acknowledged everything I had to say and vice versa. She didn’t take me back but that’s okay with me at this point because I got to pour my heart out in a positive way, so in a way I got closure. BUT get this…. Her attitude changed entirely as soon as I left her that day, she started texting me (asking me questions) seeming genuinely interested. She reminded me of a party she wanted to go to with me and even asked to watch a movie at my place :) things are looking good, we may not be together but that’s okay, I think all it takes is time and some space :))

It's been 52 days since break up and NC. There's good days, bad days, good hours, bad hours, good minutes, bad minutes, good seconds and bad seconds,, but I've managed to stay away and give her the break up she wants and seemingly needs.

I know how tough it is to stay in NC. I've been in no contact now for 161 days!!! I still think about her everyday, and trying to break that cycle. It is what it is. I'm sticking to no contact no matter what. I'm working on potentially meeting other women, even so she's still in the back of my mind. Stay Strong!!!
They broke up with me on 3/30 and I went to no contact. They texted me 4/9 but it was a message that seemed like they were still blaming me for their misfortune. I ignored that message. I’m staying strong with no contact so i can be better to myself and I won’t reach out until I’m good and ready and over it.
What if your ex came back and things were starting to get repaired, but then she suddenly pulled away and has now put up a massive wall? I suspect it’s the depression (she has a lot going on), but I can’t know for sure. My ex just said he doesn't know why, but he felt like he didn't want to spend time with me, and he feels like he is causing me to waste my life. This and other things makes me believe he is a Fearful Avoidant. It's been only 10 days. Seems like a year. So weird how the time element gets so distorted to the person who has been "let go".
Is there ever a distinguishable point where once they start reaching out that it's okay to start reaching out back? I feel my ex becomes stubborn sometimes where they stop reaching out because they don't want to be the only one reaching out all the time. I'm afraid they'll think I don't care or I've moved on completely and I'm afraid of halting the progress I have with her. Should I stay in no contact until more advancements are made (we meet in person)? Or should it be just let her reach out a certain percentage of the time (80 or 90%) so she can still feel some of the loss, but I still show interest by reaching out?
I'd suggest discussing with them/thinking about what went wrong, think about your expectations, and see where you can both improve. Respect them but also respect yourself
Craig also talks about breadcrumming in some of his videos, the indirect direct actions. If they aren't explicitly wanting to get back with you, don't give them an inch when it comes to reassuring them. They might be fishing for reassurance without giving you ground to work with reassuring yourself.
sometimes a fearful avoidant may not reach out because of intense fear of rejection, esepcially if things ended really badly. so, tread lighlty with this advice.
My ex ended the relationship by ghosting me. I spent a week reaching out. I stopped for some time. Then reach out by phone and text still nothing. I got desperate and sent a good well or clean slate email. Every effort was ignored and only made me feel worse. When someone walks away you have to walk in the opposite direction. Chasing after them will only hurt you.
The guy I dated for a month and a half came back after almost 2 months of NC. Everything was going great at first then I realise that he wouldn’t try to meet my needs so I stood up for myself. I confronted him and he said he’s sorry he couldn’t compromise. I initiated the “breakup” and we ended on good terms (no yelling, no blocking, etc) I don’t know his intentions but I was shocked to hear from him cause he mentioned that he never goes back/reach out to an ex.

Last time I talked with my ex was 24.10 and I told her I won't contact her again but she can contact me and she's always be in my heart. After that I saw her in a bar and I was there talking with other girls. She left the bar, she was there with some random dude, maybe a friend. Who knows? So no contact going strong and I doubt she's missing me or thinking about me. I did give her in May a handwritten letter saying I'll take her to Paris for shopping. I doubt she's contacting me again. I know she's Instagram addicted and wants to show a posh image, meanwhile I'm aiming for financial independence in 11 years and don't have Instagram.

Ok, now I didn’t really reach out on this year on Halloween, I “accidentally” FaceTimed her and hung up. A few seconds later, she did the same. It all happened when, on the same night, I had an image pop in my head of her kissing someone (more of a peck on the lips) and I started to hyperventilate. I couldn’t get that image out of my head and I started crying uncontrollably the next two days, as I did on day one of the breakup. Perhaps our souls are connected and are one. After that happened, I noticed that she unblocked me on Facebook. Now, she blocked me on Facebook but not Instagram and I wondered why only on one platform. 🤷🏻
Don’t think I’ll ever hear from mine again. Went no contact back in January after she blocked me out of the blue for no reason. We had a fight 2 days prior, but apologized to one another and next thing I know I was blocked. Clearly had a guy in her life and looking back, I’m not so sure the fight wasn’t planned on her end to end it.
How about an ex that comes back after 3 years by realizing the mistakes after being in another relationship for about an year. She was indeed emotionally drained with all the fights between her parents and the miscommunication between us due to LD that ended up in fights.

Hey coach Craig. Wondering your thoughts. It’s been 8.5 months NC. I’ve dropped 85lbs, quit my bad habits (that lead to the breakup), got a promotion at work. Changed my life completely and many thanks to your videos. I’ve also started dating again and feel pretty good. As of late she has gone from posting super positive (going out partying) things on social media to posting really sad posts, etc. I’m wondering if this is dumpers regret but also seeing some of the great things I have done. I’ve also noticed a lot of mirroring on social media. She posts similar to my stories shortly after with a similar theme (some times with a “one upping” to it. But she’s stubborn so wondering if I should reach out? Either way, I’m super proud of my growth.
Don’t reach out dude. Like he said in the video, your brain will try and trick you with reasons for you to reach out. It’s why the clean slate message exists in the first place, it’s just to say how much you screwed up during the breakup bc of stuff like that. If she is viewing your social media and mirroring, she will probably keep escalating in behavior and reach out at some point. Keep working on yourself and the rest will come.

I really appreciate your videos. It's like having you in my living room to assure me I'll be OK. However, I'd like to ask you ( for a friend) why would my ex come back to me when she didn't go back to her ex? Why would this relationship be any different? Thank you.
I ask myself the same question. But I guess with me, the difference is that I was dumped and in her previous relationships she was dumped so there was a sense of pride in not going back in her previous relationships. Also, in my previous relationships where I was good to them (as in this one) but still dumped, they did reach out after a while. But by then I had already moved on. Just have to analyze those previous relationships and see how they differ from yours and have faith that you’re somebody worthy of being missed. Easier said than done but we really have no choice.
My ex did reach out after 11 months. They want to work it out. I asked if the other affair was over and they said yes; but with no details. Do I question the lack of details or leav it alone. They just said it over.
I did a strict no contact period for 45 days. I made handmade meatballs which was an inside thing with us and dropped them on his porch after leaving him a message letting him know. He texted the next day that he loved them. 9 days later I texted him about my turtle dying and we had a positive catch up type of exchange. 6 days later I asked him about this thing he told me about for my dog and he said he was going to get it for me, then a couple days later I texted him when I got my tattoo and it was positive. The next day he reached out to me unprompted. The no contact period sucked and before I started it, he stonewalled me, while watching my social media every day.

It's been almost a month since she left me. We were together for almost 3 years and only lived together for 6 months. We had a rough month or 2, it was just a very stressful time. I've heard from others, that it is acceptable to make "smart" no contact if there is a significant Life event. I did everything wrong during the breakup (of course, we don't hear about Coach Craig until it's too late), but my ex-stepdaughter is about to graduate from university. I reached out after a month with a "happy memory" text which was ignored, 9 days later I sent a text about meeting up and exchanging things which got a reply 3 days later but I was busy that day, they then ignored my reply for the next 3 days before sending a very blunt text, I didn't reach out for 3 weeks until I really wanted to get rid of their stuff (for my own wellbeing and recovery), they replied after 2 days and then we met up and it was short and uneventful. I think I wrote this about 18 months ago. I am current;y in a very happy 7 month relationship with an amazing and beautiful girl and feel totally secure in it. So I have been in no contact for 35 days I accidentally butt dialed my ex. I managed to hang up the phone after 2-3 rings. I didn’t text or anything saying it was an accident. I just left it.

Did you make a lot of initial mistakes after the breakup? I keep beating myself up for doing the handwritten letter/clean slate message and good reminder text during no contact. I’m very hard on myself, which I know, but that doesn’t keep me from continuing to beat myself up for it.
The relationship went downhill during Covid because I got confused at what I wanted and tried an open relationship. This (obviously) didn’t end up going well, but at the time I thought it was what I wanted to do. We go to the same small university and run into each other every so often, but I have been purposely giving space and continuing to work on myself for the past several months.

Try being honest and up front. If and when you're convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere, tell your partner. Why? Simple, as I speak from experience. My former ghosted me after 5+ years. We had a good thing going. I was crazy about her, etc., Fast forward, she's tried coming back at least 5 times. I can forgive most things, but betrayal in a committed relationship has consequences. I reached out to my ex once, recently. I mentioned I had read a book that had reminded me of him. He responded that he had read the book and liked it, and that it had “obviously” made him think of me. Before that, he has reached out three times: once just to talk (which was baffling to me), another time after a relative of mine died, and another one in order to return my things before he went away for a semester. On that last visit he said he was nostalgic. But he’s quite the avoidant, that stubborn man.

I have been so torn up since my breakup. I haven’t eaten in a month just drinking protein shakes and going to the gym again. Down 30lbs in a month. Ran into my ex at the store this week. I did everything wrong. I didn’t know any of this stuff. It was to late by the time I found all this truth out. She’s got a new bf now. I finally stopped contacting her 4 weeks ago. Honestly? After 8 years together, 4 weeks of no contact i am already changing. I’m already starting to get over this. I didn’t think that could happen. I’m starting to have feeling like “I don’t think I want to be with her anymore actually” or “I think maybe I’d be happier with someone else”. Man I wish I cut communication a long time ago. Just happy I finally had the courage to do so.

I met another girl who took my mind off her 10,000% and it made me realize how much better I could do. It actually changed my taste and preferences a lot and I don’t ever think about my ex from 8 years ago except random dreams from time to time but I shake that off in 5 minutes of waking up. At the end of the day me and her could never work out or function. I’m a completely different person now. I’ve lost 75 lbs of fat and feel amazing. My mind is sharper etc…

I've been caving into my abandonment fears and past traumas. Staying in a one sided toxic relationship because I won't let go, she keeps throwing me bread crumbs but blows me off more than not. I don't feel the love from her anymore like I used to when the relationship was good. I feel powerless, she started working at a strip club so now I feel more insecure and haven't been able to express myself in a way that she seems to care. I originally took the breakup well, but after a couple weeks I suddenly broke down and made a few of the mistakes listed. Wish I had learned about all this before and it's all so counter intuitive! We both did a lot of "direct-indirect" reaching out to each other for ~8 months. Then I finally did no-contact, which resulted in them blocking me on social media. The "good times reminder" got zero response. I have since not reached out any more. They still choose to interact with me during some online gaming in a group though, which is some mixed messaging. It's been 2 months of that.
I reached out to my ex 3 times since the breakup and each was about a week or just a couple days apart and she answered and got colder towards me and the last time she just plain ignored me trust me no contact would of been better

Craig is absolutely right. I did all the classic mistakes during the breakup because it was mostly my fault, so I was desperate and then I tried to communicate after almost a year. I just asked how she was doing- no answer of course. I found out that she rushed into a new relationship less than a couple of months after our breakup.

I did the begging, pleading, made a picture collage board, bargaining, etc. None of it worked and only made her avoid me more. No contact and breaking that codependency is the only thing that worked. It’s been 2 months since the break up and let me tell ya, my anxiety got the best of me by last Friday. Thankfully I talked to my therapist and he told me the best thing I could do is just tell my ex how I felt about our situation. We met up. I talked, she listened and acknowledged everything I had to say and vice versa. She didn’t take me back but that’s okay with me at this point because I got to pour my heart out in a positive way, so in a way I got closure. BUT get this…. Her attitude changed entirely as soon as I left her that day, she started texting me (asking me questions) seeming genuinely interested. She reminded me of a party she wanted to go to with me and even asked to watch a movie at my place :) things are looking good, we may not be together but that’s okay, I think all it takes is time and some space :))

I reached out to my ex the beginning of this year with a surprise visit with flowers and a letter. We ended up dating again until early September.
I want to reach out, but I know that I'm dishonoring her, myself and the relationship we had by doing that. She ended things and I need to hear her and give her her need of space from me. It's painful and even tho my reach out garnered amazing memories with the person I love it ultimately didn't result in the results I wanted.
I think it's best to sit with yourself and sit with the anxiety or just do something to get your mind off the matter. I still feel everything when I calmed down but it's not to such a degree that I feel overwhelmed and or like there's a death.

I lost count how many times i reached out to my ex. No reply. Now i have to start from day 1 of no contact again.
My ex just said he doesn't know why, but he felt like he didn't want to spend time with me, and he feels like he is causing me to waste my life. This and other things makes me believe he is a Fearful Avoidant. It's been only 10 days. Seems like a year. So weird how the time element gets so distorted to the person who has been "let go".

Is there ever a distinguishable point where once they start reaching out that it's okay to start reaching out back? I feel my ex becomes stubborn sometimes where they stop reaching out because they don't want to be the only one reaching out all the time. It's ok to reply if they reach out first.
I'd suggest discussing with them/thinking about what went wrong, think about your expectations, and see where you can both improve. Respect them but also respect yourself
Craig also talks about breadcrumming in some of his videos, the indirect direct actions. If they aren't explicitly wanting to get back with you, don't give them an inch when it comes to reassuring them. They might be fishing for reassurance without giving you ground to work with reassuring yourself.
sometimes a fearful avoidant may not reach out because of intense fear of rejection, esepcially if things ended really badly. so, tread lighlty with this advice.

My ex ended the relationship by ghosting me. I spent a week reaching out. I stopped for some time. Then reach out by phone and text still nothing. I got desperate and sent a good well or clean slate email. Every effort was ignored and only made me feel worse. When someone walks away you have to walk in the opposite direction. Chasing after them will only hurt you.
The guy I dated for a month and a half came back after almost 2 months of NC. Everything was going great at first then I realise that he wouldn’t try to meet my needs so I stood up for myself. I confronted him and he said he’s sorry he couldn’t compromise. I initiated the “breakup” and we ended on good terms (no yelling, no blocking, etc)

Ok, now I didn’t really reach out on this year on Halloween, I “accidentally” FaceTimed her and hung up. A few seconds later, she did the same. It all happened when, on the same night, I had an image pop in my head of her kissing someone (more of a peck on the lips) and I started to hyperventilate. I couldn’t get that image out of my head and I started crying uncontrollably the next two days, as I did on day one of the breakup. Perhaps our souls are connected and are one. After that happened, I noticed that she unblocked me on Facebook. Now, she blocked me on Facebook but not Instagram and I wondered why only on one platform. 🤷🏻
Don’t think I’ll ever hear from mine again. Went no contact back in January after she blocked me out of the blue for no reason. We had a fight 2 days prior, but apologized to one another and next thing I know I was blocked. Hey coach Craig. Wondering your thoughts. It’s been 8.5 months NC. I’ve dropped 85lbs, quit my bad habits (that lead to the breakup), got a promotion at work. Changed my life completely and many thanks to your videos. I’ve also started dating again and feel pretty good. As of late she has gone from posting super positive (going out partying) things on social media to posting really sad posts, etc. I’m wondering if this is dumpers regret but also seeing some of the great things I have done. I’ve also noticed a lot of mirroring on social media. She posts similar to my stories shortly after with a similar theme (some times with a “one upping” to it. But she’s stubborn so wondering if I should reach out? Either way, I’m super proud of my growth.
Don’t reach out dude. Like he said in the video, your brain will try and trick you with reasons for you to reach out. It’s why the clean slate message exists in the first place, it’s just to say how much you screwed up during the breakup bc of stuff like that. If she is viewing your social media and mirroring, she will probably keep escalating in behavior and reach out at some point. Keep working on yourself and the rest will come.

I ask myself the same question. But I guess with me, the difference is that I was dumped and in her previous relationships she was dumped so there was a sense of pride in not going back in her previous relationships. Also, in my previous relationships where I was good to them (as in this one) but still dumped, they did reach out after a while. But by then I had already moved on. Just have to analyze those previous relationships and see how they differ from yours and have faith that you’re somebody worthy of being missed. Easier said than done but we really have no choice.

I did a strict no contact period for 45 days. I made handmade meatballs which was an inside thing with us and dropped them on his porch after leaving him a message letting him know. He texted the next day that he loved them. 9 days later I texted him about my turtle dying and we had a positive catch up type of exchange. 6 days later I asked him about this thing he told me about for my dog and he said he was going to get it for me, then a couple days later I texted him when I got my tattoo and it was positive. The next day he reached out to me unprompted. The no contact period sucked and before I started it, he stonewalled me, while watching my social media every day.

I reached out many many times and it didn’t do me any good. It left him ignoring me. It’s a difficult situation though. I made him leave my home and then he tried to repair it. Things got so bad that he didn’t want me back and then I never gave him Space. We have been on/off since July when she messed up bad. Our last day seeing g each other was 9/30/21 - I called her on my birthday 10/18/21 without her reaching out first. If she dropped her stuff at my place and wanted me to leave her stuff without being there is it over? It was a seven month relationship no arguments, in love, strong compatibility and connection. Lots of laughter. I lied about something stupid. I didn’t cheat.

What happens if you are the dumper and after working on yourself for a few months, you look for your ex, apologize and look for a mature conversation with her, but she is in a cold position, feeling that she is not interested in fixing things where we know that both of us fail at the moment of the relationship. Do you apply the same principles?
I reached out after a month with a "happy memory" text which was ignored, 9 days later I sent a text about meeting up and exchanging things which got a reply 3 days later but I was busy that day, they then ignored my reply for the next 3 days before sending a very blunt text, I didn't reach out for 3 weeks until I really wanted to get rid of their stuff (for my own wellbeing and recovery), they replied after 2 days and then we met up and it was short and uneventful. Haven't heard from them since and if I were to guess I won't hear from them ever again but I have become okay with this. I might extend the hand of friendship someday in a year or so maybe

I think I wrote this about 18 months ago. I am current;y in a very happy 7 month relationship with an amazing and beautiful girl and feel totally secure in it. I found out she was cheating and as far as I know she is still with the guy but tbh I haven't thought to check for a long time. Honestly, I have greatly outgrown her at this stage and I think this channel is of great help. Don't think about getting them back because that's not the point it's just the motivation. There are so so many people in the world. My best recommendation is to go solo travel and stay in social hostels where you will meet tons of people. Forget about dating apps and get out of your city if you can. Helps open the doors. If you're going through it right now just keep going and work on yourself where you can. If you fall down and start being sad again that's okay ( I did plenty) but life is long
