I believe I was at this event, there was a bunch of dark matches before the show. The main was flair vs goldberg it ended with nWo bringing in Torrie Wilson to pull in David Flair.
I grew up watching Nitro haha, 34 now. I was a huge mark for Jericho as TV champ and Psychosis, Mysterio, Sting and DDP mostly. I remember vividly seeing the episode where Hogan also came back in the red and yellow
Thankfully I was born before this edition of Nitro (well before it in fact), I was done with WCW by this point. The Finger Poke was the back breaker for me, as I couldn't stand Hogan and was honestly okay with Nash winning the title at Starrcade. But putting the nWo back together again after all that went down in 98, felt pointless to me. Like, the only thing that I remember about this Nitro was the opening segment which had more David Flair than any of us ever needed or wanted. This of course led to Goldberg, who bless his heart, they absolutely WASTED after his win over Hogan. Like, this was even worse than what WWE did with Warrior after he beat Hogan at Mania for real. In the end, I think Goldberg just didn't become what the win over Hogan should've made him. Uncensored 99 had the plum dumbest heel turn ever, with Flair going heel to beat Hogan. Even I, as a Flair fan and being anti Hogan just couldn't get this. Anyway, the go home Nitro had Flair v. Goldberg which was legit better than I expected it to be. Hogan and Nash were on commentary and they actually added to the match. (Reckon we got a hint Flair was going heel, cause he was blatantly low blowing Goldberg throughout.) WCW was rudderless at this point and as unwatchable as can be. WWE wasn't much better all told, but guys like Rock and Austin kept it somewhat interesting.
Rey losing his mask was actually Bischoff’s idea and the reason he did it was the same reason he had Juventud remove his mask; he thought that they would be more marketable without their masks.
The other big advantage for ratings WWF had was it was far more readily available nationally where wcw for places like canada was on a premium channel with many of the cable providers at the time
Actually TNT wasn't available at all in Canada at the time due to CANCON laws unless you had an illegal satellite hookup, although TBS was available on most cable packages, so missing Thunder was never an issue (oh joy!)... to make matters worse for WCW, the network that did air Nitro nationally, TSN (The Sports Network) had an exclusive deal with WWF to air Raw live, so Nitro got buried on like Wednesday afternoons. Kinda ironic that they buried the more family-friendly show in a timeslot when most kids can't watch it, but they put the rampant TNA on Raw front and centre in prime time lol
I was 7 years old and I was like wtf is going on watching the first hour of no wrestling. I think it was my first wtf this sucks moment watching wrestling. Lol
Mike Enos was Blake Beverly in WWE, member of the Beverly Brothers. Also, after hearing what those 4 matches were, I would be even more pissed about the 1st hour. I would have enjoyed most of those matches.
Listening to this back this thought popped in my head DPW wrestling Tony and John commentary match pulse versus Johnny Swinga with special guest referee David flair Nanu Nanu Nanu Nanu I don’t know how it should be spelled Edit: with ring announcer Scott Steiner and special guest commentator Black Snow
15:23 triggering memories It was Bob. They had a baby, it's a boy In march 1999 I'm a couple months away from 13 years old... I learned about WCW wrestling somewhere around that time in middle school, from my friends playing wcw vs the world
David Flair pulling Torrie Wilson is what made me stop watching WCW for WWE. David Flair was such a weenie and even at 9/10 years old I knew that would never happen in the real world.
David Flair also known as the guy with the worst titantron ever. Just clips of Ric flair looking disappointed and sad
No man that was the greatest titantron of all time.
Sounds like you meant the BEST titantron ever lol
Da na na na na na na na na
clips? you mean *clip*
its literally that one clip and david flair stretching
That Steiner-Bagwell segment is definitely a TNA 2006 level comedy angle. Proof that WCW never actually died.
I pretty sure that one segment gave tna 5 years of ideas
This show is TWENTY TWO days older than me?
OH MAN WHY ME
GOLDBERG
Bro, no joke. Me too
I’m older than it by 2 years, a week, and a day
I'm younger than it by 14 days
I was 5 and was 100% either watching or I was at least in the room. Pops didn't play about Monday night 😂
no wrestling for one hour? sounds like a modern episode of raw
Funny, not true at all,but funny
@@Kobe24brady12 It wouldn't of been wrong 2 years ago
Literally just had raw after mania with no wrestling for the first hour
@@yourface1218 Man WWE killed all my interest so quick when Vince returned. Shame lmao
@@Kobe24brady12 What the hell have you been watching? You not see the raw after mania? It had a total of 16 minutes for three hours. Shrill.
8:15 That's just the tune from Elmo's World
You ain’t lying either
This is the song, this is the song, the Nitro soooong.
Plz talk about that Saturday Morning Slam episode where Daniel Bryan had an obsession with BEARS
Yes, please! 🤩😂
I believe I was at this event, there was a bunch of dark matches before the show. The main was flair vs goldberg it ended with nWo bringing in Torrie Wilson to pull in David Flair.
I was 7 or 8.
Those NWO rascals are always causing trouble
Me vibin not being born until 2003
2K3 squad
Us '03 boys strong out here
I feel so bad for y’all.
Ric Flair doesn’t give a *SHIT* about his son...with all due respect
Or maybe he does! I’m not too sure, JACK!!
I was 11 years old when this episode of WCW aired. Man, I'm old..
Is it sad the best match on both wrestling shows that day sounds like dlo brown vs Owen Hart in a street fight which sounds amazing
The Mankind/Stone Cold match was good, actually. Owen and Dlo was disappointing (just watched it the other week)
My mom probably just found out she was pregnant when this show aired, born Nov ‘99
That’s awesome
I could swear Torrie's name was Samantha or something like that at first.
I was born on the day this show aired
This show is about 9 months older than me.
Thankfully I wasn't alive to have had to sit through it.
The show is 9 months older than you? There's a very real possibility that your parents conceived you to this show.

This comment is like a time machine
This episode is not on the WWE Network for some reason. It skips to the next week.
9 months and 28 days before I graced this earth.
Disorderly Conduct is the criminally underrated Texas Hangmen tag team.
"I was thinkin... how is this bad for David Flair"
Tony that's so true
Nearly 5 years old when this aired oh god that makes me old
Hi dad
I grew up watching Nitro haha, 34 now. I was a huge mark for Jericho as TV champ and Psychosis, Mysterio, Sting and DDP mostly. I remember vividly seeing the episode where Hogan also came back in the red and yellow

I wasn’t even conceived when this shit happened lmao hell I probably hadn’t even been thought of
I was 6 when this show happened, stop making me feel old Deadlock!
My first birthday was two days after this. Wild.
This episode was on my fourth birthday. I also didn't wrestle for an hour that day.
Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell would make a great cop sitcom duo
We’ve just gotten to this point in Wrestling Bios’ Reliving the War series and whooo boy WCW has been very rocky.
Mean gene quote of the century "PUT THAT CIGARETTE OUT!!!" This show was 8 days before my 12th bday and I have no recollection of any of it lmao
I was about to turn 11 at this time, but I had given up on WCW after the Finger Poke of Doom.
Before the Fingerpoke of Doom happened, WCW spoiled Mick Foley’s WWE title win and that stunt backfired big time
The Finger Poke of Doom is the ultimate, "We don't give a fuck about your time or intelligence"
This show is 6 days older than me LMAO
OMG no one gives a shit
I was 4 years and 361 days old when this episode aired
Rey losing his mask was actually Bischoff’s idea and the reason he did it was the same reason he had Juventud remove his mask; he thought that they would be more marketable without their masks.
Which is especially hilarious considering how much money WWE has made on Rey Mysterio merchandise
Now this happens every week on RAW
That episode is 9 months older than me, to the day

Bruce Prichard must not have caught hour 1 because it was laden with K-Dogg videos.
Arn Anderson is younger than Bret Hart.
Always blew my mind that.
Born December of '99 here!
Remember that one episode of Raw that had one hour of no wrestling?
I was only a couple months old when this show aired
