I really like this ending what if. It's a scenario that I could logically see happening in Super. Universe 7 fail to beat Jiren, but in a way they also succeed, as their resolve and characters change Jiren's outlook as a person. So much so that he ends up making the correct wish to restore all of the universes.
Jiren never even wanted to be at the tournament, he thought fighting for the universes to be destroyed was bad. It’s pretty obvious he would wish for it to be reversed
Definitely, would've been a more ballsy and "thinking out of the box" plotline to have the protagonists not win...but only to realize in a way they did win in the end. Not with battle power this time, but by influencing Jiren and winning over his heart. Which would've been aligned with the ToP's true goals.
@@micalangenburg1706 bruh, Anime Jiren literally attacked the freaking Audience when he was losing, while Manga Jiren didn't even want to participate if it meant that he can cause other universes to be destroyed. Manga Jiren definitely will change his mind like in this What If, Anime Jiren won't.
Damn, I actually think this would have been a better ending for the show. It wouldn't really change anything and it gives Jiren some actual character development that he severely lacked. It wouldn't take anything away from 17's development either since he had his self-sacrifice moment earlier. Edit: I think Goku would have kept his promise to revive Frieza, too, even though they lost. Everything that happens after this point should basically be the same.
@@usuario15965 I don't think so. All the hype moments of the tournament would still be there. UI Goku mopped the floor with Jiren. He just ran out of time. Jiren winning after everyone's worn out is a twist that people wouldn't see coming, but it makes sense. Everyone always expects the protagonist to pull out the win.
Honestly this could've been an amazing ending to the ToP. Arguably better than what we got. This would show us that the universe is bigger than we think and there are people far stronger than Goku, Vegeta and prett much every U7 individual (mortals only). It was a waste to introduce the grand multiverse and immediately force it into small boxes comprising of the 10 best fighters. As for what this could lead to. We get Jiren's development as a person, but his power trumps all mindset has been crushed as he only won through the hopes of his comrades. We get Goku and Vegeta finally realizing their limitations as opposed to always finding the right answer. This makes mastering UI and eventually UE more impactful as they have to dig deeper into themselves as Jiren already did.
Jiren is a such an amazing character. He’s practically the strongest mortal in the multiverse, and had great character development. It would be awesome if he came back into the story at some point.

To be fair the previous arc was a phyrric victory for the villain. Zamazu might not have lived to see it, but his actions caused the destruction of the universe. Trunks & friends were definitely the losers there.
@asthor93 Well it technically it didn't matter anyway, since both Zamasu from Goku's timeline and Goku Black from Trunks are already dead. And it was already said that ones Trunks returns in time, he will arrive in a world where Goku Black's never happened. So in the end it was still Trunks win, since that Timeline became non-existent thanks to Zero.
I got to give props to Jiren! All this time he's been stuck with his haunting past! Which is heartbreaking and understandable. But in the end. He finally found himself a new desire, not only that he learned to let go! W Jiren in the chat!
this should have been the correct ending. Jiren after facing Universe 7 changes his heart and being a hero what he was not a maniac villain, he had already decided that he will restore all universes as he values justice.
People keep saying Jiren got actual character development in this what if as opposed to actual series. I disagree. Most of this stuff was already in the actual series and is just reiterating what he said and did. I actually acknowledge Jiren has a personality and character development in the official series and I think fans weren’t paying attention. The only notable difference besides Jiren winning is him fighting Roshi which is asinine and is only there to be a reference to that happening in the equally asinine Dragonball Super manga written by that hack Toyotaro. Bottom line, I think Jiren is an underrated character.
This was probably the original script but Toei must have pressured toriyama into changing it so Goku didn't "lose" the battle. It really made no sense why 17 randomly wished for all the universes back. He had no motivation to do that.
17 was already content with life and didn't have any wish of his own. I think it makes perfect sense that he would wish for all the damage to be undone.
@@aRandomFox00 But up until the wish, 17 showed no concern for universes being erased. He didn't even care when Goku told him that universe 7 could be erased if they lost. He accepted that if they were erased then that was fate.
Eh, 17s a ranger, a conservationist. His passion extending to the other universes in that moment makes sense. But I agree this is a great alternative ending.
I like this ending more than how the Tournament of Power ended in the anime and manga because the canon ending is the protagonists won. It's good to see the main antagonist (Jiren) win and the protagonists get erased but the main antagonist is also the one who will revive them and all the erased universes because of character development and change of heart. If this really is how the Universe Survival Saga ended, then it will be the first Saga which that same Saga's main antagonist is the one who became the hero who saved the Universe 7 and to some extent, all universes instead of the main protagonist or one of his friends doing it.
Was it just me or was jiren's fights really hard? Don't get me wrong im not complaining, it should be hard by all means but man call me trunks cuz i have android PTSD now
Canonically, on the surface this entire tournament of power seems like it was just for Zen-oh's entertainment, but in truth it was a test. All the participating universes were actually already condemned from the start. The purpose of the tournament was to see what would the most powerful mortal in all 7 universes wish for if they had the chance to wish for literally anything. You don't become that strong by being content with a quiet life - instead you're constantly pushing yourself, chasing ever greater heights in pursuit of some higher ambition. So if the most ambitious person in 7 universes was given the opportunity to have any wish granted, what would they wish for? If it was a selfless wish, Zen-oh was going to give all the universes a 2nd chance to get their shit together. But if it was a selfish wish, he was going to go ahead and erase all 7 anyway.
this what if make me wonder again.... If I remember correctly... Zeno plan to set zero everything if wish is anything but "all erased universe to be restore" right? so how many in all fighter will make that wish..... chance of everything go to zero seem to be ridiculous high😂
