For anyone confused by the narrative. The Helghast started off as a corporation on on Earth. After colonizing Alpha Centauri, the Helghan Corporation more or less became it's own nation and set up heavy mining facilities on Helghan while colonists under the command of the corporation's CEO Philip Vekta, landed on and named the planet Vekta and help fund the newly created ISA. Eventually, the Helghan Corporation secedes from the UCN and causes the First Extrasolar War where the Helghast attempt to kick all UCN and ISA forces out of Alpha Centauri. This fails and extreme sanctions are placed on the Helghast and pretty much end with them exiled to Helghan where they were all expected to die due to the planet's barely habitable environment. They don't and eventually mutate/evolve to the planet and the Helghast rebuild, eventually start the Second Extrasolar War with the intent on taking Vekta back. After the failure of the invasion of Vekta, the Vekta branch of the ISA launches the invasion of Helghan to dismantle the Helghast war machine and permanently remove them as a threat. The Vekta ISA invasion fails and with the unauthorized execution of Helgahst Autarch Scolar Visari by a undisciplined soldier, the two states are are war for far longer than anyone is prepared for, including the Earth based UCN, which desperately needs the resources from Alpha Centauri. The UCN finally manages to broker a peace treaty that is mutually beneficial to all parties involved, at the cost of the Vektan soldiers still left on Helghan from the initial invasion. These soldiers disobey the order to stand down and make a last ditch effort to escape the planet on their own. MEanwhile, without Scolar Visari, the Helghan Empire is being run by a council of aristocrats, and largely boils down to two men; Jorhan Stahl and Admiral Orlock. Stahl disagrees with the terms of the peace treaty that Orlock has brokered and eventually strikes off on his own, capturing the rebel ISA forces and begins executing them on a live broadcast to show that he is the superior leader, though he is interrupted by the rebel forces that he did not capture freeing their friends. During this, the rebel ISA forces discover that Jorhan Stahl is preparing a bioweapon and targeting Earth in a mad bid for total and complete control over the ISA and UCN. The ISA rebels decide to stop this attack from happening and make for the space elevator to the orbital shipyard where the weapon is being loaded onto a Helghast warship. Admiral Orlock, now Autarch Orlock, arrives on the orbital shipyard to arrest Stahl for violating the peace agreement, but is ultimately murdered by Stahl. The ISA troops board at roughly the same time and after a struggle that extends into space, manage to disable the Helghast cruiser carrying the bioweapon. However this causes the bioweapon to be deployed over Helghan, and kills a majority of the population on the surface of the planet. Only those that were underground were spared. The accidental genocide is made known to all of human space and though the ISA troops expected to be hailed as heroes, they were most likely arrested and tried for war crimes, as at the time of the genocide, the ISA, the UCN and the Helghan Empire were at peace. During this time, the UCN forces the ISA to accept Helghast refugees and a total and complete end to the conflict facing what was surely massive public outcry from the civilian populations on Earth. The UCN forces Vekta to divide it's primary city and that the Helghast be given complete and total free reign over it as recompense. Forced eviction and executions ofVektan civilians are overlooked in the name of sustained peace, which lasts for fifteen years before militant elements begin disrupting that peace. Thus the events of Shadow Fall come to pass, and that with the final elimination of Shadow Marshal Sinclair and the reveal of the web of intrigue that pushed the Helghast and ISA back to war are revealed, possibly easing tensions and preventing another cataclysmic war. So for TLDR, the Helghast actually are the rightful owners of Vekta, but they got screwed over by Earth who needed resources. That set off a series of devastating wars that made the UCN even more strapped for resources until it was finally forced to involve itself fully and force a peace treaty. ISA elements still on Helghan disobeyed several direct orders that caused the conflict to escalate and then murdered in peace time a entire planet woeth of civilians before the UCN finally said ENOUGH and smacked the ISA and Vekta in the face with the Peace stick. Then years later militant assholes in both factions get uppity and try to restart the wars of their heydays.
Good synopsis...accept that you added several explanatory elements that the game's writers neglected to (political opinion back on Earth, that the destruction of Helgan was considered a crime rather than "tragic accident caused by Helgan's own warlike tendencies"), meaning you are probably a better writer than the game's actual writer. It still doesn't explain the failure of the victorious parties to take away the vanquished's ability to make war. Or why the politicians of the ISA and Earth wouldn't just turn the disaster around and blame the Helghast...after all, that was *their* weapon, intended for *Earth*. Another thing to note, what exactly were the ISA soldiers ordered to do? Surrender for public execution? The people of Earth would have been unlikely to support that, in fact they'd be more likely to support a genocide than that. ("Us vs them" mentality, we tend to value the lives of our people a lot more than others...especially others that build superweapons to kill us). My point is: the writing in this series sucks, no way around that.
Rico is so much of a trained soldier wow so mentaly stable too, surely you would allow him to participate in the MOST important operation of the war to date.

I sat here and watched every single Killzone campaign cutscene that youtube has to offer and was really getting in to where this one goes. That ending.
It caught me off guard in the end of the game. But then again, it’s one of the few Killzone games that makes the main character seem innocent, and how he did nothing wrong.
So the Vectans utterly defeat the Hellghast and the first thing they do with their newly conquered foes is just hand over half their planet to them?! And on top that they don't even evacuate their own citizens first? Pfft, and who says videogames need better writers?
the Helghan peole originally lived on Vekta, it was their home before the ISA showed up. when they did show up, the Vektans were forced out and had to live on Helghan (a harsh environment) but overtime they made it a civilisation and had an army. the battle between the ISA and the Helghast went on for years, and shit really hit the fan in Killzone 3. but after all they hit the Helghast with, it still didn't end them. the fight would've continued for years if they didn't make peace
I agree. What’s done is done. They should have let the Helghast perish there and move on from history. Instead, they brought them in and prolonged the conflict lol. These other fools in the comments are quite hilarious too. They have no concept of reality. If they are North Americans, I hope they pack up and leave because those lands belonged to Indigenous tribes. Might as well argue for every other historically conquered lands. The Helghast brought this on themselves since their attempted invasion in KZ1.
James Mortimer The ISA didn't mean to destroy the planet, the hengast were transporting those missiles to destroy earth, but the ship was destroyed so it kind of destroyed their own planet. And it was earth how told them that the the hengast could take half the planet, because they are fed up of the war they started
What i dont get is why all of this is happening! Their homeworld destroyed ther should only be a handful of Helghast left. Even if they were allowed o relocate to half of an occupied planet, I would think half the Earth fleet would be parked over their heads. I loved this game and it's just stupid to see where this last installment has gone. *shakes head sadly*
Okay so I'm completely new to the Killzone Franchise. I like older games so I decided to get Killzone and stuff with my PS2 slim (Had a GameCube back then and still do) I quickly fell in love with the first game and its formula. It really is a classic that was cutting edge for its time. The gunplay is really fun once you've got the hang of it. Its fairly challenging on hard thanks to no health regen so +. I like Luger and Hakha. Rico is love/hate because he's an idiot but useful in combat and Templar is basically the squad's simpering wuss that I laugh at. Anywho this game seems so different from the first one and the ISA seem to have developed a severe case of GDI syndrome. The story is... Not as good as Killzone IMO. I feel like Killzone is more coherent as a game judging from what I've seen.
In the Horizon Zero Dawn Documentary, one of the developers mentioned that they started developing Killzone Shadow simultaneously with Horizon, and that KZ was developed as an open world game to test the waters while Horizon was still in pre production. In broad strokes the engine and the mechanics could be transferred to develop horizon, while swapping out the assets. Looking back at this game with this information now, the entire game looks more like a tech demo, and everything in this game really look like generic placeholders so that most of the studio's art department could focus on the beautiful game that is now Horizon.
It is funny how Vektans are the protagonists and shown as the good guys. But just imagine the liberals Vektans saying refugees not welcome, they would be labeled as traitors ;)
Cutting off before the impact at the end was lame. I've been waiting the whole video to see him catch a bullet. Really interesting watching it like a movie in first person, falling through Helgan remains was cool.
"Vekta, those that were responsible for Helgans destruction" For fucks sake, did the narrator ever play Killzone 3, it was their own damn fault their planet turned to shit.
Um...because a helghast built ship filled to the brim with helghast designed weapons of mass destruction was detonated over the helghast planet? Maybe not helghast fault because the ISA blew up the ship, but still ironic as fuck. The weapons the helghast sought to use to destroy their enemie's planet, was used against them.
And I'm just here, waiting for Earth to finally have enough of this shit and send a "peacekeeping ops" to both helgan and vekta and rekt them all a new asshole like a master beating the crap out of a cat and a dog fighting until both stop. (then the next game will be about helgast and vektans reluctantly working together against Earth)
virgilio moncada Good point, you'd think at this point Earth's governments should not take it likely at the fact there's a massive army of space Nazis at arms reach with them and in worse case once they're done with Vekta what's next lol
The game had too many plotholes, for one, both sides are the bad guys(Helghast and ISAVSA) and cared too much about territory as opposed to the survival of their people. Secondly, Sinclair and Stahl are both antagonists in the sense that they want to annihilate one another. Thirdly, Sinclair betrays Lucas for disobeying him on Echo and wants to instigate another war, and Echo, whose intentions are good only made things worse by sniping Sinclair as opposed to a hand to hand combat and putting Sinclair in vektan prison.
Okay, i absolutely hate what this series turned out to and im glad i didnt buy nor rent this game. But thank you for placing this video up on youtube. Answered some curiousity.
I never understood this game story. I mean...Helghast start a war. Try to kill lots of people. Then make weapons that blow up their own world. So...they get half of the world they were trying to conquer? What the hell???
(thinking logically) the sniper that kills the commander at the end must surely have been one of his own men given an order from him to kill him, i mean, the girl wants to avoid conflict at all costs, making a martyr of him in public would only lead to all out war and invasion, maybe she was trying to stop the sniper but failed, possibly we play as her in the next game, first mission is a failed attempt to stop this sniper....
Such a bad plot. "A truce was negotiated, where they gave up half of their planet to the enemy, an enemy which hates their guts because of their home planets destruction, then they got really surprised when that same enemy attacked them, attempting to take full control of the planet." Seriously. It's indefensible. They should have just let all the Helghast die.
You dont know enough about the lore. The ISA are responsible for the mass genocide of the Helghast, and the UCN on Earth forced the Vektans to give up part of the planet to those Helghast that survived. I'd say thats somewhat fair. And theres a good reason why the Helghast hate the ISA/UCN/Vektans, because Vekta (planet) actually belonged to them before being evicted from it. They were then forced to live on Helghan, which in turn, caused them great suffering. SO yeah, the Helghast have an axe to grind.
@@bigwezz While I'm confused and don't agree with my brash statement that they should have let all the Helghast die, you seem to forget it was the Helghans who started the First Extrasolar War, which is what caused them to perform a mass exodus to Helghan. They then instigated the second Extrasolar War, though I'd place the Onus for the Vektan Cold War on both of their shoulders, not just the Helghan's. I don't feel sorry for what happened to the Helghans though, because, much like Germany, they basically planned Genocide in the second war, using the Terracite warheads. At least the ISA let them leave for another planet, and it was their own weapons being used against them which caused the Terracide in the first place. But instead of swallowing their anger at having their plans thwarted, they decided a third conflict was just the ticket they needed, making them more similar to Argentina than anything, picking fights to distract everyone from the fact that they suck. I just want to re-iterate this, The Helghast. Shot. First. In both Extrasolar Wars, it was Helghan activities which ignited the conflict. During the first, it was literally the Helghan Administration attempting to secede from UCN Control. In the Second, Helghast forces literally invaded Vekta to start the war. At that point, I think that axe is already broken.
@@Kaiimei and why did they start the first war exactly? Was it because the UCN were demanding too much and feared the Helghan trade tariffs? Was it because the UCN were preparing a fleet to force the Helghans to bend over even though the UCN sold the sector to the Helghans? The Helghans were backed into a corner. Either submit to the UCN and lose their wealth and resources, or attempt to defend themselves. Don't get me wrong, you are correct in what you say, and its easy to slap the "bad guy sticker" on the Helghans, but they arent passed for no reason. In fact, the story is so interesting, and has many underlying factors, I'd like to see it as a TV show. Something like GoT before it turned to shit at about season 5/6.
@@bigwezz Just because they sold the sector to the Helghans doesn't mean they're exempt from UCN laws. I will, however, concede the point that the heavy-handed approach of levying hefty taxes, space-travel regulations and revoking the Helghan Administration's right to maintain a fleet of ships and levy their own taxes was not the right response. The simple fact still remains that they started the war. They wouldn't have lost their wealth, as Alpha Centauri has plenty to offer the Helghan Corporation in terms of raw resources. The UCN's hands were tied until they declared war. If they attempted to reclaim any part of Alpha-C, the public opinion of the UCN would have smashed through the floor, probably sparking numerous rebellions and sessions from other border colonies who would fear that the UCN would simply reclaim their territory or force them to accept high tax rates and tariffs. Then you have the exodus. Helghan terrorists began attacking earth-loyal colonists in a weird attempt to persecute and intimidate them. That bit just seems like bad writing to me honestly, why the hell would they do that I have no idea outside of illogical aggression. In response, increasingly-draconian punishments were levied to stymie the tide of attacks, until near-all Helghan loyalists left the planet for Helghast. The embargoes levied which caused a famine was certainly not very kosher of the ISA or UCN, which led to Scolar Visari taking over in a coup and rousing the Helghans into action once more. And the more I write, the more I both empathize, but also still despise the Helghans. The thing is, if they just conceded to the trade tariffs and other changes in the first place, proving that the Helghan Administration weren't interested in seceding, that they wanted to stay linked to Earth, Killzone would never have happened. But hey, people will be greedy I guess. Considering that the Helghan's had a strangehold on the economy, I think the UCN's fear that they would do something extreme was well-founded. But hey, we could debate this all day, in the end, both sides did some pretty crappy and bad things.
Honestly, neither faction Really deserves sympathy. Yes, the Helgasts were abused and murdered in mass, but dude, you constantly bully and murder civilians, and you have a permanent scowl on your mask with evil red eyes. It's no surprise people attack you; stop acting like the attack on your people was unprovoked. (Dunno the while series plot, but I hope it really was justified) Obviously the civilian kills weren't, but come on, they look like demon nazis
croissant beatz actually if you think about it. It was mostly Stalh's fault, if he hadn't made the bioweapon that he wanted to use on Earth. Helghan wouldn't have been destroyed.
The Vektans were stupid for giving Helghan refuge on their homeworld, they could've ended them right away but they gave them another chance, with the Helghans backstabbing them as expected :P The UCN started the First Extrasolar War to wipe them out due to them exploiting the UCN when they were weak but didn't even do it when they were at their weakest....
You also gotta remember that the ISA were basically abusing the Helghan economically and the Helghan tried to work it out but it was just impossible, so they fought. This doesn’t change the fact that Helghan do a lot of fucked up shit, so basically everyone in this story is actually pretty bad. Both sides just want more power.
For people wondering why the ISA let the Helghast on their planet... they didn't. The government of Earth forced the ISA to let the Helghast occupy Vekta because of what happened on Henghan. They had no choice.
Why is everyone defending the space nazis? "Oh they destroyed their home world!" Yea well it was with their own bomb so don't know how that's their fault. Wasn't even their guys. A rogue faction decided that they were bad and decided to take them out. Hell they didn't even like the Vekta from the start so frankly everything seen was either justified or an unfortunate accident.
I know right. “Uhhh i like helghast cuz armor is kool”. The game’s story made no sense regardless. Any smart nation would know to let the Helghastsmperish on Helghan.
One would have thought that they made a 6 game franchise 3 chapters playing the ISA then the Helgast between would have made a more interesting story from both sides

when they did show up, the Vektans were forced out and had to live on Helghan (a harsh environment) but overtime they made it a civilisation and had an army. the battle between the ISA and the Helghast went on for years, and shit really hit the fan in Killzone 3. but after all they hit the Helghast with, it still didn't end them. the fight would've continued for years if they didn't make peace
So ISA went like "Okay... sorry for the genocide thing. but hey you can do the same to the half of one of our planets if that makes you feel better."
+krazykingkush I don't think it's literally 'half' the entire planet.
krazykingkush Did you and half of the comment section even follow the lore and story of the previous games?
Too true
Who else wants a game where you play as Echo?
MsDaydream3r nobody
Me
"initiate exposure" ** guy dying --- Dead ** " Okay... looks promising... " in such a casual voice...

That shit got a LOT creepier as i got older wtf
Wait how I don't get it
Cutting off before the impact at the end was lame. I've been waiting the whole video to see him catch a bullet. Really interesting watching it like a movie in first person, falling through Helgan remains was cool.

1:16:54. This re-armament and fleet rebuild is (in my opinion) more believable then the one in Star Wars ep9.
The Helghast at 27:22 Ugh, my absolute favourite armour design. Despite it looking like a kitty 😂💀
Hellcat.
"Vekta, those that were responsible for Helgans destruction"
For fucks sake, did the narrator ever play Killzone 3, it was their own damn fault their planet turned to shit.
Donte Thomas dude visari nuked his own capital lmao how is that not killing themselves.
I LOVE KILLZONE
Chapter 4 is my favorite just because of how beautiful it was
And I'm just here, waiting for Earth to finally have enough of this shit and send a "peacekeeping ops" to both helgan and vekta and rekt them all a new asshole like a master beating the crap out of a cat and a dog fighting until both stop.
What the hell???
advkow you obviously didn't understand the story
@@blkstrai He already stated he don't understood the story, dumbass.
Maybe you should have read more about the lore..
Jacob1755 the sniper is the girl, she is killing him in revenge
I like how we all agree to forget this game ever happened
I never forget the series. I wish I can still play KZ2 on the ps3
The game ends like that?
Man, we really need a new Killzone game
Maybe one where you play as Helghast and fight for a new homeplanet
The more I watch of killzone the more I see the resemblance between this and the cold war
Capitalism vs communism
Aight so uh, the fuck you talkin about. It's obvious Fascism vs Capitalism.
Such a bad plot. "A truce was negotiated, where they gave up half of their planet to the enemy, an enemy which hates their guts because of their home planets destruction, then they got really surprised when that same enemy attacked them, attempting to take full control of the planet."
Seriously. It's indefensible. They should have just let all the Helghast die.
The truce was forced upon Vekta by the Earth-based United Colonial Nations (UCN).
Vektans: You savages! How could you kill these civilians?!?? Helghans: You killed our second home and committed mass genocide against our people
I was really hoping the sniper girl would save the main charecter in the end and the two start becoming close and all but no. This is what I got.
It's pretty funny that as the games go on they tried harder and harder to make the Helghast evil and less sympathetic
Anybody have mercenary?
Honestly, neither faction Really deserves sympathy.
Yes, the Helgasts were abused and murdered in mass, but dude, you constantly bully and murder civilians, and you have a permanent scowl on your mask with evil red eyes.
It's no surprise people attack you; stop acting like the attack on your people was unprovoked. (Dunno the while series plot, but I hope it really was justified)
Obviously the civilian kills weren't, but come on, they look like demon nazis
FurryEskimo welcome to videogameland where bad guys looks like bad guys
FurryEskimo you can't assume that they're evil because of how they look
croissant beatz actually if you think about it. It was mostly Stalh's fault, if he hadn't made the bioweapon that he wanted to use on Earth. Helghan wouldn't have been destroyed.
Stahl Killed Orlock??
banana vs pineapple in the next 300 years
21:32
He’s getting that pay check.
And
Oh no the humanity. who could do such a horrible thing. 🥱
DID HE EVEN DEPLOY THE VIRUS!!!!!!! that's my cliff hangar question
Take a guess why the planet is called Vekta.
I just wish we get a game where we play as mercenaries again or Earth Govt. Forces and mess the Vektans up
Joseph Martinez vektas are from earth and so are the Helghast
I just noticed that anyone who talked smack on the helgast get taken away probably killed or sentenced
How ironic, yet revenge is so sweet......
The new helghast dropships sound like motorcycles
what i dont get is why he didnt shoot the surveillence drone with the stun gun

The Cadets were dressed in cloak, they actually thought they would be merciful.
*STAB*😂😂😂
I miss this game :(
J4D3N UPT0N we need a new killzone next gen
yes for every spy mission send the guy who was already captured, they wont have his picture!
I blame Stahl for the destruction of Helghan
Best ending ever I truly enjoyed it well done
I wanna play as a helghast soldier
For people wondering why the ISA let the Helghast on their planet... they didn't. The government of Earth forced the ISA to let the Helghast occupy Vekta because of what happened on Henghan. They had no choice.
That plot armor...
no one cares
@@UnknownUser-gd3ls
What the fuck I see you in every video
Yes
Is very annoying
Why is everyone defending the space nazis? "Oh they destroyed their home world!" Yea well it was with their own bomb so don't know how that's their fault. Wasn't even their guys. A rogue faction decided that they were bad and decided to take them out. Hell they didn't even like the Vekta from the start so frankly everything seen was either justified or an unfortunate accident.
I know right. “Uhhh i like helghast cuz armor is kool”. The game’s story made no sense regardless. Any smart nation would know to let the Helghastsmperish on Helghan.
Fuck the ISA, all my homies want a Helghast POV game.
when this game is emulated it will look georgeous
Kalial Miah Looks gorgeous already
the intro looks like the planet of Reach in Halo
im so fucking sad that this franchise died :(
@Jack B after killzone 3
Welcome to city 17! A new alien race has took over in the next 500 years! Thanks Obama!
Did you have a choice who you gonna shoot? The scientist or the woman?
Wait he just so happened to have a minigun lying around that's not the killzone i know
Anyone still playing multiplayer? Becouse i do and i'm having a blast.
No I played it like when it came out but stoped
Is this game based before or after killzone three
After 3 obviously
5 years late I know
Seems like helghast hesitated before they killed Kellens father I mean they kinda just stood there instead of shooting when they were in sights
Where the hell is earth right now. Shouldn't they be doing something
Goofy Goober The people of Earth is making a huge profit selling weapons and resources to both sides.
50:17 now that's how you villan.
1:25:26 in my when i played the game for the first time this part got me
9:08: "Ok, NOW he's DEAD."
lucas's dad looks like David lopez
10:51 Lucas: NOOOO!
I hate how the series went from ww2 in space to call of duty on kinda earth
Don't love ISA:\
27:09 Take that mother!
One would have thought that they made a 6 game franchise 3 chapters playing the ISA then the Helgast between would have made a more interesting story from both sides
27:21 ok i die once time again... men how much people see me die?
God they screwed the pooch with this game
