The most awesome cutting and sewing technique towards a lovely finish, that I have ever come across so far, from the plethora of sewing videos I have watched so far... What an amazing pattern, what an amazing technique, thank you for this.. 👌👌
Thank you for sharing this and for your detailed explanations. The seams look so neat when using your technique. I've extended the length and made it into a knee-length dress. It looks great with and without the belt.
🙏😊 thank you for watching, I’d love to see your dress version and I can see it would work with out a belt too. If you like share your style on my Facebook or Instagram socials?

Thank you for this! Will try, don't have any linen at moment, but have some medium-weight canvas (as we call it in the USA) or some natural denim. The denim might be fun to dye with some natural dyes. There are a number of 'in season' dyes materials I could try with it.
@@newformsapparel Change of plans. :) I have a shoot with a model at the end of the month and I was hoping to do a 'dryad' theme, so will try this with a forest green linen.

For an even simpler project you could just make the belt in a really amazing retro fabric and use it to tie in big shirts or dresses. Maybe whip up a matching mask and bag while you're at it.
I think the wide belt makes the top very snazzy, and yes the belt would jazz up all sorts of other out fits made in plain black fabric or something fun like vintage Japanese silk?!
@@newformsapparel @newformsapparel I'm thinking in a Japanese print or brocade silk on a simple white cotton shirt. Or... at the moment belted coats are hot. Just find one at the op shop and voila - upcycled. Also people are always trying to belt in a baggy dress or top so, SOLUTION!
I guess what I'm saying is that this vid opens up a world of sustainable, easy to sew, non-binary fashion possibilities. Do I drop the word genius now?
@@newformsapparel dear can you explain about the pattern? imean ididnt understand what did you do for the tunic can you tell me? step. ny step in this comment 🥺
I like to use Jersey fabric. I prefer to use a sewing machine over a lover-locker. I have made my own pattern for fleece short pants. I am keen to make a long tunic. I have sensitive skin so I think jersey might be a good choice. I notice you are using woven fabric. Woven fabrics are great to start with, and if you can wear them, then you are set. I got into sewing because I can't buy anything off the shelve. Mum use to drag me to the shops, and try on many cuts of pants. None of which felt good to me. Of course she would tell the shop assistant *He's got a strange shape*. That did nothing for my confidence. Maybe its the reason I got into dressmaking. There is a total lack of anything good for male fashion. Male fashion has been dead in the water for years. Maybe if a guy had a choice to wear he would never leave the house.
I hear you, I started sewing because I found it hard to find a good fit for my body type. Would love to see anything you make, please link me in any of your social media uploads, I’m also on insta, Facebook and TikTok. Thank you so much for sharing your story ❤️
@@newformsapparel Ty I got my new sewtinc machine as I can't thread the needle and the auto threader on my singer is hopeless. I have a brother a 16 a simple but what seems a good sewing machine. My daugher is wering the top I made it looks great, and I will make more of those.
That’s a good question, I’m just demonstrating that it’s probably best to take your measurements before you decide which size you are going to make. Have you been able to access the sizing chart in the description?
@@newformsapparel OK thanks. I will see what my model's measurements are and kind of think how the fit should be and send her a mock-up, then adjust before using the linen.
If you want you could make it smaller then 60cm across (flat measurement), 120cm circumference but remember to leave room for getting the tunic on and off as a woven won’t have any stretch. So at least 4 - 6 cm either side, on a flat measurement.

this is great. Couldn't be simpler. And she INVENTED this. The belted silhouette was everywhere in the A20/W21 collections. It's on the money.
Thank you Shane, I wanted something that’s easy to sew and fashion, sometimes a hard to find combination.

iam. just confuse aftee you cut the belt and did you fold the fabric before cutting the belt? idk in General i thi k ineed your helo i will appreciate
Hello Ghazal the pattern should be drawn in and cut on the folded fabric with the selvage at one end. Hope that helps? What size are you making? 😃
thank you for sharing , but can i use a part of ur video for our video ? well be happy if you permit it
Hello, no, I’m so sorry I don’t feel comfortable with that offer. But thank you for asking.
Sophie
How many yards? I’m new and want this as my first project
Hello Janien it would depend on the width of the fabric but you couldn’t go wrong with just over 3 yards? Hope that helps ☺️
Would u show how to design + sew simple home summer dress

One question that is not 100% clear to me...how do the measurements of the bust/chest relate to the pattern?
That’s a good question, I’m just demonstrating that it’s probably best to take your measurements before you decide which size you are going to make. Have you been able to access the sizing chart in the description?
@@newformsapparel Yes, I have the sizing chart.
You can make the tunic any size you want really, and as well as the belt, which you could make smaller if you needed to.

why the strange "music"?
