What I made in 2022 // Sewing (total beginner)

  • Hi loves!
    This is a video I've been dying to make because I love watching them from other people. Like I said in the video - I am a TOTAL beginner when it comes to sewing. Expect no masterpieces, but just someone having fun with a lot of crazy fabrics. I'm a magpie when it comes to florals: can't stop buying them. It's all a bit chaotic. For 2023 I can't wait to learn some more intricate things, like making a winter coat and pants. And maybe buy less florals (just kidding, that's never gonna happen ;)).
    Here are a few tutorials and patterns I have mentioned in the video, I hope they'll be useful to you:
    Nino Jacket fabrics-store....
    Maya Ruffle Dress www.diydaisy.c...
    Retangle Sleeve Top www.diydaisy.c...
    Rori Wrap Top www.diydaisy.c...
    Dress pattern Rosery Apparel • How To Make The Perfec...
    Wrap Top Tutorial Pattern Scout • DIY - Simple Wrap Top ...
    Norma Blouse by Fibre Mood www.fibremood....
    Thank you for all the hardworking pattern makers out there! I won't be making more sewing content but am planning on making more printmaking videos soon :)
    Thank you for your time ❤️

    Hi Angelica! Wow so many beautiful makes for your first year in sewing! Everything looks so cohesive and such beautiful prints. It takes a while to find the right patterns that you’ll wear more often. It’s all learning! My clothes rack collapses like that too! 😂 lovely vlog ❤

      @angelicavis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh thank you so much! It is quite difficult to find something you'll wear a lot, I mostly want to make floral dresses but I only wear those in summer 😅 In fact I want to make one right now 😆 And yes, those racks, aargh 😅

    What an amazing year of sewing!!! I too love floral fabrics so I enjoyed seeing your makes so much! I particularly loved the first ruffle dress in the vintage fabric 😍😍 Good on you for drafting and pattern hacking 👍👍
    I had to go follow you on Instagram too because every photo you shared was absolutely stunning 😍
    Also, your English is excellent - you were easy to understand, and I couldn't hear any outside noise 😉
    Looking forward to seeing what you make in 2023! ✨✨✨

    Hello Angelica. Pleased to meet you. We all make mistakes with our sewing.... I'm unpicking as I speak!! For a beginner I love all your makes. Your English is just fine. Very easy to follow and definitely much better than my Dutch (my last name is Van Raay, and I grew up hearing Dutch, my husband is also Dutch Canadian, and his parents spoke mainly Dutch, but a different dialect from my family). But so have lots of experience understanding it. Just not enough confidence to speak it.

    Your English is great! Thank you for sharing, I am just about to start sewing for the first time as well. It’s so cool to see how many outfits you were able to complete. So far it’s taken me three evenings just to prep the fabric and cut the pattern. I haven’t even turned my machine on. I’m taking it nice and slow.

    • @angelicavis
      @angelicavis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! & Well done! My biggest hurdle when I started sewing was that I had to finish the garment in 1 day. That turned out to be very stressful and not fun at all, so after a few garments I finally learned to take it slow, much better. Good luck!

    Girl je bent echt grappig, doordat je het in het Engels doet en een klein beetje ongemakkelijk bent is het juist heel herkenbaar en menselijk. I love it:) En wat heb je veel gemaakt in je eerste jaar! Heel dapper dat je gewoon dingen maakt om uit te proberen en ook achteraf kan toegeven dat het wel of niet gelukt is. Angelica! You are not a beginner, you really made everything so beautiful ! Keep doing it if you love it :) I am also a „beginner” but most important is that you can make everything you want, in any fabric:) it’s a dreamy possibility :) greetings from Poland :) you have a print taste so similar to mine :)

    I am still a beginner after sewing from time to time for 40+ years if you include doll clothing I made as a child out of scraps using running stitches by hand. You've already made nearly as many wearable garments as I have. Thanks for sharing!

      Thank you! And wow doll clothing, I used to knit blankets for my dolls. Childhood memory unlocked!

    Goor job with your first makes. Looks much better than my first makes many years ago. I’m absolutely. In love with Hetty. My first serious sewing machine in the US was a Husqvarna Viking. I’ve had several since then. I don’t imagine any of them were as reliable as your sweet little Hetty. She reminds me of a frog with her green color. ☺
    By the way, some people who struggle with buttonholes use substantial sew on snaps to close the garment and sew the buttons on the outside for decoration. Always looks great when I see it done. Woks specially with very thick fabrics that don’t take a buttonhole very well.

    Weird comment but I enjoyed that there was no music during the video. Music can be distracting when people are talking

      Not weird at all, I can totally relate! Specially when the music is a little too loud... thanks for the feedback :)
