What? Aiyuk is not on the books for about 20 million dollars, he's not on the franchise tag. He's under contract. How does an "NFL Insider" get that basic info wrong?
Thank you. He's on his fifth year option atm, 14 million under contract, has no leverage or options unless they want to do a trade.
He simply misquoted the 5th year option (20 million would be for a top 10 pick, Aiyuk was drafted 25th and is 14 mil). Everything else he said is correct because it's a fully guaranteed 1 year deal. Chill out.

Its crazy that the 49ers aren't willing to pay market value for the player who is one of the main reasons the 49ers won the NFC Championship game and made it to the SB. NFL is a tough and crazy business

It’s not that crazy actually. They are a run first team and probably think they can make up for Aiyuk in the aggregate at WR. He is a good player and will get paid somewhere even if it isn’t the 49ers.

Why did they pay CMC more money this year instead of Aiyuk? They could've done that next year.
You drafted 2 WR's for a reason. Take the draft compensation from a BA trade. San Fran is going to need some affordable early round talent to keep this going. Purdy backs up the truck next year.
Make Aiyuk play next season under contract and then franchise tag him..
He will play this season, but after that he wants a new contract. Plus Purdy is gonna get a big extension
It's not 'all of a sudden' & the Aiyuk deal wasn't going to be done 6 months ago. Jefferson, Aiyuk and Lamb were waiting for the others to get paid first. The Vikings threw silly money at JJ.
If the 49ers offer >$28.25 I think he'd sign (yeah, more than Waddle). Otherwise he'll play this year on his rookie contract for $14 and we'll see what cap shenanigans John Lynch can pull off next off-season.
People talk about the cowboys not playing players, but all the teams have to pay there players and the bill will come do and how does that change the nfl landscape and free agency
I think people are viewing that as odd because the Cowboys have historically under Jones been willing to open the checkbook and spend whatever money, even if there's absolutely no precedent or need to do so. So to see them stay pat seems odd from that outsider perspective.

9ers fan - I do not like Brandon Aiyuk. Don't like him, don't like any of this. Not good for the team, not good for anyone except the Chiefs, who would love to face a slightly worse 9ers team and win another SB.
