Eloise Eighteen Thank you so much! How embarrassing. I had just watched their videos together with This Gathered Nest's with her sister Ashley and I am really bad at names. I should have looked it up😅
More stuff about breastfeeding: even medical professionals can struggle to breastfeed. My mum was a neonatal nurse when I was born and she is now a health visitor. She couldn't breastfeed me because I couldn't latch on. I ended up in hospital because I couldn't feed. Yes, breast is best. But formula and bottle works just as well if you're unable to for whatever reason.
Another myth is that your breast milk will adapt to lactose intolerance in your baby. Sorry but mammal milk has lactose, no matter what. Even if mom avoids lactose in her diet, she will still produce it. It still baffles me that people think it’s possible to change. (Imagine thinking you could eliminate fructose in fruit)!
Mary Hines I think it depends on exactly how the baby is allergic to milk, my family has a milk allergy but my children can safely handle breastmilk as long as I keep dairy out of my diet. (Edited because I had to set the phone down and the kiddos decided enter needed to be hit)
Nalani Hamby no. Intolerance is different than an allergy. Both do vary in severity. Lactose intolerance means that a person lacks the enzyme, lactase, and cannot process lactose. The lactose hits the walls of the intestines causing severe pain and cramping.(almost as bad as the second stage of labor in my experience). It can also lead to diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. An allergy is an auto-immune response. I’m not familiar with it’s exact symptoms. I think that it’s cruel to continue to try to feed your child a food they cannot digest. There have been cases of mothers doing just that at the pressure of doctors, lactation consultants, nurses, and the online community only to have their babies die from malnourishment because (not surprisingly), their milk didn’t adapt.
@@livelongandprospermary8796 You seem to know a lot about lactose intolerance, and I definitely learned something new (that people think they can eliminate lactose from their breast milk), so I have a question. If you know the answer. Is lactose intolerance something someone can "grow out of"? My brother's girlfriend was lactose intolerant when we first met her as a teenager and when they reconnected in their early 20s. She avoided anything milk-based. Yet, more recently, I have seen her eating pizza, ice cream, etc, and, when I asked her about it, she said that she is not lactose intolerant anymore. Is that possible?
My grandmother was paralyzed by polio as a child, and raised 4 children while her husband worked away in the Navy. I'm sure it wasn't easy, but she has 4 adult children who all had children, and she even has 2 great grandchildren.
Disabled parents adapt and so did the kids. My friend was blind & her husband was in a wheelchair. They had a child. They would go out w/the baby on his lap and her w/the guide dog--it caused quite the spectacle, unfortunately. But he grew up and knew which limitations each parent had. She put a screen door on the kitchen to keep him out so he'd be safe--but she could hear him cry right outside. They lived in NYC. She had a leash for him (and one for the dog, of course). She got a lot of weird comments. But they had to do what worked.
Wheelsnoheels exactly! And even as a mom who developed rheumatoid arthritis after my son was born, and in my opinion, raising him while having a chronic illness has made him such a compassionate young man (he is 16 now). This video is so inspirational and packed full of wonderful advice! One bit of advice I like to share with new parents...when you are going out with your little one in the car, keep extra diapers stashed in your vehicle along with spare shirts for YOU. Cannot tell you how many times this came in handy when mom brain kicked in and I had forgotten to add more diapers to the baby bag, or when there was a major blow out (from either end!) and I was a mess, too.
Wow! My parents aren't disabled. BUT I remember way back when my father was holding my baby sister in the back seat of the car. Mom was driving, I was in front. Well, my sister barfed like all over him--it was a big mess! We pulled into a public park and I distinctly remember him taking off his shirt and wringing it out in the water fountain while all these little kids were waiting to use the fountain! It was actually pretty funny. My sister was always barfing...my mother said I didn't barf much. Maybe because I was breast fed and my sister wasn't.
My best friend grew up with deaf parents... it wasn't different for her personally because she didn't know any other way. Everyone parents differently. Kids need love, support, and the basic needs. If those things can be provided then as far as I'm concerned people can parent in their own style.
I’m going through a miscarriage at the moment after IVF. I’ve just found your channel and it has been great to have something to watch the keep my mind off it. Thank you
Charlotte Louise oh no i am so so sorry. You should check out Ellie and Jared’s channel. They are holding a IVF grant. They have helped 7 people last year.
I had epilepsy and my neurologist used to joke with me that I was an exiting patient cuz I wasn’t “an old person who had a stroke”. He was a jokester and it definitely made me smile
Ever since I got ill, this has been a HUGE worry for me. You actually breaking everything down and saying practical steps made me think that ONE DAY this might happen. Thank you so much! I have just found your channel and am so happy I have. TH-cam has become such an amazing community for me. I don’t know how you felt before you started your channel, but before I started mine I felt super alone. Off to explore your other videos! ❤️
thanks hun. Well I wish I had youtube when i was growing up in my early teens, This is why I feel its important to get as much information that i would have liked when youtube wasn't around.
I can imagine Jessica being a great mother. I'm already picturing her with her cute little baby on her lap. And really, who cares if she will have to use her wheelchair more because the baby will take up all her energy? She is so right. You should find what works best for you and if everyone stays healthy, then that's exactly fine.
My moms bump was tiny with all 4 of us and the doctors always freak out and think something is wrong but we’re all fine 😂 in certain clothes you can’t even tell she was pregnant 🤰 😂
This is very good to hear. I have some prescription meds I have to go off of whenever I have my kids (probably 5 years away, but still!) and it is just great to hear from other women navigating pregnancy/birth and their own health.
As a non-disabled mother of 3, I think that all doctors, nurses and aides for pregnancy and birth are particularly lovely. Babies are so miraculous that I think their every day work life is really more satisfying and it reflects in their manner.
head over to Jessicas channel, and check out our video on friendships!! :) th-cam.com/video/XOQPPq2iL0M/w-d-xo.html and please feel free to brows the rest of my channel. :) I have also just made a new video on parenting toddlers from a wheelchair th-cam.com/video/KFDjM3HOijQ/w-d-xo.html If you enjoy my content and would like to buy me a drink to show your support ko-fi.com/wheelsnoheels click here.
i love you a lot your such an inspiration to people i don't have a disability you can see i have ptsd severe from severe sexual abuse so i am i normal that i still feel kindred spirit to you hopefully we can have a friendship..
I know there’s way worse issues I could have but type one diabetic since 2004. I was first told no baby. Ever. Then told yes but would need to prepare for years before hand. Then one year. Then BAM I HAD THE BEST SURPRISE MOTHERS DAY 2016. A beautiful little girl was soon to be mine due Christmas Day. Lots of complications both diabetic related and not. Early on I was told she was in 10% of size and was very tiny. A month before due my preeclampsia was severe and One c section under general unfortunately later, I was given Alivia. My hero was born. My womb warrior was given to me. We’ve faced our challenges and since I left the father, life’s been beautiful yet challenging. I still say I’d do it all again just for her. Even if I adopted or had her like I did, any child is a blessing. And despite physical challenges I encourage chasing that dream. I wouldn’t recommend pregnancy if it’s a hazard to your health though bc that’s a hazard for that child. However. All we can is our best and every child needs a mother and love
Thank you for sharing Ally. This is very close to home as my sister (in my vlogs and a video with her to come) is type one diabetic too. She has been since about 9yr old. I know how hard it can be sometimes, and I know all about the complications. She gave birth (by c-section) in March to a baby girl!!!! all went well, she couldn't breast feed, but she is healthy. Motherhood is hard, and puts a huge strain on relationships. All the best for 2018. xxx
I just found your channel, because I always knew, that I want to have a baby one day, and my husband is so lovely with kids, it’s really sweet... But since I’m in a wheelchair( 9 years ago) everybody around me, is like, it’s so sad that you will never be able to have your own kids... I never believed that, and luckily I met some mums in wheelchair, who are doing amazing, that made me so happy. And your video was really helpful for me. And as you did, I always imagined myself having the baby in a sling and rolling around😀. Did your baby sleep in a normal crip? Because I’ve seen a video about a mum in a wheelchair and she had a special crip, where you could open up the sides, and drive under it, so it’s easier to get your baby in and out. Thanks so much and I will watch more of your videos after this👍🏼 Katy
Im glad the video helped. I had her in bed with me, which made life easier. when she got older i had a cot where the sides came right down, so i was able to get her out. I have some videos on parenting toddlers, and I have one coming up about how i care for her when she is ill (like a bug or a cold.) You must do what your heart tells you to do, I always say, where theres a will theres a way. and we adapt. Im sure there are lots of things that you think, wow i can't believe I did that. e.g. i did a sky dive!!! good luck xxx
You can adapt bouncers to put on the front of chairs (for moving around inside), you can get adapted buggies for newborn up to toddler that go on the front of wheelchairs, slings etc. My mum did these in the 90s (not the adapted buggy back then!) with us and it worked out. It is totally doable :D (one way or another!)
ah yes i have seen some of these things. I did look into in, but they were ver expensive as they are so niche. (well they were back 9 years ago lol) xx
Yeh, ours were total hack jobs that my dad made! I think things are getting cheaper as more disabled people have kids and also as more disabled people use wheelchairs as damage prevention rather than paralysis. Equally people have buggies that cost more than a 2nd hand car and they are just from mothercare!!!
I'm so glad you said to do what works for you! I've been told by a family member that baby needs to be in their own room at 6 months old. The problem for me is that baby's room will have to be the floor below us and I currently can't stand up safely. So while it might be the 'ideal' situation for most people, unless my PoTS improves really quickly after birth, it just won't work for us. I'm really excited for baby wearing! That's going to be such a lovely experience and will definitely make life easier with a baby and a wheelchair. I think it was the first thing I started looking into when we found out I was pregnant! Thank you both for this video, and good luck Jessica! Xx
Hi Tania. Thank you for your comment. and congratulations. I know you were planning a baby when we started talking last year :) Yes defo do what works for you. Even if it may be a bit controversial. Im sure your sensible lol. But some people talk to you like your a fool!!! My daughter wasn't well y'day, and my husband had to be up early for work, so he slept on her bottom bunk, and she slept with me. I was able to keep a close eye on here. and my gut feeling was she would have a temperature in the night, and sure enough, she woke me up at 2am with a temp!! I had everything ready to deal with it lol!! and it was nice and easy as none of has had to move. xxx
It's been a long ol' process with coming off my medication and then the stress of PIP delayed things. But we got there! Oh goodness, I'm not looking forward to the ridiculous things members of the public will say when my coat no longer disguises my bump! I'm really lucky that friends and family treat me like they always have, but members of the public are a different story! It really is all about being sensible and working out what's right for your family. There's no point making extra work for ourselves just to fit in with society's ideal of normal. Everyone has their own version of normal anyway, it's just ours includes wheelchairs and a few extra hurdles to work round. I hope your daughter feels lots better soon! Xx
Wanna know a secret? We’ve got four kiddos and one on the way, not a single one of them was in their own room by six months and they are all totally fine! I couldn’t sleep when they were that far away and neither could they. Do what works for you and what makes you guys happy, because you guys are the ones living it 24/7!
Turns out I remembered it wrong and they said 2-3 months! So I'm going to be quoting the NHS guidelines to them next time it comes up. You're so right, it's very much what works for the parents and baby. The way our house is set up, baby is going to have to be on a different floor to us. And with my mobility difficulties it's likely they'll need to be in with us for longer as a result. And that's perfectly fine! Better than hubby having to do all the night time work because I can't physically get to baby and then having to go to work tired! Xx
I once had a tumour on my gums and went to my dentist for it. I had diagnosed it myself, and already knew it was benign (I'm more or less medically trained). But the dentist called in all the other dentists and dental hygienists working that day because "we never see these things!". Luckily, I have a lot of medical curiosity myself so I can understand it, but if I had not already known it was benign, this would have been really bad.
l know Jessica can read lips, but l don’t know how she does it so well! Is there an interpreter out of frame that she’s looking at, or is she actually just that amazing at reading lips?
the only time the "oooh, that interesting" and they get other doctors/med students is when I went in for my surgery and they realised by body temperature hovers inthe low 35's a lot of the time and it freaked them out and thye got multiple thermometers and got different people to try and take my temperature, they initially thought the surgery went wrong I was so cold. nope, just cold blooded.
Thank you so much for the tips💞 My three grown daughters have just announced they will be opening the baby gates. I am expected to help and of course I will😍 Being a new wheelchair user your advice is great! Thank you again for being so wise and relevant and willing to share🌷
when jessica talked about the no reflexes thing i actually groaned outloud, when i was 10 at shriners they did the same thing with my leg reflexes and it was part of the reason i never went back because i was already a shy kidand having a bunch of people mess with my feet and legs and stare at me was just too much.
Gem, I've only just found your channel this month, but I've been following Jessica for a couple of years so I was so excited to see you had done a collaboration!
I wish I found this sooner because I'm a mum other beautiful little girl your tips was very good for changing my baby I got a desk with drawers so I could put all her clothes handy good luck with anything that you wanted to achieve x
Hi Gem, Im really glad you made this video about pregnancy & had your friend Jessica join you as im experience both your sides of life, im wheelchair user, Im mother of 4 & like Jessica, Im a ldeaf lipreader with ASL, this is awesome exposure, Im very strongly planning to make my own vlog, not sure if ill use FB or youtube or instagram, but im considering making my own channel..any tips or ideas? :)
I learnt that early in too ... just do what suits you as otherwise it'll be needlessly stressful. I wish I'd seen this before having my boy 💗 about a week in I had to chuck the 'rules' I had learnt in a book and after that it was so much better. We have instincts and we can do it our own way 💗💗💗🌼🌸🌼
I loved my scheduled inductions. Everyone and their Auntie wanted to warn me all about interventions but I'm like give me the interventions! Ready to feed formula can be served room temperature so if you formula feed that can be a life saver for night feeds. Shake pour into clean bottle and away you go.
yes thats s true about the formula. its so easy to forget everything. But i do remember giving her formula more room temp, so that she could take ready made if we were out. :)
Lol yes! The med student circus. I get it too. If they addressed me like a person I would be happy with it. The problem is that not a single one even looks at me and smiles, or says hello. I'm not a textbook.
I don’t get the breastmilk/formula debate either! I wanted to nurse mine and so far (knock on wood) I have been able to and am really grateful for that even with the drawbacks of breastfeeding. But that is what worked for ME, I don’t look at anyone else and judge how they’re feeding their baby..because it’s being FED! And I’ve used both homemade baby food and store bought, for me I like using the baby bullet (the regular magic bullet would totally work too!) and either fresh or frozen stuff is easier and less expensive. EXCEPT for when we go out, then a grab some of those awesome squeeze pouches that are shelf stable because (in my opinion) toting a cooler just for babyfood is a stressful pain in the butt. And thanks to older kiddos it is easier to keep stuff in the freezer to blend up real quick than it is to keep stuff in the fun to climb cabinets where it makes a new and exciting snack 🤦🏻♀️. Again, as long as the baby is being loved and fed enough, I just don’t see why it matters how someone does it.
Sometimes with my illness I worry about passing it on to a child :/ pregnancy itself would probably be fine (i think?) for me but I don't even know WHY I'm sick so I have no idea if my problems are genetic. I don't have to think about it for 5-10 years but I love the idea of being pregnant and having a baby, but I suppose if i find out it's something I would pass on I could use an egg donor or a donated embryo
That's actually probably a great idea anyway! Maybe I can get some insight about my own conditions too. Thanks 🙂❤️❤️ I will definitely make it happen somehow!
i love you. sometimes we have disabilitys that people cant see i have severe ptsd from getting molested as a child sometimes people give me the hardest time have you ever experinced that.
You are a inspiration. I hope after my accident I can have one more. I just feel I'm supposed too. So I'm gonna try . figure if I try and it doesn't work, at least I tried
yes you should do what feels right, it sounds like you know what you want to do. so go for it. I felt like i was done at 1 though ;) I guess you just know what feels right for you. Good luck. :) You know you will make it work. Also by having one already you kinda know what to expect. (in the way of babies and how to care for them.) xx
Here in America 99% of the time when need to go to hospital no matter what for you are given your own room or a make shift with only a curtain between you and another patient if you are the e.r.
I think that's because pretty much all of American health care is private. While most of British healthcare is public (there is the option to go private though) so private rooms will generally be triaged for whoever requires it the most. If you went with a private hospital in the UK I think you'd be more likely the get a private room.
What a double act! When you said the C word I thought you were going to say cuddle. "For heaven sake just give me a Cuddle". But I suppose Caesarean kind of, sort of makes sense ish. Delightfully informative video; looking forward to future instalments.
I don't have a disability and don't want kids (not that I don't like kids just don't want to be a parent) yet I find this video very interesting. Thank you!
Hi! I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems like there are double captions overlapping for the entirety of the video and I just wanted to let you know as it gets a bit confusing
I had a moment where they were super excited to use medical equipment on me. I was at the cardiac lab to get a tilt table test and they were like “omg we get to use the tilt table! We only get to use it once every few months and it’s usually on older women.” I was like 😯 It ended up fine but it was interesting that they were so excited. It’s how I got diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) though so it’s worth it.
hi yall, quick note they have recently made a wheelchair pram thing. i not sure how it work but i think you all should know about it as it is revolutionary.
My mum tried loads of the 'best' tips for childraising (homemade food for me and reusable nappies for my younger sister). My food stuck as it was easy to make meals for the family and season afterwards (I.e. fish pie, roast dinner) but the nappies did not as she had a baby and an affectionate toddler by that point. There is no right or wrong option in each debate
the Med school students really hit me, every time I go to one of my Specialist ( Frist time or the 20th time ) I always get the Med students ( and have know chooses ) Because I have "Ones in a Career case" or a "Challenging Cases" or "I am Abnormal" I hate it and It's been like that since I was bone. for the most part, when it comes to Medical stuff I am 1%
LOVE THIS. WHEN I REACHED THE AGE OF PUBERTY THE SUBJECT OF SEX AND BABIES WAS NEVER AN OPEN TOPIC, IT WAS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED. I WAS TOLD MY KIDNEY'S WOULD GIVE UP, MY HEART AND LUNGS WOULD SPIT THE DUMMY, MY ENTIRE SKELETAL SYSTEM WOULD BECAME COMPROMISED AND THE PAIN IS LIKELY TO BE HORRENDOUS. FAST FORWARD 20 PLUS YEARS AND IRONICALLY ENOUGH, I WASN'T INTERESTED ENOUGH TO PURSUE IT. I ENTERED MY MID 30'S AND THERE HE WAS, THE MAN DESTINED TO ANNOY ME FOREVER AND AT 35 I HAD MY SON AND WE THOUGHT THAT WAS MOTHERHOOD DONE AND DUSTED. NOPE, WE WERE WRONG, AT 43 ALONG CAME MY SPIT FIRE OF A DAUGHTER. HEALTH AND DISABILITY WISE, ALMOST ALL THE PREDICTIONS CAME TO FRUITION AND TO THAT I SAY " AND WHAT ? ". I DID IT. I SURVIVED IT. I HAVE NO DAMN REGRETS. P.S I HAVE SPINA BIIDA AND WHEELCHAIR BOUND.
I have Toxioplasmosis so it means Im blind in my right eye and have pretty much like cocoons behind my eye and I can 100 sympathize when Jessica was talking about when doctors call in the other doctors to be like look she has no reflexes, that's my life when I go to my doctor he will always get a med student to be like look n her eye and tell me whats wrong . I think its also just as my case is a bit more rare and in our area I might be the only one who this has effect me this way so they might never see something like that in my case
I know that it is annoying for medical professionals to get excited to show students. I have had it happen to me. My PCP, are a Resident's and when it is time to change to a new resident they fight over me. My case is so extensive and rare they are eager to learn about my needs and to better explain. When I was pregnant I had 4 Kidney stones between when I started regular prenatal vitamins at 8 weeks, until my 16th week. I had tons of resident come into to hear the heartbeat. I'm a nurse, so I understand that a provider becomes exited. It may be something they haven't seen before or all sorts of other reasons. I have a Gastric stimulation,(bypass) in my abdomen. I always offer for a new doctor or student to feel it. It isn't something that I mind doing. But you do have the right, in the US, to refuse to allow students in your care.
I love going to my gynaecology doctor who always has some student training going on most of the time with young man. Last time a wonderful man from Dubai, so my uterus is upside down (I'm a medical wonder box 🤣🤣) the guy absolutely lost it I mentioned were he is from because he tried absolutely stunt to tell me and my doctor that it was wrong It it shouldn't be like that in a English German and Arabic mix like he invented sliced bread 🤣🤣🤣 I was still on the chair with a ultrasonic thing still in me🙃😅 and he was so happy to see something like that and I think he wanted to make a picture with of it. Good times. Hope you doing great
hello my Name it's Erly i have a question i was wondering i am in a wheelchair i have special needs my quesion it's could people like us with special needs could have children's could people like us have kids it my question ?
I'm going to make a video on this. also if your interested in my parenting videos, there is a new video about parenting toddlers form a chair, with some useful tips and tricks. its here th-cam.com/video/KFDjM3HOijQ/w-d-xo.html xx
@@Wheelsnoheels thanks, I did ask to join but they haven't accepted me, I think because I'm in a wheelchair not because of a spinal injury and the group says specifically for that. Thank you though x
I've always wanted to be a mother someday but I worry that it's selfish to do that with my disability. I have a chronic pain condition (as well as other things) that has resulted in chronic fatigue, so I feel like it wouldn't be fair to my child to not be there for them as often as I would wish. Not to be able to care for them half the day or when they're older, pick them up when they've hurt themselves. I know that there are many disabled parents out there and I would never judge others' decisions, I just don't know how I would do it without beating myself up for the rest of my life. Is there anyone else who feels this way, or am I just being stupid?
2:17 May the chosen one continue to show himself worthy of the honor. 4:02 That was ever such a steady tone. 6:07 "ALOT?" I see that so often, but aren't they actually 2 words? (a lot) 9:07 Your...who's? 11:15 I take it you mean "kettle." 11:47 I couldn't agree more. 12:24 Please, Gem, enunciate.
I love both of you ❤. I'm in a wheelchair and want to have children. I'm also in a lesbian relationship. :) Nice greetings from Germany. PS i don't care if the society is ready for me having a baby as long as I am.
This is hard to answer, for me the risks were out weighed by having my own child. I wanted to try for my own baby, I didn't feel that adoption was the right thing for me. I think if the risks were too high, and i wanted a child badly enough, this is something I could have looked into.
As a person with a documented disability in order to get the care I need.... I'm not allowed to adopt. Pretty shitty, right? Many other ways cost ridiculous amounts of money. If my child is born with my issues, guess what? I know what kind of help to get them, and to do it before it gets to a point mine has. Disabilities aren't a death sentence. Everyone in life deals with something...
I didn't know Jessica wanted to get pregnant. I wish her good luck and hope she and Claudia are going to find the way right for them!
Her wife is Claudia

“Fortunately I am a lesbian, so there are two wombs in my marriage!” What a great line! So many practical advantages!
hahaha yeah Jessica appreciated that lol
Thanks for having Jessica on. I love her vintage style. She is a positive role model .

Thank you
awwww good vibes to you charlotte. xxx
Oh no I’m sorry, life can be so unfair sometimes!
My cousin in deaf and she married a deaf man and they have 5 kids, they've told me that having kids with a disability is hard but it is worth it :)
You should look at Jessica's channel as well!
so cute
I can imagine Jessica being a great mother. I'm already picturing her with her cute little baby on her lap. And really, who cares if she will have to use her wheelchair more because the baby will take up all her energy? She is so right. You should find what works best for you and if everyone stays healthy, then that's exactly fine.
My moms bump was tiny with all 4 of us and the doctors always freak out and think something is wrong but we’re all fine 😂 in certain clothes you can’t even tell she was pregnant 🤰 😂
hahah yeah that was the same with me. Especially when you are sat down, its hard to tell. I think mother nature was being kind to me. :)
This is very good to hear. I have some prescription meds I have to go off of whenever I have my kids (probably 5 years away, but still!) and it is just great to hear from other women navigating pregnancy/birth and their own health.
ah thank you. Do let me know if you have any questions. :)
You two are marvelous together, I hope you make more videos as a pair! And of course inspiring words on how to do life! ♥
tank you Bill. we had such fun filming. :)
Womb for two... *dying* xD
As a non-disabled mother of 3, I think that all doctors, nurses and aides for pregnancy and birth are particularly lovely. Babies are so miraculous that I think their every day work life is really more satisfying and it reflects in their manner.
I didn’t know Jessica wanted babies 😂 I really want to see her with her cute belly tho oh my god aww❤️
I'm sensing some "smile and nod" from Jessica in the beginning of this one!
head over to Jessicas channel, and check out our video on friendships!! :) th-cam.com/video/XOQPPq2iL0M/w-d-xo.html and please feel free to brows the rest of my channel. :)
I have also just made a new video on parenting toddlers from a wheelchair

i love you a lot your such an inspiration to people i don't have a disability you can see i have ptsd severe from severe sexual abuse so i am i normal that i still feel kindred spirit to you hopefully we can have a friendship..
I have some videos on parenting toddlers, and I have one coming up about how i care for her when she is ill (like a bug or a cold.)
You must do what your heart tells you to do, I always say, where theres a will theres a way. and we adapt.
I know you were planning a baby when we started talking last year :)
Yes defo do what works for you.
Xx
9:34 Whenever I hear that expression I think of a programme about Scottish sheep farmers who said "Where there's a willy there's a way"!
Is there an interpreter out of frame that she’s looking at, or is she actually just that amazing at reading lips?
she is just amazing ;)
the only time the "oooh, that interesting" and they get other doctors/med students is when I went in for my surgery and they realised by body temperature hovers inthe low 35's a lot of the time and it freaked them out and thye got multiple thermometers and got different people to try and take my temperature, they initially thought the surgery went wrong I was so cold. nope, just cold blooded.
Great .... you two are so good together ! Practical tips and laughs and what chemistry between you ! Let’s have more girls ...please
ahh thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. xxx
Jessica is broody... So cute
Ah wow I never knew you guys did a collab! Amazing topic girlies xxx
Ah thank you. We have another one that we did last year too. I think it’s in my disability and working playlist. X
What an exciting video to come back to just weeks away from Jessica's child's birth.
"but what do I do with it" my life
Lol, I had the same reaction when I had my daughter...she's 13 now and I still ask that question every so often! :) :'D
I wish I found this sooner because I'm a mum other beautiful little girl your tips was very good for changing my baby I got a desk with drawers so I could put all her clothes handy good luck with anything that you wanted to achieve x
as a med student, i apologise for being one of those people who'd be staring at your lack of reflexes!
SUCH A WEIRD COMMENT.
We have instincts and we can do it our own way 💗💗💗🌼🌸🌼
defiantly. thank you for sharing. :)
you two are wonderful together!
Gem you look like Emma Thompson, so pretty :)
Again, as long as the baby is being loved and fed enough, I just don’t see why it matters how someone does it.
exactly :)
Sometimes with my illness I worry about passing it on to a child :/ pregnancy itself would probably be fine (i think?) for me but I don't even know WHY I'm sick so I have no idea if my problems are genetic. I don't have to think about it for 5-10 years but I love the idea of being pregnant and having a baby, but I suppose if i find out it's something I would pass on I could use an egg donor or a donated embryo
yeah, and get genetic testing maybe? where there is a will there is a way ;) xx
Delightfully informative video; looking forward to future instalments.
hahaha thank you for stopping by. :)
Didn't she (Jessica) say that she couldn't have a child? (I recall in a video where she is laying down on a floor, she said that)
Blair Scriven she said she can but she She would risk paralyzing herself. Her wife could easily have the child without that risk or they could adopt.
You two are wonderful and so inspiring ❤️
thank you :)
I don't have a disability and don't want kids (not that I don't like kids just don't want to be a parent) yet I find this video very interesting. Thank you!
My 2 fave youtubers!!!!
Killing it !!!
thanks hun. was fun to film. :)
Do you use a float when swimming
Jessica sounds and looks like she's from Call The Midwife!
5 seconds in and I REALLY want that green top! XD
was so pretty. all the details are on Jessica's Instagram :) xx
i enjoyed the information!~
I’m only 22 and not looking to get married and/or having children for a few years. Anyway, better to learn now than later 😁
hi yall, quick note they have recently made a wheelchair pram thing. i not sure how it work but i think you all should know about it as it is revolutionary.
I love the sentence at 12:12
I have paralysis from coarctation also. I had my baby totally fast and natural lol
How did you manage going out with baby ? Or did you just go out with helps :)
And did you struggle with like picking her up etx
Awe Jess has a baby now
I know that it is annoying for medical professionals to get excited to show students.
I had a csection and I coslept for that reason. For the first 2 months then I put him in the Moses basket beside me.
I was advised against it. so struggled for the first month, and then was like!!! ugh. ok this has to change. :)
Wheelsnoheels I know right. When I would go to my check ups I told the nurse I had him in his own bed so they didn't get on my case.
Good times.
Hope you doing great
I was so surprised that she was deaf
she is amazing!!! You would never know!!! :)
hello my Name it's Erly i have a question i was wondering i am in a wheelchair i have special needs my quesion it's could people like us with special needs could have children's could people like us have kids it my question ?
how do you get in and out of the car
I'm going to make a video on this. also if your interested in my parenting videos, there is a new video about parenting toddlers form a chair, with some useful tips and tricks. its here th-cam.com/video/KFDjM3HOijQ/w-d-xo.html xx
Can someone direct me to the wheel mummy group? I had two children before I became wheelchair bound and am hoping to have another 😊
hey there, search "wheel mommies" on facebook and it should come up. Ashly runs the group. say gem from wheelsnoheels sent you. :)
@@Wheelsnoheels thanks, I did ask to join but they haven't accepted me, I think because I'm in a wheelchair not because of a spinal injury and the group says specifically for that. Thank you though x
I am quadriplegic and i had 2 pregnancies.

4:02 That was ever such a steady tone.
6:07 "ALOT?" I see that so often, but aren't they actually 2 words? (a lot)
9:07 Your...who's?
11:15 I take it you mean "kettle."
11:47 I couldn't agree more.
12:24 Please, Gem, enunciate.
I love both of you ❤. I'm in a wheelchair and want to have children. I'm also in a lesbian relationship. :) Nice greetings from Germany.
PS i don't care if the society is ready for me having a baby as long as I am.
Jessica is gorgeous.
That’s what sign language is for
This might come out very wrong, genuinely can't tell because I'm autistic, but why not just adopt and avoid all the massive health risks?
This is hard to answer, for me the risks were out weighed by having my own child. I wanted to try for my own baby, I didn't feel that adoption was the right thing for me. I think if the risks were too high, and i wanted a child badly enough, this is something I could have looked into.
Wheelsnoheels own biologically or specifically one you carried? Because surrogates would be another option
If you’re deaf you could have those people do you sign language
Do you know there’s a spelling error in your title slide? X
Oh no really? Im Dyslexic so i can't spell to save my life. This is why I youtube and not blog lol ;)
Wheelsnoheels It’s not an awful one, you’ve just accidentally missed the first ‘I’ from ‘Living” x
