The stars were given honorary MBEs - one of Britains most prestigious awards.
It was recognising their role as environmental activists.

Sadly, yours is a common misconception; the Monarch is supported by profits from the Royal Duchy of Lancaster, and even pays taxes on portions of the income; and the Prince of Wales and his family are supported by income from the Royal Duchy of Cornwall.
Less than £2 per year per British taxpayer is spent on the Royal Family's expenses for official duties, far less than Americans spend on our now Imperial Presidentcy.
@@craigetter2415 king also reimburses the tax coffers by means of the Crown Estates; the household costs tax payers next to nothing and a republican head of state would be more expensive even.

You should see how the late Queen reacted to 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic.
This isn’t about their music, it’s to honor their work as environmental activists. I didn’t know they did so much! It’s something the king has always felt strongly about, and he spoke about it quite often as Prince of Wales (as king, he’s required to stay out of anything political).
Edit: it does say this in the captions, but a few people seem to have missed it, so I hope this helps. :)
