Imelda Staunton's full acceptance speech, receiving the Laurence Olivier Award 2016 for Best Actress in a Musical. April 3, 2016 - Royal Opera House, London
@@tiffsaver I'm an American and almost everyone I know has great interest in British awards. They have real talent and are not just egotistical celebs. BTW, why did you post "There is a God....." if you weren't aware of British actors and Imelda especially?
She is right: Stephen Sondheim is the Shakespeare of musical theater, and I daresay the closest to the Old Bard America will ever get. Loved Imelda in "Gypsy", catch it when you can on TV.
TaeWasSpilled It’s Professor Dolores Jane Umbridge, Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor at Hogwarts and Senior Undersecretary at the Ministry for Magic.
seamus1956 when I first saw Gypsy with her in it, I couldn’t separate the two. I was so disgusted when I watched it the first time, but when Roses Turn came on I completely forgot about Professor Umbridge lol
Miss Staunton also created on the British stage the roles of the Baker's Wife in " Into the Woods" and Mrs Lovett in " Sweeny Todd", so she is particularly attached to her work with Sondheim.
Now that's how to make an acceptance speech....pure class
THERE IS A GOD. FINALLY... IMELDA GETS THE RECOGNITION SHE TRULY DESERVES.
What do you mean "finally" 😂 this was Imelda's 4th Olivier win.

She's just fantastic. So glad that she is finally recognized for all that she had done. Love her.
I love how Tracie was like "I might have a chance" then 2 seconds later she said "Nope Imelda's gonna win"

Imelda staunton is Sondheim"s muse in Great Britain!
1:58 IS THAT NARCISSA MALFOY? She certainly looks like her. (I know that Helen McCrory looks differently, that's why I wrote Narcissa Malfoy)
