This is my favorite DE razor by far. The way it performs is outstanding. Blade alignment is perfect. No fiddling needed. I make 2 passes with plate #3, for me that's the sweet spot. I have the gunmetal version, it's beautiful and the chrome finish is without flaws.
I've had the 6C in gunmetal finish for over now and it's good as new. A few days ago I got a 6S. I haven't noticed a difference between the smoothness of the two. On either one the blade alignment and exposure is right on with no fiddling.
Hi I bought a 6c which firstly let me say I absolutely loved. Unfortunately I had issues with the quality of mine it lasted 11 months and that was using it in a rotation with my other razors so I didn’t have 11 months wear out of it. I didn’t want to throw it away so I bought a 2c to get the handle and top cap as the treads had gone and would not tighten up. I definitely hadn’t been over tightening only finger tight as I do with all my razors.
The Merkur Progress has been around since 1955, adjusting is easy by turning the knob setting. Changing plates just seems like a hassle, but a lot of wet shavers love the 6c.

I did read many reviews regarding 6C quality issues regarding it's chrome finish chipping with subsequent usage. At this price range will it be still be worth the investment to go with or shall I go for 6S? Please help. Thank You.
I think with any metal covered with a layer of chrome or something else, there is a risk of it peeling off. You see reports of this happening for pretty much every coated razor out there. I do not think it's a widespread issue with the 6C. Certainly, mine is still like new after a year. You do want to keep it clean and dry. I think the 6c is one of the best values on the market. But I think if you can afford it, the 6S is the best long term option. While the 6c will last years, the 6S will last forever, and you will pass it to your son when you go.

Currently using a cheap but amazing locally manufactured Shavette which I grabbed from my local salon to hone my skill. Recently ordered Parker's SRX Shavette from Amazon IN. Will receive it soon. Safety Razors are a rare case now but they are still part of my shave regime.
