    It is a very good thing, as a 3-year-old boy’s parent and an owner of JRT. It can help your kid and doggie both to get tired, at the same time 🤣

    After we lost our Crocker spaniel we made a decision to start looking for a little dog. When to a local. pet adoption we met we met Morgan 3 month old Jack Chi all the dogs that I've had in my lifetime we never had a male . He really has never been a problem. He loved riding in my husbands truck. going for walks run bring any thing I throw back to me. I lost my husband. 1 yr ago. Mr Morgan has been a blessing . Thank you for helping me understand this little guy. I have had people ask me what a 70 something doing with a Jack chi., keeping very active.

    It's your dog so I don't want to tell you how to raise her, or educate her, Luna is so cute, but I have a jack Russell too, she is seven yo and she started a training to change her exuberant behavior because it is kinda impossible to take her on a peaceful walk and trust me, she doesn't need any shock collar. She is very smart, Jack Russell learn so fast and with the right exercises, treats and consistency in practice, she can get wherever you want. It's just an advice💕

    • @AntonGully
      @AntonGully 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks like a Parsons to me too, but Jack Russells are all shapes and sizes and only recently recognised as a breed in both the UK (2016 I think) and the US (90s) Kennel Clubs, meanwhile there are thousands of Jack Russells out there with bloodlines that go back centuries. I think what we call a Parsons Russell is what the AKC recognises as a Jack Russell, so not confusing at all. Meanwhile my time-share JRT has legs somewhere in between the classic stumpy look and the longer Parsons' look and weighs nearly 30 pounds at 9 months old.

    Wow, your JRT has so much energy. I taught my JRT to walk by me by keeping the leash snug and the dog by my side. Also use a lot of stop and go so he knows to walk by my side.

    I’ve recently started walking a JRT and he doesn’t pull at all, he’s so polite on leash and it’s not because he’s trained. He doesn’t get walked nearly enough so I think he’s just so happy to be outside he behaves so he doesn’t have to go home. Almost feels like his little spirit is broken. Makes me sad to see your little girl so full of life

      12 weeks in a harness pulling so hard that I’m often off balance. Reaches back and chomps down on the leash and won’t go any further unless she has a mind to go further. I often have to pick her up to get her back in the house. Tries to bite the lock off of the harness…

    Oh, Luna’s long legged! My short legged JRT, and 21.5lbs soon to be 8 months on the 4th is now experienced running while I bike. I got that pole that mounts onto the bike with a leash at the end of it from Amazon … she loved it the first time, and now 3rd time she was lying down near the end. She watches me as she runs… I excite her by saying run run run. I hope she’ll be able to go further, in time. As you said JRTs need to burn lots of energy. Thumbs up! Try to do a segment on bicycling.

    If you as a person are a common element in the life of a JRT, you can expect the same behavior when your visible. Your feel/control of lead/voice commands are dynamic during development. You can’t give the keys to someone who has never drove a Corvette to drive responsible.

    I love your videos. My JRT loves her collar and her harness. She loves clothes too. That being said, I don't take her on walks with the harness anymore. The harnesses seem to make her pull more! She is MUCH more polite when walked with her collar. She had YANKED my arm so hard it hurt for days when on a harness. She is a Trucking dog. She wears her harness when going down the road in the passenger seat. Her harness has a chest d-ring where her seat belt snaps on. After extensive training on our part, she acts like a Lady when she's leashed to her collar. My JRT wil be 5 yrs old in the end of December. I've never needed a shock collar for her. I did train her to walk, politely, with a choke collar. It only took about 3 days for her to get that pulling was uncomfortable. Her current collar is like your harness as it has the lock on it. I learned the hard way that those plastic connectors wear out and WILL open. Thankfully it happened AFTER she learned recall. she loves her regular collar so much, that when it opened, she FROZE in place and looked at us like: "HEY MOMMY! PUT THAT BACK ON ME!!!"
    I admit my JRT is a little odd... She doesn't do ALL the "bad" JRT things... Just some of them, and she does LOVE our cats, and they love her. I have 2 JRTs, one purebred, one is half Poodle. My neighbor has the litter-mate to the half poodle, and a JRT/ Boston mix. We have play dates every weekend that the weather allows. We have outside fences and throw all 4 dogs in together to play. They are thankfully exhausted at the end of the day!!!!

    My JRT 4 months old dragged me down a slippery hill until I slipped and fell and broke my wrist. After getting a cast, she pushed me from behind trying to bite my ankles and I slipped on hardwood floors, fell, skinned up my leg and knee, and hit the floor so hard, the bones shifted in my wrist and I ended up having to have it surgically repaired two days later. Surrendered to Vet…

    My female JRT fell from the sky and wiped away my tears after my little friend of 17 years died. She resembles your female JRT except for her tail which she still has. She arrived fully trained and obedient to a fault, we have no need for leads her pink Cubic Zirconia studded collar is for cosmetic purposes only, she's such a pretty girl. She's a great bird hunter and actually catches them but will release the birds on command which makes for some very confused birds. They are staring death in the eye only to be released.

    I so agree with you a harness especially with the Jack Russell. You need one especially when I lack a little bit of balance at times when she pulls me she can really make a mess with me lol. If you know what I'm saying down I go. It's not good. She sees a harness. She runs with her tail between her legs. She hates them no matter what kind I put on her. She hates them. You'd almost think that you punished her or something. I don't know what to do. What's your advice on one of the million things I have to ask you? LOL by the way, I completely love Luna. Mountain dog leashes are warranted against chewing for life have replaced two lol better than the retractable leash - you uses the sound collar - I may have to look into one thx

    That's one area that's been a problem with my Dory, I live in a small town with lots of traffic and people and she gets so excited, yes shes a car chaser so that's a big concern. I ordered a training collar but they didnt send the remote with it so I'm going to have to get one and that seems to be my only option at this point. Also, I'm in a wheelchair and that presents problems of it's own. Right now im using pads and I walk her late at night when there's less traffic and excitement

    Hi! I just subscribed. I think Luna is beautiful. She's so well behaved for a pup of her age. I also have a Jack Russell. I love her to death. She's three years old now. I'm amazed at how smart she is. she picks up things so quickly. As far as training goes, the only problem I've really had with her is she barks at every dog in our neighborhood. She barks at the males, because she wants to play with them. With females, I think she wants to kill them. She gets very aggressive and loud. I think I need more training on how to train her to stop. I usually, tell her "no" and pick her up and carry her inside. I like the way you handle Luna. I hope to learn more by watching your channel. Hope you have a blessed week... :)

    What about when walking by other dogs my scout is good until we see another dog than looses it

    • @opusjosh
      @opusjosh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If a dog was about to walk by I would drop in front of mine and look her right in the eyes, on her level, than give her some kibble while the dog passes.

    • @opusjosh
      @opusjosh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like rapid kibble rewards. Saying yes like 5 times. One for each kibble....saying "yes, yes, look at me, yes,look at me,yes "
      Now she just doesn't pay attention to them.

    Holy crap! It's Gary! He's 8.5 months. He's half blue heeler JRT. This is my life. Yes! He hops, runs all over the place, literally forget it if there's a squirrel, bike, skateboard, another dog - I thought this was the blue heeler in him. He's the only one who doesn't walk normal like all the other dogs 😂😭 It gets worse; I have MS & my legs hurt beyond breathing everyday. I blamed myself for not leash training him or getting a trainer; THIS! Idk how I even stumbled on this video while googling things. I'm the dog sitter; but let's be real, I've been with him everyday (except 2) since he was 8 weeks old. All day, sometimes nights & for weeks on end with me living with just him - I mostly feel like im going to die, but I wouldn't trade the last 8.5 months of my life for anything either. Im early in the video - I can't wait to see how this turns out. Ps. Yup circles 😂 - under bushes, under fences, INTO A VAN with a bunch of roofers. Dude, I'm tired - oh I see yours runs after cars too 🙌🏻 I walk gary 3 times a day 60 minute walks - it's a lot of sniffing tbh & tons of backyard running. I refuse to ever use a choke chain - can't do it. He stopped listening to his commands on walks & I've been really worried about it. Idiot across the street came over & apparently left the gate open...well, gary got out for the first time ever. I've never been more scared in my life & I mean it. After me going into a panic & screaming his commands as loud as I could - he came right back to me. He hasn't left my sight since & the neighbor is now banned. Gary does have a harness (I will look into the one you're recommending). He might grow though - he eats Jimmy dean sausage egg & cheese breakfast sandwiches & Cheetos yesterday. I also use a tough retractable leash. I was thinking about clicker training - screw it, I'm getting one. Yes I know his cues - imagine your dog + a cattle dog & welcome to my hell. He's still worth it & I think the collar thing you're talking about, even the vibrations or sounds would scare the shit out of him. He was terrified of a leaf earlier today. Idk anymore I'm saving your video - thank u again so much ❤️🐶

      Gary will be one soon. I am honestly DYING. We can go to the park, hike the woods, play soccer, it never ends. We can be there for 4 hours - plus 2 almost hour walks.
      He is in a kind of weird fear phase again at 11.5 months; he gets scared of the most random things…..there was a pumpkin on the side of the road & he just started bolting on the leash…I made him come back & it kicked it a little to show him it’s not scary; he then explored it & we moved on. He literally has wind anxiety too. I can’t anymore 😂 he’s still the most loyal, fun, PERFECT nugget. He also ate the entire arm chair….this is a dog who is never alone for more than 30 minutes. He is always engaged. He owns several toy stores too. Let me tell you, Gary at 4 months was the best…Gary now…I call him “shredder.” He even chases the garbage truck & barks his head off. He has a harness. I probably have sucked at training; I just feel like I have done everything with him & he’s kinda buggin out on me at 11 months. He’s so friendly & sweet; but he’s also so fearful & IDK why. He has a herd of kids that all come by after school to see him 😂😂 he’s sooooo perfect & sweet. He doesn’t get scared with the kids, but don’t let him hear a random leaf roll by. I’m starting to feel like i made a mistake somewhere. I’m lost at how to make him more relaxed. He has his TH-cam calming music, but I’m starting to use calming treats & I feel bad about it. He’s just so edgy. Hopefully you have a video somewhere about the nervousness. Thanks for everything ❤❤
      - he’s overcoming bikes - thank you….kids on scooters though 😮 Omg I feel like I’m a monster the way people look at me. I’m like “I’m sorry!!! He’s super sweet! He’s scared of wheels! I’m sorry!” *rude ass looks* ugh

    I recently got my second-JRT pup 14 years later after my adopted JRT past after owning & loving him for 16 wonderful years... (I just couldn’t imagine having a better dog🙃).
    Happily though this year was right time and somehow serendipitously a JRT pup as amazing as my first came our way- and maybe like @Botuxz -or others this might help-as our cutie was also just over 8 weeks old...
    BEST advice- like vid said- is to be consistent! ,)
    Even the very first few days and nights, (whenever asap) like every two-few hours I just took him out to a small grass patch to tinkle etc- get a feel of the grass to sniff around (*not only is it so0o cute to watch- 😆-but It is SO worth the effort!! They are incredibly fast learners and will “understand”-“Time to potty” or whatever is your que ,) ... for us it legit took only a few nights and very early mornings for him to learn to get through night w/ out any accidents and then only a few more weeks w/ out any issues in house. ...And as far as going for walks- I just gradually extended the walk area and times- taking que not to overdo it when he was younger. And YES! 😂JRTs LOVE their walks! We try & go at least 3-5 xs a day-and then after eating dinner, a funny round abt last of zoomies in house-and he’s OUT like a baby curled up on/by/ON (😆)us when we wind down at night- until start of day next morning ☺️... Also! I suggest to try and learn to “bell” train them w/ jingle bell on string at doorknob to hit it w/ his nose when the need to go out - Romeo learned this by 5 months old. Yup! 🙌😁. Again -just by being consistent w/ your commands, communication what you want them to do- {that is *PROVE TO YOU HOW MUCH THEY LOVE YOU by making you happy...😏”}.They are SO clever, intuitive and loyal. Those that don’t know- will see...! 😉Best of luck to the newbie JRT peeps and continued cool vibes to all other JRT owners out there! 😉 Thank you for doing these great vids- its been so fun to watch, laugh and totally agree with you and Luna! 😉❤️☮️

      I weighed mine about a month ago when he was 8 months old, using the bathroom scales method where I weighed myself (dear God...) then weighed myself again holding him and subtracted the original weight. This would have gone smoother if I didn't have to cope with holding a burly dog that doesn't like being picked up, and having to try to read the scales with my belly getting in the way. He was 26lbs back then and has filled out more since.

    You put on the harness the wrong way. If you notice there is a handle on the other side and that should be at the top not in the chest. In case that there’s other dog that is walking and attack your dog you can carry your dog through that handle easily.

    • @kappy123
      @kappy123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He said he's in Illinois. While I agree with your comment completely, it's still a step up from torturing your dog with a Bears game. I think you are on to something though... It's likely that the dog didn't attain its calmness from quality training techniques, because It's impossible for any animal to show excitement when being walked by a guy in a Chiefs jersey.
