A few years I was living in my friends basement due to being forcibly removed from home. It was the roughest time of my life and I remember listening to this very late at night when my head was full of negative thoughts, it helped me remain calm and would put me to sleep despite the conditions
Hey Marisa - same here:) this music was my heart opener then as is 40 years later... sipping my wine and sending happy 62nd birthday wishes to my brother in law. Listening to this song which has been ours for four decades makes writing easier - enjoy this automne weekend evening:)
how beautiful is the guitar solo in this version, it's so relaxing and at the same time so perfect, it makes me travel and stop thinking about problems for a moment
An underrated piece of English Melancholia from King Crimson. It is up there with Nick Drake's exquisitely wistful "River Man". The essence of loneliness - "I talk to the wind/The wind does not hear." This version is very impressive indeed. I shall request this track for my forthcoming funeral.
I just learned this is a cover ... It does not matter ... It is beautiful ... the song is beautiful ... And I needed it tonight, no matter who is singing it ... Thank you ... I talk to the wind all the time ... sometimes though, she does hear, and she answers me ... That is the beauty of being mad and a poet ... And the writer of this song was both and so also knew that she did ... sometimes ... when she felt like it ... hear .... Oh!!!! Such beautiful guitar play here!!!!!

I've fallen in love with this cover of it; even though I prefer the original, it is such a nice fresh breath from the studio recording :) I thank whoever made this cover with unconditional respect, and send out much love for all the listeners of this peaceful music...

GREAT version of this song. Sort of on the fence about this one or the original. While the mellow guitar is really sweet - I sort of miss the flute on the original.
to me this era of the group was so good, especially with the influence of pete sinfield, and when he left they became a good jazz rock techno group in the 70s, but lost a dimension of mysticality and meaning.
Valeu!
I never thought this was the original. The album version is the original. Hell Giles Giles and Fripp album version is *the original.* But the court of the crimson king version is infinitely superior in every possible way. Especially as a counterpart to 21st century, a hectic cluster fuck of brash 60s prog metal, followed by the most ethereal pillowy song of the century.

Amazing how the first notes have a soothing effect, like a balm for the ears
I Talk to the Wind
Said the straight man to the late man
Where have you been
I've been here and I've been there
And I've been in between
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
I'm on the outside looking inside
What do I see
Much confusion, disillusion
All around me
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
You don't possess me
Don't impress me
Just upset my mind
Can't instruct me or conduct me
Just use up my time
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
Said the straight man to the late man
Where have you been
I've been here and I've been there and
I've been in between
