  • These are easily some of the coolest and most gorgeous elevators I have ever seen! Smith Tower is an office building with an observation deck at the top, which is served by only one single elevator in the bank of 7. These were originally manually controlled OTIS elevators but they have been modernized many times over the years. However, most of the original components survived with each mod, and the cab is pretty much original as well. These are absolutely stunning and this is a great example of how a mod should be done! I took plenty of rides to get my money's worth, and just because these are freakin awesome!

Bummer, when I was here in 2018 they were still manually operated. Amazing mod though

These are amazing! Did they keep any original cars from the fujitec mod when they were partially automatic?

Thanks for this! This is nostalgic for me, I used to frequent the Smith Tower when I was a kid in the early 2000s, back when they were manually operated. You captured a moment that used to make me giddy - being up on the 35th floor and looking down the elevator shaft and watching the car come up each time.

Glad you made it up here. Those things are awesome. Haven’t been there yet but haven’t been there yet. Looks like they did a decent job on the mod and kept lots of the original equipment and put it on display. Epic!

That chime at the beginning sounds like Fujitec
