    Rev up is a fuel flow problem had one doing that before with the same primer setup the fuel pump was pushing fuel through primer . I replaced the primer setup and it ran fine hope this helps . As always Sir thanks for the ride along . Keep’em coming 👍👍👍👍👍

    I would definitely recommend going to Wath this old outboard and speak to him he is such a great guy

    Hi Mike, I think dirty buzzard is right. Your primer is shooting fuel directly in your carbs. Not familiar with these larger Evinrude motors with the primer. My merc 60 has the primer line to just one carb and it operates electric with the ignition key.

  • @MsJon52
    @MsJon52 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    well, I think your problem is solved, primer continuing to feed carb plus check the plastic timing clip, looking forward to the fix, I am not sure why your frustrated, you fixed it until it's broke, job done, lol, seriously you got this in the bag.

    I agree with Dirty Buzzard, primer is the “prime suspect”, too much fuel. Thx for sharing your not so good moments with us too, it’s encouraging to see the real world tinkering ups and downs

    Hi Mike I agree it could be a bad primer causing that but i also had a 2 stroke 90 mercury that acted exactly like that. I found a broken plastic clip that was supposed to attach the link arm that controlled the timing under the fly wheel . The engine time went to full advance even when the throttles were closed when that link arm disconnected. I was fishing when it happened and i used a plastic tie strap to hold the link arm to the plastic clip to get back home. Hope that helps somebody

      your primer connections to the carbs. I expect it is your connections or the primer itself

    Had a similar problem with my sons boat. It turned out to be the two jets had a lot of junk in them even though you could blow thru them carb cleaner cleaned them out. The other two jets that shoot the raw fuel in could be adding to the problem. We cleaned them out and the motor runs good now. I hope it helps you.

    My initial thoughts when first hearing it run were that it's leaning out maybe sucking in air somewhere it shouldnt. Hearing you rev it then the rpms hanging up or even creeping up strengthened this opinion Lol. I would suspect float level, crank seal, probably inspect reeds for the heck of it. Too rich mixture without the butterflys opening and no vaccuum leaks would cause chugging / bucking / dying in my cases. not familiar with the primer systems on this so not sure if it could introduce air if something wasn't right with it. Hopefully you get this figured out, a 50 hp with a tiller is pretty sweet 😎

  • @shanehendricks9343
    @shanehendricks9343 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I am thinking that the primer is passing gas behind the butterflies. Check the Ted switch to make sure it is sealing.

      Oh doesn't hurt to clean the part the fuel line plugges up to might be getting air in there or be clogged up. Best of luck.

    The kill switch not working would have had me shit my pants!! lol Next time coundlt you cover the carbs to choke it out? nice thinking popping the plug wires off! Id give my first born to find any outboard above 35hp with a tiller! nice find

    My bet is on the power pack. Seen this before. Index your cylinders to the flywheel and check timing. On both cylinders. Check running. If its not the pack it may be the trigger

  • @kbrowne10
    @kbrowne10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think it is sucking through the primer. Try plugging that off and see if it is the same.

    Looks like my motor or very close I think mine in a 82 tiller and I had to use an actuator for the trim up and down because I could not fix the original tilt and lift pump that I can never seem to find on line.

    Quite the conundrum. I won't weigh in with the magic answer 'cause I KNOW you don't wanna send a hat to Canada.😂 Seriously though, excellent vid Micheal, love your stuff. Mustie can help I think, if none of your follwers (some amazing ideas here!) pinpoint the issue.

    Not positive but i believe there's an arm under the flywheel that works in conjunction with the main throttle. Seems like that is sticking and not returning

  • @richardcranium5839
    @richardcranium5839 ปีที่แล้ว

    its definitely getting fuel i shouldnt. pinch off the primer system if that dont help theres something in the carbs wrong. some of those carbs you can put the floats in upside down. get a hand pump and pressure up the needle input to see if they are sealing(carb upside down) could be a bad combination of needle and seat since you had both kits open.

  • @jerrydarr7743

    That primer solinoid is stuck in open, letting the fuel pump push fuel pass into the carbs. Just a guess

    Well I am sure someone has the answer to the rev up problem, I mean I could take off the cowl and look at mine to see if there is any visible difference? how about the inside diameter of your new gas lines vs the old lines? good luck on the fix, maybe it is something real simple.

    It is the dud,a,ma,gig next to the thing,a,ma,gig. It's sticking on the thing,a,ma bob. Next to the whatch,a,ma,call,it. Check it out, you'll see. When you have it running spray either around carbs, and gasket areas to the head, see if it speeds up you have a leak. If not speed ups anywhere it has to be in the carb. One other, check fuel pump, it could have a pressure leak pushing fuel into carbs, not just pumping it. If that dont work, time for a B.F.H.😅

  • @uhoh71
    @uhoh71 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's getting air from somewhere. Yea, I'd check the primer circuit but it may be the crank seals.

  • @jacobswell2533
    @jacobswell2533 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ths only reason for the engine to rev up that high is that it is getting air in. The two places where the air can get in are the carbs or the crancshaft seals. If the carb flaps are not tight or the carb fitting was not tight - this is an easy problem to solve. If the seals are gone - time to ckack the engine case. $$$

    The seloc manual says" never, again never, operate the engine at at speeds above idle with just flush muffs on. The engine will run away from lack of load causing extensive damage." Later on it says to test in a barrel or on the water. Kinda seemed like what it was doing in the video. Might be worth at least a tank test to see.

    I did some research on your issue and the things I was reading were about the vent not being open on a portable fuel, the fuel connector coming from the tank and the fuel lines. Have you checked the fuel pump on the engine? And the primer by throttle cables? Just some food for thought.
    Thanks
    Tim

    Check the timing arm headed under the flywheel. Make sure it is attached on both ends. Then change fuel tanks. Could be electrical but i doubt it.
