The running joke of Gregg thinking of a random addition to the 5 bags of popcorn, then the graphic popping it up immediately will never not make me laugh
This episode has made me finally realize i need to sit down and watch the three big classics of the mafia genre, The Godfather, Goodfellas and Married to the Mob. I can't wait.
When Tim said his first single was called "Empty Bottle", I was kinda confused because I thought that was a strange name for rock song. But when he explained that the "Empty Bottle" was used in this case as a metaphorical device, to represent loneliness and despondency, I started to understand the depth of his brilliance.
Another cool thing is that if you say MT BTL out loud it sort of sounds like Empty Bottle and that is another example of something being similar or not what you expected.
Hollywood must have been trembling in their boots when Gregg took away that popcorn bag for underutilizing Johnny Depp, but then breathed a sigh of relief when he restored it like a magnanimous king. #GreggForKing
I watch an "On Cinema" marathon (watch every episode) every Wednesday morning to prepare and get up-to-speed for the coming episode, even when Tim and Greg aren't producing episodes.
If Tim's bass playing from the last Oscar special is any preview to what we can expect from the upcoming Dekkar EP I think we will be in for quite a treat. I already give it 5 bags of popcorn and 2 bass solos.
even though this is a comedy show and satire of real critics, Gregg gives some really funny criticism on Depp's career here, all the while not breaking character.
Tim needs to grow up and drop the juvenile rock n roll dream. Get your priorities in order! Why is Gregg writing Decker? I thought that was Tim's baby? Too much time spent pretending to be a rock star.
It's not juvenile it's senile. But yes, Tim has a lot maturation to do. His arrogance is what got lil Tom killed and those college kids at that festival, although I don't think those kids were innocent. Youth is not innocence.
I'd like to see Dr. Luther as a guest a few times, it's always nice to mix it up a bit. Because I would love to learn more about movies or other interesting things as well. It would also be nice to have a reunion of Ayaka and Tim's family with Gregg. Always nice to know how they're doing.
+MitBit Disagree. Not about Our Song, that is a quintessential popcorn movie. No, I disagree about looking forward to anything that buffoon has up his sleeves. #DumpTheBuff
"Snake Eyes" is something you won't be hearing this season! Tim has a royal flush in his hand with #DEKKAR and #DECKER3 coming out! If only Hog Shots would have come to fruition he would have had the trifecta of perfection!
Watching this one again today.....peep at 5:53 where Tim is trying so hard not to break character & LOL while listening to Gregg ramble about different stupid characters Johnny Depp should play rather than "an old businessman" in Black Mass.
that lucky deep was a foreshadow, “our song” (sounds like “arson”) is about a place closing down for asbestos removal (a kind of black mold) and we all know how the vfa/movie theater end up reach?
5:38 to 5:57 gregg the whole thing was amazing, but this captain crunch reboot/cereal + jhonny dep as captain crunch, rabbit, talking cat, some sort of giraffe that comes to life as a person, was killing me... even after 100 listens.
Well technically they already had sort of an unofficial sequel to the Captain Crunch cereal franchise, called Pirates of the Caribbean, which interestingly enough did star Johnny Depp.
+Michael Walsh It's always an amateur hour when Mr. Heidecker is involved. Gregg and his expertise is the only reason to tune in every week. I can't wait to see Gregg take Decker from a minor hit to a blockbuster.
+Akashic8Lamb What Gregg has done are not failures. Not if you're a true film buff, at least. Tim doesn't care about movies. He only cares about himself.
+Cebby Gregg is a professional; he would never compromise the show in that way. Tim tries to derail the show every chance he gets, but Gregg will not be brought down into the muck that that man calls home.
+maverik45 This is what greggheads like to tell themselves. Tim is clearly a visionary who is delving into the future, while Gregg Turdkington is busy being stuck in the last century.
Gregg really nailed it here. Any Film Buff/Depp-Head knows that Johnny Depp's time is arguably the most valuable in Hollywood (aside from perhaps Tim Burton). Give boring (businessman) roles to other actors, and let Johnny take on a film worth his time. Still a 5-bagger for sure, though.
This OC@TC episode might very well be the series peak - literal body blow after body blow of LOL. Dakota (oh like the state) is hands-down Tim's greatest stumble, Whitey Burglar, Gregg's Johnny Depth riffing, Maze Runner reminding Tim of cornfields.....show is straight-up devastating.
I'm glad they are always on in the most important times of the year for movies. The fall and springtime. Most of the good stuff comes out then. You can skip summer and winter times most of the time. Except when its a hobbit movie of course.
Jonny depth as captain crunch would be an instant 5 bagger
+Sam Reid Your comment is an instant 5 bagger because "depth"
+Sam Reid jonny deps would be a perfect fit I agree
+Sam Reid He nailed Diamond Jim. That says it all in my books.
+Sam Reid and two bags of Captain Crunch
+Sam Reid bonjour
The running joke of Gregg thinking of a random addition to the 5 bags of popcorn, then the graphic popping it up immediately will never not make me laugh
Lol the best is "....and one ticket to rehab" and it just pops up 😂
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🪈
5 bags of soda 😂
I'm glad Gregg restored that bag, saved me the effort of digitally correcting his mistake
“If they rebooted the Captain Crunch.. I guess that was never a series of movies but the cereal”
Good review of Black Mass, but I want to hear Gregg go on for another ten minutes about the different kinds of roles that Johnny Depp is suited for.
+FlyingOverTr0ut Rango 2. That's the movie that Depps should have made.
+FlyingOverTr0ut Here's hoping he goes back to the drawing board and recreates the success of recent films like Mortdecai
+midexlain +Slabs All of the classics! Maybe he should style his new Kaptain Krunch after Dekkar!
Maybe Mr. Peanut?
Black mask**
he nails benedict cumberbatch then takes a full 15 seconds struggling with dakota. this show is genious
well he said cumberpatch
He also crushed Whitey Bulger (pronounced Witty Burglar)
Don't explain the joke you clown
"genious" 👍
I wouldn't leave those vhs classics near Tim.
Google: ?T?T THE TRUTH CONTEST ?T?T
+jekanyika fuck you
“Don’t let Eric get near ya!”
You know, I agree. If there's a movie where a giraffe came to life, I think Johnny Depp would totally fit that role. Very insightful as always, Gregg!
+guyshocks is this going to be the title of a DEKKAR song? I hope so
+thatASMRchick I hope DEKKAR tours at some point in the near future. Can you imagine seeing 'Our Values Are Under Attack" live?
Giraffes are alive lol
Rango is one of my favorite movies and depp plays a talking lizard in that
This episode has made me finally realize i need to sit down and watch the three big classics of the mafia genre, The Godfather, Goodfellas and Married to the Mob. I can't wait.
I ended up seeing Goodfellas after Tim suggested it. It's quite good.
If you only see one of those, see Married To The Mob.
“We’re going to do a lucky dip, just like anyone has done”
Easily one of Greggs best lines
It’s just so casual
When Tim said his first single was called "Empty Bottle", I was kinda confused because I thought that was a strange name for rock song. But when he explained that the "Empty Bottle" was used in this case as a metaphorical device, to represent loneliness and despondency, I started to understand the depth of his brilliance.
Yeah, emphasis on STARTED TO!! I just know I’ll never have mastery over language like Tim does
Im always so grateful to Tim for his clarifications
You just know someone said this about one of the real Tim's actual real albums.
And also at the same time it is about empty bottles, so it's layered, there's multiple layers to it.
I can't wait for the Cap'n Crunch reboot
Decker: Port of Call Victorville
I watch an "On Cinema" marathon (watch every episode) every Wednesday morning to prepare and get up-to-speed for the coming episode, even when Tim and Greg aren't producing episodes.
Haven't seen Goodfellas, but will now. Thanks for the tip, Tim.
I prefer Our Song.
What about married to the mob?
Johnny Depp would be perfect as Count Chocula.
Keeping the flame alive by taking his wife to the lego movie at the dollar theater lol
If Tim's bass playing from the last Oscar special is any preview to what we can expect from the upcoming Dekkar EP I think we will be in for quite a treat. I already give it 5 bags of popcorn and 2 bass solos.
I agree with Gregg, Johnny Depp should be in Captain Crunch instead of this new gangster role. Hollywood needs to take note!
The true story of Witty Burglar.
even though this is a comedy show and satire of real critics, Gregg gives some really funny criticism on Depp's career here, all the while not breaking character.
of course he says Benedict Cumberbatch perfectly then immediately trips on Dakota
imagine this is the first episode you watch and out of nowhere he say "I wouldn't take my son Tom Cruise jr to this movie"
probably the best popcorn classic yet
Tim needs to grow up and drop the juvenile rock n roll dream. Get your priorities in order! Why is Gregg writing Decker? I thought that was Tim's baby? Too much time spent pretending to be a rock star.
aboveaxis he doesn't need to pretend to be a rockstar he is one.
Gregg is in for a real treat with Our Song. One of my favorite movies as a young boy, can't wait for the segment next week Gregg! #gregghead
+MitBit Disagree. Not about Our Song, that is a quintessential popcorn movie. No, I disagree about looking forward to anything that buffoon has up his sleeves. #DumpTheBuff
God. The first mention of Empty Bottle. Help us in season X.
Tim repeating the press release as the review word for word lmao
i love how insightful tim’s recap of black mass was, so much so that the summary he was reading was basically the same, a true professional
"Snake Eyes" is something you won't be hearing this season! Tim has a royal flush in his hand with #DEKKAR and #DECKER3 coming out! If only Hog Shots would have come to fruition he would have had the trifecta of perfection!
"Johnny Depp was wasted in this role." Has so many meanings.
Watching this one again today.....peep at 5:53 where Tim is trying so hard not to break character & LOL while listening to Gregg ramble about different stupid characters Johnny Depp should play rather than "an old businessman" in Black Mass.
that lucky deep was a foreshadow, “our song” (sounds like “arson”) is about a place closing down for asbestos removal (a kind of black mold) and we all know how the vfa/movie theater end up
reach?
5:38 to 5:57
gregg the whole thing was amazing, but this captain crunch reboot/cereal + jhonny dep as captain crunch, rabbit, talking cat, some sort of giraffe that comes to life as a person, was killing me... even after 100 listens.
You are right. I also think hollywood would actually consider makong cap m crunch movie
Also tims response was that was an interesting point..whats your rating
Dokata.
I lost it at "a giraffe that came to life...as a person"
"Speaking of Empty Bottle: Black Mass uhhm Doctor - I'm sorry, Directed by Scott Cooper"
Tim saying the synopsis of Black Mass again as if its his own words and knowledge is so funny.
Something tells me the Victorville Film Archive is going to get blown up in the finale.
Close enough, points awarded!
"A giraffe that comes to life as a person."
Doctor ... I’m sorry Director. Genius
Gregg's neverending skewer of Hollywood both as this character and Neil Hamburger makes my soul smile
I love you Gregg Turkington. The world of cinema is better with you in it.
The origin of Dekkar, a piece of rock n roll history.
Jonny Deep is a man among men of actors and has a kind of golden age of cinema look about him like a Marlboro Brando.
Gregg is perpetually a modicum of effort away from the perfect Alice Cooper impersonation.
"Don't waste Johnny Depp's time."
Hungover? Depressed? Too stoned? Simply binge watch this work of art! Perfect!
I love how Tim blows past Benedict Cumberbatch and has so much trouble with Dakota
I'll see you all at dr luther's party
Well technically they already had sort of an unofficial sequel to the Captain Crunch cereal franchise, called Pirates of the Caribbean, which interestingly enough did star Johnny Depp.
"We're going to do a lucky dip, just like anyone has done."
Is this a movie review show or a music variety show? Tim can keep his music out of On Cinema.
+Michael Walsh I was saying to myself, is this show called "On Music at the Music Hall"?
+Michael Walsh It's always an amateur hour when Mr. Heidecker is involved. Gregg and his expertise is the only reason to tune in every week. I can't wait to see Gregg take Decker from a minor hit to a blockbuster.
+maverik45 Gregg deserves so much better than this. I hope he realizes that and goes for Our Cinema after this season.
+Akashic8Lamb What Gregg has done are not failures. Not if you're a true film buff, at least. Tim doesn't care about movies. He only cares about himself.
+Michael Walsh you do realize music and movies go hand in hand right? they both start with the letter m. tim knows what he's doing, fuck off.
I give this episode 5 bags of popcorn and maybe another beer to help me enjoy the next one even more
Exotic location for Decker 3? DECKER IN SPACE! It's gotta be. Just like James Bond in Moonraker, a popcorn classic!
I just now realized the irony of Gregg calling his season of Decker "DVD"
Lost it when Gregg said Johnny Depp should play Captain Crunch or a cat.
Johnny Depp: voted best suited for a Captain Crunch reboot
On that day history was made. The birth of one of the greatest creative rock bands in recent history
It's funny they show an eagle but give a hawk sound effect.
What is that about?
Almost every movie and show does that because bald eagles sound like dinguses but look majestic
I'm predicting an affair between Greg and Ayaka.
+Cebby Ayaka lived in his house for a while and they NEVER betrayed Tim's trust.
I think Dr. Luther sounds really shady, though...
+Cebby That's Tim's wife you jack ass. Have some respect...
I think Tim was about to break @ 6:10
I wish I was multi as multie talented as Tim is. Husband, father, actor, critic, rock star...what next- astronaut?
Who all is going to Dr. Lucas's hummus party?
"Cap'n Crunch" starring Johnny Depp and Thomas Brody Stanksters
hei-DECKER... I JUST GOT IT!!! (no seriously, I just got it when he said it's part of his name, whoa)
Black Mask: the witty burglar starring Dokata Johnson. Clear five bagger - how dare you dock this film one bag Greg.
The beard = LEGENDARY
That psycho keeps touting his film archive, but cassettes are tape, not film. There's an enormous difference.
Never saw Tim working so hard not to laugh when Gregg started talking for his parts
As soon as i see Johnny Depp as a giraffe on the big screen i can die happy
captain crunch reboot would be amazing.
Tim's new beard makes him look like a card carrying member of NAMBLA
yet another reason to be a #gregghead
+odinsmeadhorn You're right he does look like Marlon Brando.
zGunner So I was right all along Marlon Brando was a member of NAMBLA. Myth confirmed.
I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but I think unicorns kick ass.
I guarantee both Tim and Gregg are members of the North American Movie Buffs: Los Angeles Chapter. It'd be a disgrace if they weren't.
Peak Tim hair
just because a gangster says "it's business!" all the time, it doesn't mean he's a businessman, greg
Dakota Johnson? "Dakota" sounds suspiciously like Decker. Another disappointing example of Hollywood stealing IP from two great artists...
I'm glad they are always on in the most important times of the year for movies. The fall and springtime. Most of the good stuff comes out then. You can skip summer and winter times most of the time. Except when its a hobbit movie of course.
Invite to Dr. Luther's? Damn, I only got an invite to Dr. San's.
Anyone else notice Gregg's audio pan to the left at 7:04 or is it just me?
Still eagerly awaiting the Captain Crunch cereal reboot.
Even if gregg hasn't seen this movie he should have categorised it before bringing it in to the studio
Gregg's "Hey Guys" cheers me up every time.
When Gregg says "Hey guys" it makes me feel good inside.
Pray 4 Tim's illiteracy. In other news, excited to hear the upcoming details for The Witty Burglar. Christian Slater as lead? Judge Reinhold?
Hey I know you.
This series literally makes me hungry for popcorn and soda
I give this episode 5 bowls of Cap'n Crunch!
The face Gregg made when Tim referred to Whitey Bulger as Whitey Burgler🤣
I love the briefcases of money in the intro, very Hollywood and very professional
Isn’t it nice these 2 gentlemen button all the way up to the top. What class.
Captain crunch lol. That was so ducking funny
So many levels, I just realized the name Decker is inspired by Heidecker.
Another fantastic episode.
The set for the oscar gotta have a casino look. This is definitely a lucky season.
“Stanksters”
I can't wait for the Cap'n Crunch reboot!
Johnny Depp as Captain Crunch. Amazing...
