I.m a machine embroiderer for over 20 years. My first embroidery machine was a Pfaff and it lasted me many years. It was still working fine when I sold it 3 or 4 years ago, but I had updated my machine to a Brother XV, which I'm about to update again, having ordered the new Aveneer for when it's released in the UK in December/January. I'm interested in your learning. I am going to have to start learning again with my new machine when it arrives. I went for a play on my friend's Icon 2 a couple of weeks ago and made a pair of dangly earrings on it. I enjoyed it, but I am happy with Brothr as a brand and I have extra hoops and other accessories that I will be able to continue to use, so it made sense. Fabric bans don't work for me either. I need to sew more, lol.

I've been a Pfaff girl for decades, but only bought an embroidery capable machine a year ago, and I love it. I love it enough to have bought her a smaller sister so that I can attend an embroidery group. :) I couldn't face moving my big girl on any sort of regular basis.
Honestly, try researching machine embroidery/crafting groups near where you live. I belong to a fabulous group in Leicestershire, but that's maybe a step too far for you. I have learned an enormous amount by attending there. We have a few Pfaff/Husqvarna users in the group, but much is generic, to be honest.

It’s always exciting going down a new rabbit hole, but you will also be adding extra strings to your bow. Up to now, I haven’t been tempted by machine embroidery, but I will watch your journey with interest and see if it might change my mind.

Great to hear you are getting on with your embroidery. I do have a Janome MC9900 that is a sewing and embroidery machine and I use it mostly as a sewing machine because getting the embroidery out is a bit of a pain. It makes beautiful embroidered panels, and has loads of patterns and I can download patterns to it as well. However, I don't really use embroidery that much.

Christine, you’ll probably develop a passion for embroidery in addition to garment sewing. At this time of year, making personalized in the hoop projects is perfect for gifts! Bags, key fobs, lots of mug rugs, gift tags, background quilting…just about anything you can think up! I use lots of Designs by Juju embroidery patterns. They’re digitized really well. 😘

Love the embroidery. I really want to make the toaster sweater, it looks so comfortable. The dress looks great. I'm making blocks for a quilt for a birthday present, when I'm finished, it's the toaster and Tempete blouse from Maison Fauve

What do you do when embroidering. Does the machine do everything? Or do you move the frame around ? Looks like you’re getting hooked!

Your doing a great job of your embroidery. Do you not have a smaller hoop you could use to save on your tear away. I’ve always found the rayon thread to be better than polyester. My machine is old now but I still do a little embroidery from time to time. You’ll be able to make some lovely Christmas embroidery. Have fun with all your sewing , I enjoy your vlog.🧵🪡🇦🇺
