    Ironically many who live in the Pine Barrens would hate a documentary about their heritage. I can easily drive to this part of New Jersey.
    What I've personally found are many folks who could live off the land easily and wish for far less government intervention. Basically they simply wish to be left alone. It's pretty refreshing to go there for a hardy breakfast, and nobody has a cell phone out. You see, they don't mind having little to no Wifi.
    Rarely will you find a place in America where the people are exactly who they proclaim to be. What you see is what you get!
    So liberating
    Zero bullshit people ❗

    I grow up there in the sixties and seventies. I go back when I can to Browns Mills and Whits bogs.
    Picked many blueberries and cranberries there, back in the day. I tell my kids that the blueberries we would were the size of half dollars.
    Compared to the little things we buy today at the store that come from out the country.

      @@davidskessler Definitely. We were based out of Pemberton (i'm sure you know it) for 23 years on Saturday nights. The program which is mainly international now, still calls the Pine Barrens/Leeds Point area it's home. It's a progressive rock program called gagliarchives. Can I email you listening information? Kudos to the work. I would love to plug it and possibly have you as a guest. I am a self taught expert on SJ History. :)

    Did they ever build that pipeline?

    • @davidskessler
      @davidskessler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The one that I was following closely during the filming of this was approved by the Pinelands Commission despite massive protest and a letter by 4 former NJ governors claiming that it did not follow the Pinelands laws and would be harmful. That pipeline never actually happened though. BL England pulled the plug on it for financial reasons. A second pipeline was also approved and construction is nearly complete. The current governor made nominations that would change the makeup of the Pinelands Commission towards protections but those seats have remained unfilled because corrupt officials refuse to take a vote on them.
