The second movie is good, but I don't think as good as the 1st. The 3rd movie is great imho. There is a conspiracy theory out there that actually predates the comics regarding Men in Black (MiB) being a shadowy government agency that is out there to keep the general population from learning about aliens. There have been UFO researchers that report interacting with MiB agents in the past.
😂”There’s a little guy in there!” James, I love your childlike wonder so much. The fact u had no idea who/what the Men In Black are was fabulous. U fully & openly embraced the fun. Great reaction to 1st in an amazing franchise. 🕴️😎
@@ninjavigilante5311 I don't know why so many people give wild wild west a hard time. it was a kids adventure movie. I use to love watching it as a kid. 😂
You really HAVE to see Casablanca!! It’s widely considered to be one of the greatest films ever made. I love watching young people especially react to it-they are initially dismissive of any black and white film being interesting, then they are quickly sucked in and start forming allegiances to various characters.
The pawn shop guy is played by Tony Shaloub who, if I recall, received many accolades and awards for his role in the TV series “Monk”, and was great as the patriarch in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
He began on a hit show in the 80's called Wings. It was a sitcom about 2 brothers who were owners of a small plane in Nantucket. Pretty good comedy. Also Pauly was a great movie about a parrot who could actually talk. Great movie
My cat looked just like this one in the movie, he passed away last night after 22 years, to say I'm devastated is an understatement I'm a complete mess, but your posting this one today is so perfect, and brightened me up a little bit, so thank you for that.
Reggie, the new dad alien trying to run away with the wife and the octo-baby, was also in Galaxy Quest as the alien Dr. Lazarus fan. Casablanca is, IMO, required watching. If you react to it here, I'd appreciate it. If you don't, that's cool too. It'd be a good date movie with your wife. Just a suggestion.
J takes such a beating through the movie and I just love it. Will Smith makes some hilarious reaction noises. Tommy Lee Jones is great too of course, Linda Fiorentino is always gorgeous, and Vincent D'Onofrio's bug/Edgar suit is some amazing physical acting.
I love the little side gags that serve the story continuity, like J spitting out the lemonade at the lady's house, because E'gar had eaten all the sugar, or when it never shows what happened with the tow truck driver, except that the bug is carrying his gun later on.
Trivia for Men in Black: 1. Director Barry Sonnenfeld was previously the cinematographer for "Big" and "Misery." He also directed "The Addams Family" previously seen on James' reviews. 2. Steven Spielberg himself is one of the "aliens" that MIB is watching over (if you recognize Sylvester Stallone as Rocky, Spielberg is the one above him in the top left corner). Among the others on the board were Barry Sonnenfeld himself, his daughter, George Lucas, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, and the infamous politician Newt Gingrich. 3. Nominated for 3 Oscars in 1997: Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, and Best Original Score. It won in the makeup category. Main designer Rick Baker holds the record for most nominations (11) and wins (7) since the makeup category was introduced in 1981. 4. Men in Black's Oscar win ties in interestingly: Titanic tied two records that year, most nominations (14) and most wins (11). Two of the three they lost were in the acting categories. Therefore, Men in Black was the only film to beat out Titanic in a technical category that year. 5. Vincent D'Onofrio (Edgar the Alien) put knee braces on so he couldn't bend his legs, and taped up his ankles, giving him his gait for the film. 6. Just like in "Rain Man" earlier this week, Ray-Ban sunglasses saw a significant increase in sales, that specific brand "Predator 2" going from $1.6 million to $5 million. 7. According to the novelization of the movie, J was right to shoot little Tiffany in the training sequence. It turns out J was right - she was studying quantum physics because she was an alien trying to destroy the world, and the other two are harmless. 8. Linda Fiorentino (Laurel/Agent L) reportedly beat Barry Sonnenfeld in a poker game to get the part. 9. To make sure that no animals were harmed, Will Smith actually crushed mustard packets at the end. 10. The truck driver at the beginning was Jon Gries, who played Uncle Rico in "Napoleon Dynamite." He mentions "fishing in Cuernavaca," and the sign points to Nevada State Road 375. Both are inside jokes - SR 375 is known as the "Extraterrestrial Highway," because it's close to Area 51, and Cuernavaca is a city, where it's rumored that a UFO crashed there in 1951.
The alien who's wife was having a baby on the turnpike was also in Galaxy Quest. He was the one who got shot and Alan Rickman's character had to give him the line he never wanted to repeat, but this time he meant it. By Grabthar's Hammer, you will be avenged
One of the best and most entertaining movie reactions I've seen in a while! This is a great movie for first time reactions because it's so strange and unusual, and funny... A great combination! Loved it!
Casablanca is classic cinema at its finest, managing to blend many genres seamlessly. Its got great writing and dialogue. A pretty beautiful film as well. Its a must watch (but you do what you want, obviously).
Rip Torn (Zed) actually went on a few dates with my grandma. Back when she lived in Texas and they were out there shooting a movie. He was drinking moonshine and went to the bathroom. He was in there for a long time so she went to go check on him and she heard scratching. She asked if he was OK. Inside the bathroom, everything was tiled. The walls and the door we’re all tiled. With him being drunk, he couldn’t find the door, and was scratching around, trying to find where it was.
The Men in Black refers to a conspiracy theory surrounding a group of clandestine agents who show up to suppress and silence witnesses to paranormal events, usually surrounding UFO sightings. Stories about such a group have been around since at least the 1940s, if not earlier. The comic took this concept and turned it into a very dark, cynical comedy, and from that we got this buddy cop movie, which is severely less dark, but still cynical and comedic.
He's in fact in the same makeup and attire, which is funny when you think that the character he's playing in the movie is an alien from a distant Galaxy and J says right away that he doesn't have much of a disguise.
It's not _technically_ Marvel; just owned by them. It was a Malibu Comics original, but Marvel bought them out for a coloring patent. MiB is pretty much the only property of Malibu that's been afforded the chance to make a mainstream splash.
A little fun fact: The guy at the restaurant who "got a break" was a dummy created from moulds of the special effects make up artist, Rick Baker, who did all the make up effects in the MIB movie series. (He also makes a cameo in one of the other MIB movies where he's making new alien arrivals look human... he's the make up artist with the grey ponytail.)
You need to watch "Casablanca" soon! A lot - and I mean a very lot - of movies have little/tiny references to this old masterpiece. And some classic quotes like "Play it, Sam!" or "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in the world, she walks into mine.", "We'll always have Paris" or "Round up the usual suspects". *great_movie

This movie is a fractal based upon the synechdoche: "What is the last thing to go through a bug's mind when it hits a windshield? Its ass." Most obvious with the bug in the opening titles, Mikey, Sneed, the exterminator getting gassed by his own spray nozzle, the ship hitting the truck, J flying back into the winshield of a car upon firing his Noisy Cricket, and of course, K blasting his way out of the bug and Dr. Weaver finishing it off. In my own headcanon, I think the Noisy Cricket is precisely a newbie weapon, still powerful enough to be useful, but the humongous recoil is meant to dissuade the user from firing without thinking on the consequences, as a learning experience not to misuse their highly advanced weaponry.
You know with aliens dressed up as people like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Sylvester Stallone, and Danny DeVito, that would explain a lot of things, haha.
I know you’re gonna love this movie, James! The entire trilogy is escapism at the movies at its finest. I especially love how K loves cheddar on his apple pie. 🥧🧀🍽️ Your shirt is a beautiful reminder of keeping loved ones in our wellness wishes & prayers. Much love to your Mom and to you & yours!💞🎬🤟
Men In Black is a phrase with a very specific meaning that has been in use since the 1950s. It alone should have told you (and every other American who has ever had an awareness of the world around them) what the movie was about.
I remember in 1997 a lot of good movies came out. I was in high school and this was one of my favourite movies - until As Good As It Gets, a terrific comedy drama with Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding came out. After all the good movies that came out in the late 80s and early 90s, I thought things were slowing down, but 1997 roared back with a vengeance. Will Smith was fresh off Independence Day and was a certified movie star after this. I still see Seven Pounds as his best film, but when this came out, I was just the right age and I couldn’t get enough of it.
Buffy was so much more than being "Monster of the Week." You should watch it in it's entirety. It's up there as my favorite show with Twin Peaks, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
There was actually more than one Galaxy Quest person in this movie. Ironically, it's the guy that you say doesn't look like an alien who's wife is pregnant. He was the alien who idolized the doctor and dies in his arms.
YOU HAVE NOT SEEN CASSABLANCA?!?! 🤦♀As a movie reaction channel, you have to watch what many consider to be a best of all time. It's a classic that any serious movie lover has seen. Please react ASAP. 😋
Many famous quotes came from Casablanca. I agree with the posters - one of the all-time classics. I would also throw The Maltese Falcon in there, since Humphrey Bogart is the lead in both films.
Now you need to watch the music video from this movie. Also now you need to The Wild Wild West with Will Smith and the music video from it I only knew Edger from Law and Order Criminal Intent, my favorite of the Law and Order series
Yeah, that's the Guggenheim. The story I heard is that Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to design the Guggenheim. He hated the job so much that he made it a toilet. I could be wrong.
Eh 2's a little marmite... its fine, just not as good for most people as 1... now the 3rd movie (which is rarely reacted too) is equal (and in some ways better) than even 1. Now the 4th movie... THAT cant be totally ignored.
If the bug ate J at the end, it wouldn't do much, he doesn't chew his food so he would have been swallowed, and fell out the stomach since the bug was already in half lol.
The thing that’s interesting with the make up in this movie is well, that not many people pick up on, is look at his skin. It starts to go gray and deteriorate as the movie goes on. Because it’s rotting.
First MIB is iconic. I vaguely remember second one and don't know if i have seen 3rd at all (haven't seen latest one). It doesn't compare. But maybe that's just me :) Hope your mom doing better.
I'd love to see you review "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy". It's a film that sat in development hell for two decades because the conventional wisdom is that you couldn't make a sci-fi comedy - despite the fact that it had already succeeded in radio and television. This film broke down that barrier and the Hitchhiker's got made. :)
Hey, James! I noticed your shirt.... Good for you, man! I have a pink t-shirt that reads: "Real men rock pink". I wear pink in remembrance of my first wife. While it was Ovarian Cancer that took her from me, she was also a Breast Cancer survivor. I have a lot of pink shirts that I'll wear, especially this month (she died in Aug 2006). Men in Black is a fun movie, and kinda relevant these days, if you think about it. With UAPs becoming a more commonly known thing. I think we are being slowly prepped to learn the full truth, because K makes a great point in this movie: "The PERSON is smart. PEOPLE are dumb, panicky animals".
Judging by the big guns in the pic you can bet it's an action movie. 😋 Your gonna love it! I was feeling for the poor Pug too. I haven't seen any of the other MIBs but yeah check them out. (But not before seeing Cassablanca.)
16:34 oh my god, I remember those! That weird tabloid that was half joke, half schizo, and had those bizarre pictures on the front! Oh man I used to love looking through those when I was a kid anytime my mom took me with her to the store.
I was unaware of this but apparently there was a lot of theories around this time that Elvis was an alien which probably explains the hinted idea in the animated movie Lilo and Stitch(it comes on & an alien says he loves this song as if to imply Elvis is an alien still singing in space). This is an interesting movie series, if you're curious there are women in black we just focus on the guys until the 4th one Men in Black International.(I thought it was nice but some say it's a mixed bag) If you're looking for a weird book with interesting stories you should try House of Leaves. Just be careful cause the way text is put on some pages are meant to be weird/mess with you.
the Men in Black movies are so entertaining and fun i personally had fun watching all em i do thing the 1st few are the best but to me theyre all so fun
The second one is okay (not as good as the first). The third one is probably the best one (at least it is my favorite). The fourth is back to okay, but I think is the least liked of the four, but I liked it better than the second (which is still enjoyable). The actor who plays Jeebs (the actor who was also in Galaxy Quest) has been in a lot of films, mostly in supporting roles, but is most well known for being the lead in a TV show called Monk where he plays a detective suffering from OCD and agoraphobia. It's a great show and brought attention to the issues of OCD-though many complained that it made light of condition turning it into a running gag. (It is very serious and devastating to those who suffer from it)
Tony Shalhoub is also amazing (and hilarious) in Marvellous Mrs Maisel, definitely a show worth watching if you're a fan of his (final season was this year). I rewatched all of Monk last year and really enjoyed it again. It definitely felt like they were using his OCD as a joke in the first season (which made it hard to watch sometimes), but they seemed to take it more seriously as the show went on. It was more about him trying to overcome his limitations than about laughing at him, especially as he started making progress in therapy. Definitely worth a rewatch if you haven't seen it for a while! (Also I'd forgotten how many amazing guest stars were on the show!)
1 Edgar/Bug = Vincent D'onofrio played Gomer Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket". 2. Tommy Lee Jones' roommate in college was Al Gore. 3. Jones has claimed that he's never had a part that he didn't love and doesn't have a job. Just a hobby that pays very well.🤑😁 4. "Congratulations Reggie........It' a squid".🤣 5. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.
Men in Black is a movie series where all the movies actually are good. (In my own personal opinion.) They're all watchable and funny and enjoyable with great action stuff going on, including the latest one. Btw. The dog probably had the time of his life being shook about. Dogs like being played with. :D Also, does a movie HAVE to be Murican for you to watch it? Because, you might want to watch "Ronin". It's a friggin incredible 1990s thriller/heist type movie. Awesome actors, awesome story, wicked wicked action sequences. Noticably different an experience compared to same genre US movies, why exactly that is you'll see when you see it. :)
Considering the opening credits did mention 'Alien Design' why was it a surprise when an alien is shown? Apart from that, a fun reaction to a fun movie.
Consider reading the book "Men in Black" by Steve Perry (and another writer). It's fun, more background stories and the parts from Bug's point of view are hilarious, lets just say he's a true noble hero in his mind.
The guy who plays Edgar the cockroach went on to be a lead detective in Law And Order SVU for probably 15 years. It was a really popular show. Pretty funny. I hope you do all 3 MIB as i think the 3rd is more widely liked. I wish you could skip 2 but i know you can't lol. Hope you and your family are doing well

Your shirt is a beautiful reminder of keeping loved ones in our wellness wishes & prayers. Much love to your Mom and to you & yours!💞🎬🤟
Glad you noticed, she's important to me
"Oooh this music has a Beetlejuice feel!"
You'll always know a Danny Elfman score when you hear it XD
Men In Black is a phrase with a very specific meaning that has been in use since the 1950s. It alone should have told you (and every other American who has ever had an awareness of the world around them) what the movie was about.
Men in Black 1 and 2 are good. 3 & 4 are just cash grabs in the crazy reboot world we live in now.
My favorite part of this movie is listening to Edgar’s wife speak. She’s so funny!
She was funny. Edgar suit

MiB 2 is a pretty damn good sequel. Nice to see you react to this one bud.
It was fun
Now you need to watch the music video from this movie.
Also now you need to The Wild Wild West with Will Smith and the music video from it
I only knew Edger from Law and Order Criminal Intent, my favorite of the Law and Order series
All four of the movies in this franchise are excellent, but this first one is generally considered the best of the bunch.
Yeah, that's the Guggenheim. The story I heard is that Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to design the Guggenheim. He hated the job so much that he made it a toilet. I could be wrong.
It is SO a toilet! Omg. They also used it in a scene in Running Scared w/ Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines.
@@sharpgirl72 Doesn't it look like being IN the flush?
@@sharpgirl72 Also, that's a good movie.
Running Scared IMO is the best buddy cop movie ever.
'Men In Black' premiered at a theater near you 27 years ago today, July 2, 1997
Another great movie, glad to see your patrons aren't trolling you
Me neither
I really hope you do 2, I actually like it even more than the first and it is one of my favorite movies to this day
Will do
Eh 2's a little marmite... its fine, just not as good for most people as 1... now the 3rd movie (which is rarely reacted too) is equal (and in some ways better) than even 1.
Now the 4th movie... THAT cant be totally ignored.
Your reaction is contagious and just as fun as the movie!!🤣💝💞
So glad you enjoyed
You must see Casablanca!

3:43 I love the alien's utility fanny pack.
ya you know, tourists. They always have them
Awesome Movie and Work Bro Thanks 👍👍 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
I loved playing marbles as a kid. I wonder how many galaxies I won, lost, and hit another one really hard.
Never seen Casablanca??? Well-written story. Best picture 1944. Iconic cast. Need I say more?
Such a fun film. The 2nd one is good also.
I got to see this in a drive through movie Theater when I was a kid, me and my sister got to lay on top of the station wagon With pillows.
Wow, I totally didn't notice that. Great catch
First MIB is iconic. I vaguely remember second one and don't know if i have seen 3rd at all (haven't seen latest one). It doesn't compare. But maybe that's just me :) Hope your mom doing better.
this is a great movie i love it
When the smuggler says "Silencio" they cut to a shot of Mikey so for a long time I thought that was his character's nickname.
Funny
21:52 ... Riff Raff ...if you know, you know.
Rick Baker and David LeRoy Anderson won best makeup at the Oscars for this picture
"I knew Tommy Lee --- whatever his name was" ha! love your reactions.
Happy to hear it
I love this movie a lot. Its one of my top five favorite movies of all time.
The pug was trained to enjoy being shaken.
I hope so
You should definitely watch "Mystery Men" very few people have reacted to it & it has a star-studded cast & is hilarious
That's easily my favorite superhero movie ever.
RIP to Paul Reubens (The Spleen)
Great to hear from you and agreed on all points
Definitely should react to the second one. It's very good.
Will do
Judging by the big guns in the pic you can bet it's an action movie. 😋 Your gonna love it! I was feeling for the poor Pug too. I haven't seen any of the other MIBs but yeah check them out. (But not before seeing Cassablanca.)
Great to know
16:34 oh my god, I remember those! That weird tabloid that was half joke, half schizo, and had those bizarre pictures on the front! Oh man I used to love looking through those when I was a kid anytime my mom took me with her to the store.
WooHoo...a GREAT movie, all are good, 1 & 3 are the best!
Edgar suit, I will find a way to use "Edgar suit" in as many situations as possible.
I'm pausing this entire reaction until you see Casablanca.
I've added it to my list based on this movie
Love & Prayers!
✌👽❤
Demolition Man is a must
Added thanks
Do get to Casablanca at aome point. Classic for a reason.

People dont give it much love but 3 is my favorite.
I was unaware of this but apparently there was a lot of theories around this time that Elvis was an alien which probably explains the hinted idea in the animated movie Lilo and Stitch(it comes on & an alien says he loves this song as if to imply Elvis is an alien still singing in space). This is an interesting movie series, if you're curious there are women in black we just focus on the guys until the 4th one Men in Black International.(I thought it was nice but some say it's a mixed bag)
If you're looking for a weird book with interesting stories you should try House of Leaves. Just be careful cause the way text is put on some pages are meant to be weird/mess with you.
the Men in Black movies are so entertaining and fun i personally had fun watching all em i do thing the 1st few are the best but to me theyre all so fun
Love your shirt! Hope mom is doing okey! Great reaction this movie is so much fun.
Thanks so much
The second one is okay (not as good as the first).
I pretty much concur with these rankings except I put 1 just a little above 3 🤏
1 Edgar/Bug = Vincent D'onofrio played Gomer Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket".
2. Tommy Lee Jones' roommate in college was Al Gore.
3. Jones has claimed that he's never had a part that he didn't love and doesn't have a job.
Just a hobby that pays very well.🤑😁
4. "Congratulations Reggie........It' a squid".🤣
5. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.
It's a really fun movie
It's raining two and a half men in black
Men in Black is a movie series where all the movies actually are good. (In my own personal opinion.) They're all watchable and funny and enjoyable with great action stuff going on, including the latest one.
Btw. The dog probably had the time of his life being shook about. Dogs like being played with. :D
Also, does a movie HAVE to be Murican for you to watch it? Because, you might want to watch "Ronin". It's a friggin incredible 1990s thriller/heist type movie. Awesome actors, awesome story, wicked wicked action sequences. Noticably different an experience compared to same genre US movies, why exactly that is you'll see when you see it. :)
This movie is gem, so glad you reacted to it.! Your comments were priceless! 😄
Glad you enjoyed
Watch past all the credits and there is a dance video with Will dancing with aliens.
Oh man, I missed it
Considering the opening credits did mention 'Alien Design' why was it a surprise when an alien is shown? Apart from that, a fun reaction to a fun movie.
I don't pay to close attention to opening credits
__R.I.P.__
RIP TORN
🌹🌷🌹🌷🌹
This Movie shaped my childhood.
Hope you and your family are doing well
Great time as always, james.those movies are so much fun.I hope yoh will will get to the others eventually
