Thanks for your video of the Diamondback HD! I am just about sold on this cover as being one of the most secure. I do see a potential flaw that looks like it could easily be exploited. It looks as if all someone would need to do is remove 4 hinge screws and a cover could be removed with a slight twist from the hinge side. It would be cool if someone could verify this as it looks like this would be pretty easy to do. The alternative cover I am looking at is the Renegade cover which is similar but does not have hinge screws that can be removed. What is your opinion on this? Thx.
A tip from another Tacoma Diamondback owner. Get a tailgate weather seal kit. It just some of the stick on rubber weather seal. Otherwise, you are going to get some water mist and suck tons of dust through the cracks in the tailgate. Since it looks like you are on a lot of dusty roads I'd highly recommend it.
Love my DB SE smooth black on 3rd gen taco. After a year of beating the heck out of it off road and on a cross country road trip it still looks and functions as it did day 1. Best cover hands down. This is a great example of "you get what you pay for".
As a PA resident I never knew about Diamond back just purchased a 2023 Tacoma and put the undercover armor on it but the Diamond back is a little over kill for me and my needs but it looks like a very well constructed cover I also own a 2005 Tacoma that I bought new in 2005 she's coming up on 20 years old and still running great
I’m from Harrisburg and went to PSU! I never realized that about Diamondback. They seem to make an amazing truck bed cover. Thanks for the explanation of them. Definitely top of the list when I get a truck one day.
Love to see a bug net designed to fit over a bed extender with this. Lower tailgate, raise rear section of cover, flip out tailgate extender, lay in bed, lower cover, install bug net… sweet dreams!
I love my diamondback. I have an SE mounted on my Colorado, also with the 6’ bed. It’s totally true what you said about mounting a tent. I have an FSR tent mounted onto the front runner loadbar system and losing the articulation does make getting stuff in and out of my truck bed a bit of a challenge, especially with that extra foot offered in the longer bed. Still love having all my stuff back there safe from the weather and locked up tight. I drove coast to coast and it was nice having everything secure back there.
The tacoma is progressing nicely! That DB cover is clean and compliments any truck really well. Also can’t get over how sweet that wrap is! Really into that pattern.
I don't know if Anyone told you yet but i would get a pedal Commander for it so it will give the tacoma a much better Throttle response. It's one of the best mods to add to it.
My girlfriend and I were talking bed covers the other day and when I told her about these she admitted there wasn’t really any point in getting anything else but a diamondback. Loving the Taco content man! 🔥🤙
You probably already know this but you can add bed lights. It’s already wired in to the truck behind the tail light housing. Pretty inexpensive too. I think oem led lights are around $50. There may even be a way to wire those cover lights to that also.
I have one on my Colorado Zr2 Bison. I didn't go with the HD as I didn't really need the 1600 pound payload. I did go with smooth though. They truly are awesome. So many uses and mounting options.
I’d like to see how it sleeps Talon! Love your content by the way brotha, you are the best at explaining and going in depth to everything you bring on the channel!
I've been thinking of getting one for the past year or 2 for my trd off-road tacoma and after hearing Mike's opinion and also yours I'm made the decision of getting one
Pretty sweet... the mooring cleats are a nice touch off to the side to allow endless configurations for top bed storage, bikes, containers etc. Pretty cool man! Def does look good on your new truck 🙂
I want to love this but can someone tell me how I would effectively use the box for hauling things, like for example getting mulch. I am guess that it can’t easily be removed or can it for situations like this ?
I could see how this would be useful for dedicated overlanding builds, but I don't like how this takes away most of the utility from your truck bed. With that crossbar in the center you can no longer haul pallets, couches, or basically anything tall or long. Unless I'm missing something here?
Useful review. I don't know if you'll see this, it has been so long, but I am deciding b/t getting one of the F150's with either the tradition fold down tailgate that has that pullout step, or the new 2024 pro access tailgate that in addition to being able to open by folding down flat also has a center section that can swing out to the side. If you've gotten that front runner tent set up and used it, how was the access strictly thru the open fold down tailgate, very inconvenient, and do you think it would be significantly more convenient to have that swing out center door in the tailgate so i can reach under the bedcover from right up next to the back of the truck w/out have the fold down flat tailgate in my way? And do you think that tailgate with the swing out doo would seal against water as well as the traditional? Man, I love this bedcover. I plan to get it on whichever truck I end up buying.
I'm glad I watched the whole video before posting this, man as you get older you (mostly) get super smart. Now that I know WHAT it is (by going frame by frame on one of your close-ups), let me ask you: HOW do you like that Off Grid flannel?
@@TalonSei @Talon Sei Thanks man! Please join the Beardbrand Alliance. You'd make a great addition to the community. I don't work for Bb, I just want you to join. It's easy.
Hey they are awesome covers but I think they should develop a hard cover just for security purposes for back of the pickup bed. There isn’t a lot of really secure hard bed covers. Owners not using to haul on top of the cover would appreciate a secure hardcover by a awesome company. I would purchase one myself. Excellent tutorial
So I guess for anyone who uses their bed to haul big stuff like furniture, lawnmowers, snowblowers etc… don’t get this and get a tri fold. But if you use your bed like a car trunk for functionality this is the top of the line bed cover?
Either flip-up panel can lay flat on top of the other to expose that half of the bed. If that isn't enough, both front and rear flip up panels remove with ease in under a minute. If you need the center portion removed for full bed access as well, that is about a 10 minute job, just loosening the clamps and taking it off.
Sounds like a great company I like the weight capacity you can put on top of it, the one I have on my truck it’s a three panel different company. but I have a ladder rack on my truck little bit larger than what everybody else is running that I can actually open up the three panel an access everything in the back of my truck ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out PS can’t wait to see everything that’s going on your truck buddy 😎
Really like your Tacoma so far. I’ve always been a fan of access/extended cabs over crew cab trucks. That camo wrap looks awesome, too! Can’t wait to see what you do with it next. Much love from Texas!
Plan on getting a Diamondback, torn between the rugged and smooth finish though. Seems like most go for the smooth, is that just for the aesthetics? I plan on possibly having coolers and kayaks strapped straight on top but even the smooth looks pretty grippy. Opinions? will the smooth wear down from doing that quickly? Thanks!
The diamondback may be weather sealed but the Tacoma bed is not! I love my cover, but get more water coming in the front corners by the bulk head than I would like.
@@TalonSei Yeah I added that comment before I finished the video, my bad! They didn't send silicone with mine I haven't been wanting to do the silicone but it seems to be the only option.
Nope once installed I can get the cover off in probably 5 minutes and back on in about the same. The initial setup time is just to get the fitment correct 👍🏻
So, I do have a question... I got my 2019 TRD Pro last week. The bed cap on the cab side, looks just like the one you have, and mounts in the same place that the rail system was, in my 2015. I actually used that for hauling my bikes. I am planning on a DB cover, so the bike mounts will probably go on the cover. But, do the 3rd gens really delete the rail on the cab side of the bed?
I have a '21 TRD pro, im buying one, going to their website right after watching this video. mines only a 5 1/2 foot bed. Do you have a coupon CODE? I want an Overland rooftop tent setup eventually. are you going to get one? will wait to see what you get first. Mike First line defense has Diamond back and swears by them. SOLD!
Please be careful about telling people it is weather proof or water resistant. There are a ton of areas, as part of the truck bed, where water can get in. Some areas are minor, others are major. One of the major areas where water is getting in to mine is in the front 2 corners of the truck bed where there are very wide gap openings that sit right below the cover. I haven't figured out how I'm going to plug those holes; I'm really trying to avoid filling the whole damn thing with some sort of adhesive goo. Maybe plug them with some foam? I don't know. And it's not the little tiny gaps where you put the silicone. It's the large gaps under those.. Please share your thoughts on that if you can.

Where did you get the light bars?
Is your entire truck painted with bed liner?
Do you know if the locks on the cover can be re-keyed to the ignition key?
