Ooooohhhhh tony the allotment looks grand.. All the hard work has paid off. Thanks for the intermission loved it. Can't wait to see what is coming soon.
My goodness your plot will be ready for house and garden magazine! I can’t believe you had dreadlocks when you were younger! But really your garden looks awesome. Now about the scissors: being a sewer I am imagining that your wife if she’s a sewer also, she’s not gonna be happy about you using her good scissors to cut landscape fabric! Good luck explaining it when you take them home 😂
Lovely job Tony!!!! I’ll let you into a little secret, ladybirds love woodchip! I covered a large area of my plot last year and come summer time it was covered in leadybird larvae, natural pest killers did a great job of getting all the nasty bugs on my plot for me all summer 😊
Tony,,,a tip,if you can get to any of those cut edges before the woodchip goes down, give them a tickle with a blow torch to seal them and stop them fraying.
Nice tidy plot with no weeds this year Tony, good for you. On another note, I have a colander, a sieve, umpteen pairs of kitchen scissors, knives and teaspoons, dustpan and brush. The kitchen sink is still at home but the bath is down on the plot with the other stuff, destined to be a wildlife pond...I strongly suspect that many plot holders bring stuff from home to use once, then leave them there...Steve...:)
Grand job Tony lad!...the plot is looking great, when you get the chippings down, it’ll be like a show garden man!...I’m intrigued about what you’re planning for the bit in front of the shed?..nice little spot for a table and a couple of chairs maybe?...atb mate, Mark
Well done Tony, you seriously put the effort in. I wouldn't have been bothered to with dropping the level of the path...but that just me. I also would have saved my money on the weed membrane by using cardboard. I always get my cardboard from Halfords bike stores. The cardboard used to transport bikes is incredibly thick and lasts ages. I spoke to the Manager of my local store and they now give me all their waste cardboard. It means I'n adding valuable carbon to the soil and using much less plastic.
I’m always taking the kitchen scissors into the shed and getting shouted at for it. Problem is I know I have several pairs in there already, somewhere.
I managed to get down yesterday as well, surprisingly was nice and calm day considering what was forecast, we've defiantly done well compared to other coasts. Bit windy today though. I was going to weed fabric my slabs but thought it was overkill for slabs, but for bark it will be perfect well worth doing! I'm all for making the extra effort to make life easier in future! Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs S
🏴 can't tell you enough ,how much I love your plot. You've done a cracking job fair play . A true inspiration. Hopefully will be getting the keys to my plot anytime now (so I've been told ) Best wishes Steve
Tony, you don't need those pegs! an old coat hanger cut into lengths and bent at the top! or the hardware store and long nails.. way cheaper it looks fantastic though. great work
There goes your poor back again! At least you could redistrube some of that excess soil. It’s going to look very neat this year. Haha, my ten minute jobs always turn into the long ones and the things I’m prepared to spend ages doing turn out easier than I think. 😊
Dear Sir. Its so good to see your garden in the time when almost every gardener is feeling bit out of steam. You have given us so many fun and exciting ideas. I hope we will see the best germination results in the brilliant garden room at home. I was wondering if you lower the lights near the doors to get more heat to plants as that set up is lacking back. Thanks again, take care.
I saw you were doing a "live" the other night and I signed on as you were signing off! Next time. The intermission photos were fabulous! And then using scissors as a hammer...
Looks great. It will work a treat. I think I'm going to go down the same route as u and have raised bed. I'll properly build them end of the year mayne
Wow that intermission..your hair dreadlocks. Was trying to guess whether it was you or not till you said. Good job done with the weed control matting. Should look tons better when you put the wood bark down.🤗
Can't wait to membrane my floor at the allotment... Can't find the link to the one you used.. I have noticed it was years ago you posted but I'm sure they will still sell it. Thank you
Oooo sorry here you go: Pro-Tec 1.2m Heavy Duty 100g Weed Control Membrane Ground Cover Landscape Fabric FREE PEGS (1.2m x 100m (50 Free Pegs)) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HH4LQT5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1qYxEbYQ7FFS5
Are you going to make paths of bark chip or stones? save you slipping about. always good when we see Daisy as well. Yeah membrane - does it actually stop the weeds, it's not really worked in the front garden but that's been there forever and they may have improved it by now. Just catching up on your weeks stuff tony as I've been up to my neck in it this week fella, so much to do. 05:31 that's the answer to my first question.
Looks brilliant Tony! Did the scissors make the journey home? I use stuff from the kitchen often, but always take them back to the kitchen. The other half mind you, has a garage full of my kitchen stuff, I’m always having to buy new measuring jugs, once he puts liquids in from the garage it’s no good. I wouldn’t mind but he doesn’t tell me he’s used them. It’s only when I come to use them does he tell me he’s used it in the garage. You’re well away for this season now Tony. Take care, Sarah.
Well I’ve finally done it - applied for an allotment last week, me back is complaining already lol 😜
Kane856 Ooooo oh yeah - all cheer Kane856!
That's looking great Tony like the photos of you and Mrs S from Wolverhampton

Keep her scissors and buy her a new pair. She'll know you took them and dulled hers. Lol
I’m going to try and do the same thing this year how much bark did you use and where did you get it from ?
I would never put that stuff down you’re killing all the biomass! Mulching is the way to go.
