    I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for posting. This video is just in time. Last spring I saw a video of how to make fruit vinegar. I had some raspberries on hand that needed to be eaten but still very good. The video said after you put the fruit in the jar to add water and sugar and set it away in a dark place. I checked on them daily for a week. The raspberries turned white and the water red. It didn’t smell like vinegar and the berries no longer tasted like raspberries so I bought more raspberries. I fished out the old berries and filled the jar with even more berries than I did before. I had to go out of town for a few weeks but it turned into months. When I got home not only were the berries white but the liquid was fizzing like your pears did. I fished the berries out and let it sit for a few weeks and it had that white stuff floating on top like both of your vinegars did. Now I know it’s yeast. I wrote to the person who made the video to find out if I ruined the vinegar but got no response . I set the jar back into the dark place until last week and I tasted it. The white stuff was gone and no more fizz. It also has not much flavor. It just tastes like weak raspberry water and not like vinegar. I really want raspberry vinegar. Should I toss this batch or just keep adding more raspberries?

    • @RowCoFarms
      @RowCoFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I would probably start fresh with a large batch of fruit. Fill the whole jar with fruit. That will give you the most flavor. Then follow the process that I did here. Allow it to ferment with the fruit for 2 weeks then strain off the fruit and let it sit for 4-6 more months. That will allow it to develop the vinegar taste. Anytime you add more fruit to the batch it gives it something to feed on which you don’t want in this case. You want to starve the ferment. That’s is what gives you that sour vinegar taste. I hope that helps some. Please let me know if you have questions. Good luck.

    • @RowCoFarms
      @RowCoFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I though my way was lazy! Lol. If it works then I’m all for it! I’ve always strained mine because I was worried about molding. But if I can eliminate a step then I’m all about it! ❤️

      @@RowCoFarms You just have to make sure everything stays under the "water" and scoby. If it sticks up, yes, it will mold. I just stir mine when ever I think about it. But I make mine in five gallon pails so it's a bigger footprint and harder to forget :)

    I don't use enough vinegar to make my own, but I found the process fascinating. I'm really impressed with your answers to questions in the comments.. Reading through them answered my questions on a couple of things! Thanks!!

      @@Ms.SheriTbe kinda pointless to use it for cleaning when distilled white vinegar is dirt cheap

    My vinegars are starting to get little bubbles in it. This is so stinking exciting!!!
    I was so thrilled I started my ACV because I went to Walmart yesterday and the gallon size of their ACV with the Mother price more than double since last week. Went from $9.?? TO $18.97 !! I was shocked!!!
    I won't be purchasing it anymore.

      Wow! What a price difference. Maybe you can put a little dent in that cost now! So exciting to see that the ferment is happening. Keep me posted. ❤️

    I usually give my apple scraps to my chickens, but I might start saving them in the freezer until I have enough to do this.
