The problem is that as soon as you fall into sleep your tongue relaxes and falls back against the airways chocking the breathing off. That's why people wake up often and feel tired the next day. Two natural remedies are chiro exercises to strengthen and support the surrounding area of the throat and also weight loss. This doesn't necessarily mean that a person is obese but only that fat has collected around the throat and oral cavity causing it to be softer and easier to close off the airway. You can be a thin person and still have apnea because you may be thin but the fat has begun to collect in that area however that fat is relatively easy to lose according to some.

I've had problems with a persistent headache for about a year. I do not know the cause, but I am a shift worker and rotate between days and nightshifts. I suspect that my headache could be caused by chronic sleep deprivation. The only other theory I have is migraine brought on by dehydration. The characteristics of the headache are right side only around and behind the eye. It came on suddenly about a year ago and subsided to a lower tolerable level. It is impacting my quality of life. There is slight muscle tension across the temple and down the side of the face. I thought initially I could have had a stroke, but there were not any stroke symptoms really. My eyesight is also ok. Not sure how worried i should be about this, but it isn't normal to have a headache almost constant for one year.

Hi, I have autoimmune encephalitis, and sleep is very important to me. I do have headaches sometimes after I wake up, which will make me think might cause a seizure if I go to normal activities without going to bed to get more sleep with painkillers till headache disappears. But this can’t be a regular activity, so if there is any possibility to get a good night sleep without a headache in morning will be so helpful. Thank you

Having this apnea condition I firmly believe that headaches are caused by the apnea. During sleep when one stops breathing for too long a time the lack of oxygen puts great strain on the muscles and nerves surrounding the head and neck sometimes even spasming without you knowing it is happening at the time. If you have an alcoholic drink or two during an evening, this can exacerbate the problem tenfold. I've had a few drinks on a Saturday night and have had a severe headache that will come and go for about three days afterwards. It is certainly unpleasant and not worth the drinking.

Of course ,lack of oxygen will always cause a headache ,it happens with my allergic rhinitis and sinusitis also ,they get blocked ,can't breath during sleep and wake up with a headache

You need to go asleep about 30 minutes later every day (time can differ for every person and it depends on your well-being). That will soft move forward your circadian rhythm. Of course it's impossible if you work or study at day time. I tried many times to move my circadian rhythm backward with no effect. Maybe if using medications that passible. The main thing you have to remember is that it's impossible to move circadian rhythm quickly.
