The saddest love stories are those in which the man is a monk. Pagodas back then were like orphanages, people just dropped babies there and so naturally they were brought up as monks. They were brought up breathing, living the religion of Buddha which meant they could only love the world but no one in particular because that was one of the carnal things that they weren't supposed to do. In those love stories, between Buddha and his love, the monk rarely chooses the girl.

    • @Ventpiire
      @Ventpiire 7 ปีที่แล้ว +284

Saphire I don't find it sad personally. On the contrary, this is the most beautiful kind of love. The fact that a monk would choose to love the world rathet than one individual just shows how big his heart is and how pure his love is. And the fact that this same monk, full of love, fell in love with a woman is possibly the best gift he can give her, and the best gift she can hope for.

    We met in the summer
    The sweet scent of primose
    The sweet taste of romance
The sweet touch of love that
    I can not feel, unfortunately
    Our love meant distance.
    But no matter how far,
I do not mind for I will always
    Put my heart beside yours.
    Spring meant happiness;
The world was in full bloom
    Pastries and cakes,
    Full moons and festivals
Are just a slice of a memory,
A portion of a bliss you’ve given me
    Autumn,
    Maybe it was right here.
    Dead leaves,
    Broken twigs,
    Falling leaves like tears
    Despairing cries buried
Under the piles of fallen frond
    But my love
    Like the fiery orange everywhere,
    Will surround you.
    Anywhere you go
    I will be.
    Winter came,
    And
    You left.
    Time seemed to stop.
I stopped counting the days that
    Went pass me like
    Strangers do while
    I stand outside the monastery.
    Holding onto the desperate
    Wish that I can
Be in your warmth once again
Even the unsympathetic and cold Winter
    Took pity on this soul
And tried to offer me comfort
By wrapping his bitter cold arms
    Around me
And the hostile ice stealthily crept into
    My heart;
And time was frozen for me.
    Afterall
I was someone who loved you
    More than the world itself
But you love the world so much
That you became one with it

here's the true story between the two:
    Girl: Qixiu
    Monk: Shaolin
-the girl had always came to the pagoda to listen to the monk telling the stories
-she started to have feelings for the monk and confessed to him but the monk later rejected since getting involved in a relationship would distract him
-the girl felt sad and cried
    - the girl didn't come to the pagoda since then and the monk's master would always asked him if the girl came to listen to his story. the monk said that the girl would not be coming here anymore.
-later on , the monk started to realized his feelings for the girl but when he remembered about the past, it was too late, he regretted for his decision. grieve in pain.
P/S: the two characters were drawn by
伊吹五月. They are originally from a chinese game called 剑侠情缘三.

Kartika tika i actually read it on a vietnamese website that reviewed the story between the two. im unable to find other website that have this story in english. but i actually summarized the story into words. the real story was originally created as a song name 皈依 by 小曲儿 . link to the song: th-cam.com/video/up0FwUpIs1k/w-d-xo.html

    • @aiilo5733

Kartika tika the story kinda goes like this if i remembered it correctly.
The girl was actually a queen to be somewhere but where put into the place where the youth monks would stayed and learn about Buddhism. The boy monk and the girl soon become friends, but the monk was never too interested in her because he's a monk and monks don't counter with relationships. The girl would often express her feelings to the young monk but he would reject her every time. The little girl went to the master to ask why the young monk is so cold hearted, and the master said, "that's because he was born without a heart." The girl replied, "I can change this!" and the master ask how, she replied "with strong faith".
She tried every way she can think of to warm up his "lost heart". She would take him to out and hope he would express something, she would take him to beautiful places to let him see. But regardless of what she said and where she took him, he had no interest in anything.
One day, she took him to a cliff side where there was a lot of blossom trees. The view was beautiful. The cliff was standing above the clouds with a soft breeze. The wind created a blossom rain with two teens standing underneath the tree looking over the calm waterfall. "You like it here?" she asked. "I do, i would want to live here someday."
      He remained silence.
Years went passed and they remained this "weird"relationship till their late teen years. The little girl was eventually called back by her father because their people was in war and needs her. She left without saying goodbye, but she knows he knows. Before she took off, she waited for him at the main door. The monk was sweeping the yard at the time and he was in no hurry. The master went up to him and asked him why he doesn't want to say goodbye, the boy simply said no need. So she left with tears and without any words.
The war took longer than she would think. During war, the king died and the girl took over. With strong faith of hoping to see the monk again, she did all she can to stop the war from spreading to where the monks are. One time during war, she was badly injured, but she had only one thing on her mind and that is the monk. She called for the master and he reached to her camp site overnight. They had a long discussion.
Soon after her injury, the war was put to an end and everything was back to how it was. Something has changed though. No one knows where the queen has gone and the monk, who didn't have a heart, is now traveling looking for her.
"Please, I beg of you," she said to the master.
"What's the point if this can't lead to happiness?"
"I just want him to have feelings and live this world."
Few years passed by, the monk sees a familiar face. He rushed over to her with joy hoping for a reunion. "Hey, i miss you so much!" he shouted out. She took one look at him and turned her head away.
"You've been here your whole life, she wants you to live the world, she gave up her heart so you can accomplish just that."
The moment the monk received the heart, all of the girl's memories and feelings flow through him. Everything she's gone through, everything thought she'd thought of is now within the monk. And with short words to his master, he was on the road looking for his "lost love".
      "Don't you remember me?"
      "I'm sorry."
      It was ironic.
"What's the point of this, she can't remember anything," the master said to him.
"She did the same thing to me, and now it's my turn."
The monk took her to the cliff side where he remembered how much she loved the view.
"Do you remember that time in fall when we were here? It's beautiful, but I couldn't see the beauty of it. Now I can, but you can't no more..."
Just like their childhood days, she tries every way to warm up his lost heart, but now it's the opposite.
That's pretty much the story. Sorry that it's so brief.

There she stood, yet again, holding up a basket of food for him with a cheery smile. He accepted it with a word of prayer for her, and she stood inside to listen to him telling the stories to the people. There was a way he spoke and gestured that she found entrancing, his eyes sparkling as the stories seemed to come alive with him. It was enchanting, the way he entranced her, and she found herself falling despite knowing that the ending would never be what she wanted. But she couldn't help herself, falling yet again despite her instincts of the heartbreaking tragedy that would befall.
And summers passed, autumn came, and she found herself there alone, in the temple that smelled of burning incense. Sitting quietly for a while, she left a basket on the steps and prayed in front of Buddha, whispering:
"I see myself falling, but it doesn't even feel like falling. Perhaps I'm a fool, but I love him."
Then, seasons passed, and suddenly spring came with a cool breeze. He was still there, but older, and she had grown up like a blossoming flower with beauty. There, then, she still came under the pouring rain, offering him her basket. Gently, he held out his scroll to block the drops for her. Giving him a cheeky smile, she confessed.
    "I love you."
    "..."
"I'm sorry, but it cannot be."
    "Oh."
With a bitter heart, tears fell, unseen due to the rain. Offering her last smile towards him as if she had expected he would say that, she ran into the rain with relief that her tears would not be seen by anyone, but felt only by herself. Praying that he would be safe, she never went to the temple again. More than once, the monk's master would ask him about the whereabouts of the cheerful girl that had disappeared without a trace. His heart felt a sudden pain, and he found himself telling his master that she would never return.
The flowers withered, and winter came. But despite his heart hoping against reason that she would come, she never did. It was there, then, that he felt despair over his decisions. But it was too late, gone was her and her basket, and he was left to mourn his own decisions with unending regret. He would never find her again, for it was too late.
    曾经听说,雨天总要放手。

Pink are the blossoms dancing in the spring wind
Pink like her handpicked clothes and blushing cheeks
She'll never forget the warmth of the floating sun
Her heart, like the pink blossoms, slowly falls with each whisper.
    Green like a fresh romance
As the leaves comes to life,
    The rain arrives stronger
He is afraid that she'll melt with the passionate tears
So he becomes her shelter for as long as he can be
He looks out for her just until the rain stops.
    Orange like the setting sun
Fading away and crisping up like the leaves on the branches
    Soon there will be nothing
    Like him
    But she waits anyways
For the last piece to die.
White were the flakes descending within the cold wind
    There is nothing now
    No warmth
    No pink, green, or orange.

    Remember the summer,
where our gaze first met across the clear waters of the river.
    Remember the rains,
where our hearts first shared words and held a chest of secrets.
    Remember the fall,
when you fell like the autumn leaf, whitered, who lost it's green.
    Remember that winter,
when I waited for you to come as the first snow fall, but heavens called me to their doors.
    .
And you stood at the porch. Gently. Slowly. My heart and body embraces you.
    "All this time, you waited?"
"Well, I couldn't have let you do this alone. I left you once. Twice is too mean."
    And I smiled.
    The wrinkles lost it's meaning
    and we saw our faces.
    The same faces,
when our gazes first met across the clear waters but the distance seemed shorter and sweeter.
We took our steps, held our hearts and vanished into the blinding lights.
We remembered and that's all that mattered.

I met you under the cherry blossoms
Each day, you tell me your stories
My flower blossomed in your gaze
Humid weather does not stop me
Monsoons can come, and so will I
In the end, my yearning intensifies
Autumn leaves fall during our wake
I present you my harvest over the two seasons
But you chose your beliefs over your heart
Like my love for your gaze again,
The tree we have always met under remains bare of fruits
Will you ever look at me?

"Do you think we could be?"
She asked, a smile present. Though one may say that the girl was hoping for the best, in truth, she was preparing for the worst.
    And it came.
He smiled back, and shook his head.
"Alas, but we cannot..." he simply replied.
    "I see..."
The girl kept her smile though, for that's what the elders taught her: "To face what life gives you with a smile is proof of the determination to keep moving on."
So she did: she closed her eyes and kept that smile.
While her tears began to fall.
He knelt down, and observed the teardrops on the ground.
"Petals falling from the withered blossom..." he said.

There are many symbolic meanings, we Chinese like to imply that there will be many images, for example spring trees grow young leaves, and is the season of flowering, so love as good as the growth of new leaves, a symbol of the emergence of love, summer, leaves grow more and more lush, love will become more and more intense, autumn leaves gradually withered. Means that love gradually disappeared, winter, the leaves fell, means that love is completely gone

      Our forbidden love..💔
We met each other at the temple, I came everyday, eventually I fell in love, eventually I couldn’t keep it a secret, you apologized to me, we can’t be together, you walk away from me, I watch walk away sobbing, quietly silently heartbroken, I came back the next day, but you refused to come see me, I visited everyday, until one day I fell ill, you finally came to see me, you held me in your arms as I was breathing, my last breath you told me, you are sorry, you love me as well, I closed my eyes, as we promised to be together, the next life if there is a next life...💔😪
Am sorry I suck a poetry to 😭

There she stood, yet again, holding up a basket of food for him with a cheery smile. He accepted it with a word of prayer for her, and she stood inside to listen to him telling the stories to the people. There was a way he spoke and gestured that she found entrancing, his eyes sparkling as the stories seemed to come alive with him. It was enchanting, the way he enraptured her, entrapped, and she found herself falling despite knowing that the ending would never be what she wanted. But she couldn't help herself, falling yet again despite her instincts of the heartbreaking tragedy that would befall.
And summers past, autumn came, and she found herself there alone, in the temple that smelled of burning incense. Sitting quietly for a while, she left a basket on the steps and prayed infront of the Buddha, whispering:
"I see myself falling, but it doesn't even feel like falling. Perhaps I'm a fool, but I love him."
Then, seasons past, and suddenly spring came with a cool breeze. He was still there, but older, and she, grown up like a blossoming flower with held with beauty.
Offering her last smile towards him as if she had expected he would say that, she ran into the rain with a relief that her tears would not be seen by anyone, but felt only by herself. Praying that he would be safe, she never went to the temple again. More than once, the monk's master would ask him about the whereabouts of the cheerful girl that had disappear without a trace. His heart felt a sudden pain, and he found himself telling his master that she would never return.
The flowers withered, and winter came. But despite his heart hoping against reasons that she would come, she never did. It was that, then, that he felt despair over his decisions. But it was too late, gone was her and her basket, and he was left to mourn his own decisions with unending regret. He would never find her again, for it was too late.
    曾今听说,雨天总要放手。
Credit to +T nhi for making feel inspired to write this story with her/his explanation for the true story. I thought I would write it with what he/she explained :D
The chinese quote was one that I found online and thought would be suitable for it :)

I'm a Chinese who lives in the US. the way that nearly all the news media vilify China and exaggerate the unethical actions of the Chinese government bothers me a lot. However, I'm glad to see that elements of Chinese culture such as this and Liziqi's youtube channel are becoming more and more popular among the younger generation. I hope all people around the world can discover and know about China through their own eyes instead of through the news media which is often manipulated by the government.

Thank you for this beautiful music. The comment section became a creative space for everyone I love this. At this moment, I'm studying, but I guess I learned more here. This music made me stop from what I was doing and made me stare at the blank wall in front of me, just listening to this masterpiece. Five minutes of break away from the world.

The beginning of the music is already soulmatic, yet the flute, its relaxing. It's like I'm able to see the seasonal flowers in 1 time.

I remember 2 years ago finding this when I was in love with someone. We never had anything, but there was a lot of feelings in me at that time. That sweet and bitter at he same time state of mind, that melancholic and exciting hope. Sometimes I would cry a little or smile for the rest of the day because of little stupid things, haha.
Listening to this music right now made revisit this feelings and now I realised I don't feel the same anymore. I was so used to being in love with him that I thought that I still was. And I'm still kinda attracted to him but that feeling already died and I didn't even notice it go away. Now it's gone. It's gone and I can see: I've never really loved him, I was in love with the idea I created about him, the illusion of my passion. I always knew it. I knew it. But now I accept it. Today I can say I don't feel bad about it. I don't feel bad for "not trying" more because I know I would probably be dissapointed. I still like him as a nice friend. I was angry with me thinking somehow that the passion would never go, but it did. I'm finally feeling liberated of all of this. It's satisfying and nostalgic at that time. I already miss the idea and my past feelings, but I moved on from them finally.
The spring came so strong, but the winter had to come at a moment. How long the winter will take? I don't know. But a new spring will bloom sooner again and I will enjoy the cold for a while.
