Actually I think if it will change anything then to worse. So-called 'Game Porting Toolkit' is useful mostly as emulation tool for users. Its not that helpful for devs. Actually it may even discourage from working on MacOS version because if consumer base from Mac can run game via emulation then why waste money and devs time on preparing native version for Mac?
@@heroofjustice3349 you can't really stop people from tinkering with emulation. And I don't think devs go oh yeah look at all these people emulating our game with a shitty performance let's keep it that way and ignore the possibility of having a native port with two times the performance. I think if money is being thrown around from apple and I think they're doing that already devs aren't going to pass on that. Doesn't matter the percentage of people gaming on macs. And I think it's a good start. I was actually hoping to see a more popular recent loved game being ported to Mac like cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing. If that had happened that would've made headlines and encouraged devs a bit more to take initiative but in small strides I guess.
@@heroofjustice3349 Windows simply is the baseline and definitive platform for games. The overwhelming majority of "Linux" games are just Windows games running under Proton, and it's no different for macOS.
Developers just do not want the headache of porting to multiple platforms when they could just target Windows and have Proton do the heavy lifting. (I support games developers professionally).
Lol, no it won’t. GPTK2 does nothing to increase the potential buyer base of a Mac port. The games are still expected to break even without Apple subsiding development costs.

Whisky now has a new WhiskyWine version that includes GPTK2. It doubled my FPS for the FF7 Remake at 1440p

No wayyy what performance are you getting, and with what hardware?
@crack64 4K@30~60fps with highest graphics settings on M3 Max. Same FPS with the lowest settings. The CPU/GPU usage is not high which means for some reason the hardware are not fully utilized. I guess even M1 can play with a decent performance.

Curious if Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 will work with GPTK2. It uses AVX, which was previously not supported.

Hey @Andrew , is it normal that Steam still says there is no AVX / AVX2 ? I have checked multiple times, and my installation does use GPTK2, but Steam does not see AVX. Is that expected ? (and yes, I have checked D3DMetal, and when playing CS2 for instance, I can see I use GPTK2 beta 1 in the HUD).
Hi mate, great video thank you. Just wondering if you can help me please? I am trying to plau UBOAT on my mac mini m2 pro. Tried Whiskey and Crossover, Not sure if I installed Game Porting toolkit or not but, I can get the game to play (in game videos) but when actually trying to play the missions (even the training missions) it lags very badly and then freezes the game having to force close it. On Crossover I have used the standard steam install as in this video and also used the kitchen sink bottle and installed steam on that but still get the same result. Any help you can give me will be appreciated mate. TIA.
How do games on rosetta compare to apple silicon native fps wise
I succesfully open RDD2, the problem is when I open the story mode, the music keep playing but the game turns on black screen. I read that this is a common problem, so maybe I can solve it

So I’ve got the crossover running on my Mac, but one question I have is how do I download exe files on my Mac, as when I go to download an exe file it only gives me the share option. When I google it, it only gives me the option on how to run exe files, not downloading it?? Any help would be much appreciated please!

To be honest I've not had much luck with crossover I must be doing something wrong. But Ratchet and Clank looks amazing.
How are you doing this? I tried running GPTK 2 on macOS Sequoia using the same methods, but a game that required AVX (Yakuza 3 Remastered) still wouldn't run due to missing AVX, and Steam still displayed AVX and AXV2 as unsupported. Is AVX on rosetta not available on certain macs? (I use original M1)
Same boat brother, Yakuza 3 didn't work for me. (M2 Pro MBP)
If you set the ROSETTA_ADVERTISE_AVX=1 environment variable, it runs fine and you don't even have to patch it.

How do I move my existing steam bottle in crossover original to the new crossover cx patcher so I don't have to reinstall all my games?

It looks like Ratchet and Clank had some texture and LOD issue as stuff didn't look loaded. Probably just a bug that needs to be ironed out

Does the game porting toolkit 2 work only with the sequoia beta or can it be installed on latest Sonoma version too ? If I can install on Sonoma, even if I can't play all the games I would be happy to do so
Yes but you are missing out on any AVX games. It's also possible to backport the AVX Rosetta 2 changes to Sonoma but it is a bit complicated and required disabling SIP temporarily.

you don't have to open settings to open non App Store apps you can also hold down option key and open the app or right click and open then macOS will ask you for permission
I don't think that works in macOS Sequoia anymore.

I got it running with CXPatcher but now Crossover won't open. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it but every time I use CXPatcher the app refuses to boot

I feel like I did everything right, but I'm still getting the AVX error. Pretty sure I applied the patch on correctly and copy and pasted the the two files from the environment.
Edit: and I have the beta OS
I think I resolved it by deleting the old bottle and making a new one.
I got Sonic Frontiers to work. I think that one needed AVX. For some reason Yakuza 8* and Judgement are having trouble with AVX. They might need additional work to fix it.
