@@semiperfekt I absolutely agree. I stopped playing for a good long while because I was constantly connecting, disconnecting, switching server etc. which meant groups were impossible. It got too lonely honestly
To be honest, A Supra is better. As the positions are rarely wrong x

I’ve personally never had this issue, but I play offline 95% of the time. It’s definitely some kind of syncing issue with the server, but I don’t get how it can be so badly desynced to where a car that is clearly behind someone gets put ahead in scoring. I can understand some small desync if two cars were side by side at the end, but what was happening in the video was pretty extreme.
Also, 80$? Do you mean 60$?

@@EliteNoob22 It's almost impossible to beat the Type2 in the class, so I have to admit I was concentrating a bit hard to enjoy it at the time. But it's definitely amusing now, haha

Could be total race time that dictates race positions, and some lag could again dictate total race time for each player, which could also be dictated by grid position and getaway lag. I gave seen this a few times in team adventure and don't really think there is anything turn10 can do about if IF my theory is correct on this one. Bearing in mind its only a theory before all the super nerds starts with there comments. Thanks for there great vids.

Happened to me in a drag race event, three AI cars had the exact same time as mine down to a 1000th of a second, so naturally I was awarded 4th place...
That's not the same issue though, just the same symptom.

Though there might be a logical explanation for these shifts in positions, they remain just as infuriating. If indeed it is correct that this is to compensate the different start times of people, this still isn't fair, as it would be a very different race if everybody would actually start at the exact same moment. FailRace would be the one attacking and LongBow defending, which might have completely different results than what we saw now. So, yes, they should fix this ASAP. Still, a very fun video to watch!!

I was going to say something sarcastic, but instead I'll say, please don't play this until they fix it. If they don't, fine. This was a perfect video to show how broken it STILL is. I realize it's fun and costs a lot, but when you and your mates are that close in skill/speed, accuracy matters. I'm frustrated about it happening once, then it happens twice more...
I made OP A class tune for VW Doka, great car for winter road racing, insane handling, acceleration, launch and brakes but max speed of cca 150mph. Works mostly in winter since it gets overtaken in summer on long straights.

No - that theory is disproven if you re-watch the start of races 1 and 4 in this video. In Race 1, Alex starts 11th and Longbow starts 4th, so you'd expect any swing ought to be in Alex's favor.
In Race 4, Alex starts 3rd and Longbow starts 2nd, and you can see that they get almost identical starts off the line, so, it doesn't look like it can reasonably be attributed to a de-sync'ed start due to lag, either.

Honestly, I have this little 'nice guy' voice in my head and I like to think Longbow told the rest of his team to give you the 3rd race because you were screwed over twice, one of which would've been a win for your team.

It's a bug
forza is retarded at counting
People are playing through different platforms (One S. One X, PC) and the game sometimes struggles to sync the start. So it counts the total time from when you individually are released from the grid. When there is a close finish, those small tenths of time being held on the grid gets "evened out" by sorting the finishing order by each players individual _total_ time.
@@longbowxmkii doesnt look like it with race 4 start at 18:46. Playing frame by frame, you and alex both start moving in the same frame so less than 16ms (0.016 seconds) of lag, yet it still gives you the win. You were also ahead starting so it isnt grid position either
@@____5837 I don't think using when the cars actually move gives you the best indication (though it would show more obvious times), as the game also smooths lag by having cars move or exist when they aren't. Also, I think that Alex's VW is slow starting due to turbo lag from the F4, you can see that Vandura behind move before it does

can you do an Australian car team adventure in A class? (ignore forza and use ford falcons and Chrysler valiants as well as holdens), another idea is s1/s2 class FWD cars because that would be mad
There's only a couple of things that a racing game needs to do, and being able to tell WHICH VEHICLE CROSSED THE FINISH LINE FIRST is probably the most important one. How can a racing game manage to mess THAT up?
There have been many excellent explanations in the comments, but to summarize: the start times are not synced between everyone's systems. It takes the total time from when your car was released when it is determining final finishing positions - not the order that the cars crossed the line. Which is less than helpful
Probably the most angry I've ever heard Alex get, and I think I've watched all of these at least once. Even when he's getting intentionally rammed off the track by a competitor in what is supposed to be a gentleman's race, he keeps his cool. I'd be annoyed too in his shoes, especially since it actually wound up mattering for the scoring in the first race. At least it didn't wind up mattering in the adventure as a whole.

Forza really needs to fix the wrong finishing position issue. I've won really close races and got screwed out of a win due to this issue.

Tip when doing challenges with low p.i cars power 70% the time is the best option or if you can make it all wheel drive then add as much power as you possibly can.

Forza, the only racing series that struggles with basic math. And yes, Motorsport 7 has this issue as well, but nowhere as much as Horizon 4 does. Not even close.
For anyone wondering why Forza struggles with correct and accurate finishing positions, it's due to the poorly synchronized starting launch (when vehicles are released before others). The client then sends the total race time for each driver to the server, or acting server (host) in a P2P environment, and awards finishing positions based on those times, not when who crosses the line first, etc. The servers do not take actual physical player position in relationship with one another into consideration, which is a pretty stupid and lazy way of doing things instead of fixing the underlaying issue at hand in my opinion. This has been an issue since launch, and seems to be getting worse and worse.
In essence, those that are released later than others, have a distinct advantage when it comes to close finishes.
Awarding the correct finishing position is fundamental in any racing game, online or offline. You can not tell me it's too difficult when everyone else gets it right, even in online environments.
I know everyone is commenting that but it doesnt seem like the reason. Race 4 start at 18:47, i played frame by frame and longbow and alex both start moving on the same frame, so less than 16ms of difference, which doesnt make up for the entire vehicle length longbow was behind at the end
@@____5837 It may seem that way, but there may have been enough of a delay, or latency may have played its part as well. Remember, the difference of their times may have been down to the hundredths if not thousandths of seconds. That's all that's needed for Forza to screw up finishing positions.
However, yeah. It does look like they were released at the same time. So lag or latency of some type must have had a part in this one. Maybe regional differences could be a part as well? I don't know enough as to how the game works to be accurate with my guesses, just with what knowledge of how games are made and work.
There could also be other factors that affect the race timer, such as intermittent freezes or just plain slow down (performance slow down, not network slow down where the game goes into slow motion and then hyper speed). But the poorly synchronized start is the primary issue.
I would love to see a survive the hunt in gta where you are a hunter with the group for a different point of view.

I think about the only way it could be interesting is if he had recordings from most of the hunters and could cut between them and run commentary over that.

the placing is actually correct because it takes into account the distance from the starting line that each person starts at which would otherwise give someone who started at the front of the pack a huge advantage over someone who started at the back. that way your place is based on how long it takes each person to get around the track. the only other fair way to do it would be to have everyone line up in a wide line on the same start line.

I dunno if anyone else has this problem but I get a lot of lag when watching Fail Race Horizon 4 videos specifically. Not any other youtube videos and not even Fail Race GTA vids either. It's lagging every second or 2 for a couple of seconds everytime. I can't figure out why tbh
I don't think I've ever heard you be so annoyed in a video... _ever_. Forza Lag really did a number on your day.
Imagine leading an entire race to only finish second because the game decided that Longbow was close enough to class it as a pass.
I understand how Forza works it out due to differing start times, even though it's ridiculous, but it should be able to detect that when someone has led an entire race and crosses the line in first, maybe they should be given the win.
It's a broken system regardless.
It is certainly annoying to get noticably held on the grid, but it really should be determined by the order the cars crossed the line
@@longbowxmkii Should always be the order they cross, for sure. Obviously that can also be unfair on someone who has gotten held back, but it's certainly fairer than the alternative.
Having played Forza multiple times with a friend from Australia, I know how annoying it is getting held back.
Are you reporting this issue as a bug to Forza. The more that report the bug, the quicker they work on it. I mean you have videos to share with them.
Turn10 seem very EA like. They dont seem to listen to bug reports or player feedback, instead just giving shiny new cars to get with lootboxes

So I've been racing wrong all these years. . You only have to come 2and to win. another reason why I gave up with this game.
My main reason was the fact that you have to pay for an Xbox live membership and have an internet connection to unlock most of the cool vehicles they're releasing.... I figured what's the point ....I can't have the new cars anyways and I've bought just about every other car on the game ....so might as well trade it in on something else... Ironically enough traded in towards need for speed heat lol

Can you not just add up the scores yourselves if you can’t rely on the game? It’s not like your actual positions aren’t recorded before you cross the line.
It's most likely an issue with syncing between different Xbox (Original, S, X) systems and PC. And for the most part, it does not affect most race results. But, occasionally it does...

The problem is syncing the starts for all sorts of different Xbox versions and PC. So it takes the total race time from when you individually started. So when it's a close finish (within tenths), if the other player had a delayed start relative to yours, they will place ahead of you. Even though it is, in practice, not very satisfying
