    Very cool! I love how easy your casting process was, no need for someone to sit for ages with plaster all over there face! And the teeth idea is genius! Very very effective! The kitchen matt was also a clever idea although I feel like the eyes could have used some more detail somehow…still the overall look is fantastic!

    I've used foam 2 times and I didn't knew I could manipulate it while it dried until now... I feel very stupid hahahaha

    Amazing work, is there a difference with using loctite and great stuff? I made my first mask with great stuff...came out pretty good

      I always use loctite in the red can. It sets up much quicker and is so much easier to work with. It is a little more expensive but the results are worth it

    Really, really cool. Thanks for the tutorial! One qurstion if you have time, how long should you wait before first taking your mask off of the headform?

    • @thor0520
      @thor0520  ปีที่แล้ว

      I suggest you take it off the head form while it's still pliable....i.e. while it's still a little floppy if you will. A good rule of thumb is to take it off the head form pretty much right after you do the initial shaping on it. You never ever want to let it set up fully and then try to take it off. If you do it will never come off the head form without ripping or cracking. I always take mine off before it fully sets up and then I trim around the back of the neck if needed to allow it to set a little looser on the head form. Hope that helps you and maybe I will put up a helpful hints video soon 😀

    So i've had to deal with this stuff a lot in construction. Which makes me very apprehensive to use it for art projects. Do you notice any off gassing from it,
    Once it's dried and cured? What i'm understanding is you're using the water to keep it from sticking to you? Because getting that crap on you is a nightmare.

      Only use the Loctite Spray Foam in the red can! No gassing. I have worn these masks for several hours during our Haunted house at the Air Force Base and had no problems whatsoever. I made several masks for the other actors and they reported the same thing. I do not suggest using any other spray foam other than the Loctite Spray Foam in the red can!

      @@thor0520 Thanks I appreciate the reply. I have never tried that brand. Lock tight makes everything now it seems like. I use their quick grab construction Adhesive of a lot.

    My friend bought a mask for a Silent Hill nurse costume but it didn't fit right 😭 I think we'll try making our own using this method! Thanks!

      I take a lot of my inspiration from movies like Silent Hill. Let me know how yours comes out! Just make sure you use loctite foam ...it is the only one that works ☺️

    That loctite foam costs over 65$/£51.69 each here in the UK.
    I assume that some of the chemicals are not used/allowed over here so it isn't easily or readily available.
    Ebay is the best place to get hold of it and on top of that the shipping cost is more than the actual product.
    It is so frustrating.
    Great recording though.
    Best wishes 👍

    Is it safe on your skin, some people can have an allergy to latex?

    • @thor0520
      @thor0520  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The foam has never bothered me. I have an allergic reaction to latex myself! One of the reasons I make my masks with the foam.

    Can you use a styrofoam head? Like the one you buy at Hobby Lobby.

    • @thor0520
      @thor0520  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use the styrofoam head. The only issue is that it may be smaller than your actual head size. Watch my video on making a plaster cast head form. It is a simple project that will help you with your mask making process 🙂

      @@thor0520 thanks for the reply and for the video! Though I still got a few questions, does the foam form into styrofoam or atleast Similar? And will it stick to latex?

      The foam will dry out to a consistency harder than styrofoam.
