    I don't think there is anyone demoing and reviewing gear as thoroughly as you do. The amount of work that you put into these is not lost on your audience. And your passion for gear and these reviews is clearly visible in the way you speak about what you're reviewing. You're truly on a level of your own, Mark!

      That’s so kind of you to say, thank you. It’s a very lucky thing to get to check out so much cool gear and, more importantly, to be in a position where I don’t have to cover anything I’m not into or impressed with. Makes this gig a fun and easy one.

      I second that comment and would like to add that the actual decisions you make on guitar, the stuff you play, intro tracks and the demo sections are so musical and enjoyable!

    The rain sounds is so so cool!

    • @sungong8052
      @sungong8052 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm pretty sure you can control it with the onset control, although some spaces will have a more delayed onset automatically than others because of their physical reality. It's really odd but some structures have a pre-delay effect built in almost, crazy to think, but architecture was the original time-based effects engine. It's not exactly the same but it's similar. You wouldn't want control over that, you would just want a different IR.

    • @JackSole17
      @JackSole17 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah definitely understandable, and it’s really cool that they created a pedals that has a unique aspect to it because most pedals nowadays are very similar!

    • @sungong8052
      @sungong8052 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right! and its priced more reasonably than several of the Convolution Reverb plug-ins out there, with an amazing and unique library of IRs. I would much rather have a pedal, with resale value for 400, than a plugin for 600.

    Nice pedal and nice demo. An alternative pedal to this is the Tasty Chips Integral. Same small form factor IR loader with some more straightforward / regular controls. Always wondered why there weren't more long IR loader pedals available, seems so obvious with all the cab-sim-ir-load pedals out there.

  • @GastMusike
    @GastMusike ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That sounds so good! The fact that can not do 100% wet is a deal breaker for me though. I was hoping to use it to get some captures of rack reverbs in a pedal and I use then 100% wet.

    • @eternalvernal1286
      @eternalvernal1286 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Couldn't you just do a capture of a 100% wet and turn it up or down?

    • @GastMusike
      @GastMusike ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I am missing something, but I do not think so@@eternalvernal1286 if you check the part where Mark demos the irregular reverbs he mentions he really misses a dry kill. I think a dry level would have made this perfect.

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah analog dry through is part of the hardware of this pedal so there’s no way to kill dry or go 100% wet. BUT his other, bigger devices can load IR’s and route the wet and dry signals separately so it can be done there.

    • @GastMusike
      @GastMusike ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh cool!@@markjohnstonofficial Thanks for letting me know. Beebo looks great, I guess I will pick one up.

    • @PsychicHealingFactoryOutlet
      @PsychicHealingFactoryOutlet ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can get 100% wet on devices like this if you make a copy of the input signal, flip the phase and mix it back in. This cancels out the dry, leaving just the difference (100% wet). This can be accomplished in a DAW, but i prefer a bypass looper pedal. There are a bunch to choose from, i prefer kniv by pladask elektrisk. Phase cancelation is your friend. @markjohnstonofficial

  • @PsychicHealingFactoryOutlet
    @PsychicHealingFactoryOutlet ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you can full wet anything with a bypass looper (I recommend pladask kniv).

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s not true; this has an analog dry thru that can’t be bypasses. There’s no full wet or kill dry here

    • @PsychicHealingFactoryOutlet
      @PsychicHealingFactoryOutlet ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markjohnstonofficial actually it is true, i do it all the time. Its a useful trick that works via phase cancellation. Maybe you misinterpreted my comment?

      @@davedraws76 ok i try again: before ambient pedals were a thing i used strange irs in logics convolution reverb for kinky soumdstuff. Egcusing the sound of a washing machine as ir and superimposing that on guitar sound. I asked pedal manufacturers why ther is no convolution pedal for years. The didnt get it.
      Question a: the poly beebo was one of two existing pedals wich could host convolution reverb irs.
      Do you know if this pedal is just the Beebo module with a fancy interface?
      Question b: can i upload my own irs? Or just use the presets.
      C: it would be cool if it had a function where you could alter the ir size with an lfo. Like a chorus pedal, just that the room size changes. That was fun wit logics convolution reverb. Pigtronix has this as a function in its new reverb. Nice demo!

    • @johanaavit
      @johanaavit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These reverbs are captures of actual spaces, so unless there are flanging in the space captured, there is no flanging possible.
      This reverb is meant to be as natural as possible and also as simple as possible.
      If you could find a real room/hall etc with natural flanging you could capture it and load it in to the box.
      Or you could capture a reverb from another reverb unit and then load it into this pedal.

    • @polypedals
      @polypedals ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This won't. Beebo will allow you to have any of the 100 ish modules on just the reverb tail.

    • @peterjessop1878
      @peterjessop1878 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes as Loki said Beebo can do that as can Empress Zoia. You can also replicate it in most multi effects boxes by placing a reverb then a flanger in a parallel effects path to the dry guitar signal.

      Yeah, and they paid for the video to be made. Worth noting, as always when talking about it, that they’re basically paying for my time and not my opinions. A video like this takes between 2-3 days to make, I don’t take notes or talking points from a company on their gear and I don’t show them a cut ahead of release. No brand has any say or sway on the content I make, my feelings on their gear, or how I showcase it on the channel.
