Preinstalled antivirus. But any antivirus software only removes the already known/generic viruses. If you're actually targeted by a blackhat if they are able to install a virus on your PC it won't be detectable by MS antivirus or any antivirus software out there.
@User you find the file yourself, or have an IT tech look at it and once the file is discovered then it can be removed and reported Incase there are duplicates out there the antivirus softwares can then remove them

@@kingyasin7657Not very much, I recommend you McAfee or Karspersky, they are very good options in the market, but if you use it for activities like gaming and all that, I think that you can stay with Defender (final decision is yours).
Edit: Nod32 is also a very good option, anyways stay safe from SPAM emails, rare websites, shared files, cracks/keygens and a large list. As a recommendation, do not EVER download VBS/EXE/BAT & etc executable files, atleast they’re official files from licensed and reliable companies. Even by visiting a page, you can be infected under a second. Hope this serves, and be safe!
I recommend using a full scan instead. While quick scan is useful, it only scans the most vulnerable files. While full scan takes longer, you play it safer.
From my experience, I did a quick scan. I found nothing. I did a full scan and I found a threat.

1 - press Windows+R
2 - enter "mrt" and click enter
3 - allow the malicious software detector to run as administrator

Can confirm as an ICT Technician, how ever this is not the best malware removal method, would suggest using both windows defender and Malwarebytes.
Yh, my pc got affected by win64 expiro. It was unable to detect and remove it so I had to reinstall windows.

This method will only work for viruses that your already pre-installed antivirus knows very well, which is very few. Imagine getting a virus which the developer made specifically to not be in antivirus' database.

Theres no point in doing that its same as windows defender, find yourself some great antivirus like malwarebytes, and no there is no "10 seconds" scanning you will just end up with unfinished scanning or probably not even detecting the virus

This worked for me as I deleted the defender and the virus not letting me to go to the settings and I wasn't able to connect to the wifi but using this now I'm able to use my new laptop thanks u brother

Normal scan : dont try it cuz gonna take 10~15 mins
Stronge scan : do it when u want to sleep (over 8 hours for 70% hardsick usable)

Step 5. Choose between the many riveting options such as "Quick Scan, Full Scan and Custom Scan" A scan is like an xray!

Step 7. If it says threat found remove or pause the file.

We did that to my old phone because littlery apps just started popping up

The fact is that if your computer virus is too dangerous then it wont even allow you to open any window so you wont be able to open the run command window and type mrt for a scan so its useless
I agree with you but-
There are multiple points to consider-
1- viruses are of different types- trojans,
Malwares, keymappers, ransomwares etc. Are made to get some important info out of your PC and a known fact that they try to go detected (and let you open applications) you can easily get rid of them with an antivirus
2-lets say that the virus was made to destroy your computer or it's a ransomware what most would recommend is f*ck your hard drive get a new one reset/reflash you hardware and continue to use your pc(these cases are less than the ones discussed in point 1 hence this short is in fact useful)

My PC is as good as trash. It’s a fancy gaming laptop my father got me so I don’t wanna throw it away. It’s broken a lot. It’s Keyboard LEDs are broken, it’s unable to connect to the internet by itself (it needs an extension device), the mouse pad doesn’t work, and it’s very slow compared to its prime. I’m pretty sure it has a pesky virus that I’ve never been able to shake off. And the piece of metal to the right of the mouse pad is like it’s Achilles heel, sometimes if I put any pressure on it (such as resting my arm there) the entire screen goes static glitchy.
