It makes me happy that all of you watch my channel. I'm just an old dude who likes old cars. Really don't have any other hobbies other than this, but hey, it keeps me out of trouble. Thanks again for supporting my channel
Great to see the beasty getting some love, Bill. Whatever you do to it is going to make it better and if it turns out that you don't want to, then whoever gets it is going to have a pretty darn good starting point. Man, underneath that thing was such a surprise for me! Yeah, there's surface rust and scale and the front floors are shot and the doors need time to put right properly, but she's not a basket case.....which is what I expected to see. I felt for sure the subframes, spring hangers, floors, inner and outer rockers, trunk / gas tank bottom and lower quarters / valances would have succumbed to the sodden environment it sat in - I mean it was IN the ground in places, not just ON it! The fact it moves under its own power and doesn't fall in half is not much short of a miracle and what it DOES have for rust isn't completely terminal. The cowl / firewall area - yeah, ok, that's it's scariest bit because you never know how much is left of the inner structure until the outer structure comes off. I wondered about removing the glove box and (off camera!) going upside down under the dash with a torch and have a poke around. However, I'm built on pretty "generous" lines myself and going upside down under a dash isn't something I can easily do without taking out the front seats and a whole lot of swearing, so I'd understand if it wasn't your first choice to do that! I wondered whether you could be lucky enough to be able to do a patch from the inside and one on the outside and that's all she needs....or maybe an easier way to do it would be by cutting more of the outer cowl panel away than really needed to poke at / fix the inner one without taking it all to bits. I know Murphy's Law doesn't work that way, so if it was MY car, I'd basically have to strip the thing to its component parts to fix it, but I hope you get a nice surprise. I really like that car and she might not be worth a huge dollar at the end of the day, but she's a rarity and if they get hauled out the bushes looking that good after 28 years, they deserve to be given another chance, I reckon. As to time of video? Yeah, some channels have been banging out sagas longer than the 1997 version of 'Titanic", which, at 3hrs 23 mins, was hard enough to sit through. In saying that, anything up to an hour and a half is an easy watch. I've also watched a couple that went just over two hours that seemed to just fly by - as did this particular vid of yours at just 40-odd minutes - so it must be to do with the way the content is delivered as well as the subject matter. Make 'em how you're comfortable with making them, mate. Today's stopping point was a good one if the next video is still going to be over an hour long to cover all that is going to be done, but if it only ends up at 30 mins, that's cool too. Great to see you out in the garage again - even if it is a little frosty in there. I'm sitting here in shorts and a singlet with the doors wide open and the fans blowing! Abut time that big yellow thing paid us a visit anyway.... All the best!
It's always great to hear from you. I truly appreciate your comments! I'm going to try to save this one. It will just have to be after I finish our 68 Mustang and my 71 Torino. But I think it's worth keeping. The cowl will probably have to be replaced, but I'll get to it. I now have a line on a 68 fastback Mustang. May have to look into that one too. I'm jealous you're in shorts. Hopefully, I'll be back in them soon. The area I live in is supposed to be warmer than it is. Thanks so much again for your comment. Next video should be up in 2 weeks.
Another great video! Myself I enjoy either long videos or lots of videos coming out one after the other over a shorter period of time. Car repair videos are like therapy for me.
So glad you enjoy them. To make an hour video, I have about 4 to 5 hours of footage that I cut up to make something that interesting. Honestly the filming and editing take way longer than the actual repairs 😆 I actually have the car driving. Just not the time to get the videos together. When I heat up the brake line like you did , I always have a spray bottle of water. Spray water on the hot parts and then the nut should crack loose without distorting the line or the nut . Falcon is a parts car or just patch and drive... Your Torino GT needs the time and money. My .02 cents
Yep, I'm definitely moving on my 71 Torino. Just going to get this falcon running and on the back burner
Just my opinion, but wasn't this car forgotten? You do whatever you want it's better to at least run and be functional than to not exist anymore! Just my opinion!
Think my plan is to get it driving and put it on the back burner until I get my daughter's mustang and my 71 torino finished. I just needed this car to get out of my front yard 😆
Forty five minutes ten hours plenty long enough thirty minutes is a little too short
Thanks!
Way too much yakking and not enough work getting done. I'm out!
Sorry to see ya go. Thanks for watching what you did.
Keep going!!!!
Will do!
