I just scoured marketplace and Craigslist and couldn’t find a roller with no trans or motor for 3500 that had complete panels / wheels and pan. Cheapest running / driving complete el Camino (any year) 7000 lol😂
Man stone it seemed like u were just getting comfortable. More and more we would hear you pipe in with a funny quip and the metal work is great. If u gotta go all the best
Perfect episode! Nascar motors and V12s are fun, but my favorite thing about this channel is how you guys aren't afraid of rust and snow! That moment when Stone says "Is that a covered bridge?!" 😃 speaks to something deep in all of us. Reminded me of days when school was cancelled for snow, and my friends and I would all go out rip donuts in empty parking lots.
All this focus on Stone... Barb, we still love ya, baby. Props to you guys working in that cold. As a teen in Pennsylvania I ended up with frostbite on both hands, and that killed many of the capillaries - my hands just can't work in that cold anymore.
I just love knowing that somewhere in Pennsylvania there's down and dirty, rowdy, old school, kick ass hot rodding going on! It just does my heart good. You, Freiburger, Finnegan and Dulcich have inspired me to get back into it, so thank y'all! Another comment for the algorithm.
Back in the early 90s I picked up a 75 Malibu classic Grandma car. 350 turbo 400. Built the motor and that thing was a blast. Got into more trouble with that car than I wish to admit. Brought back some great memories and everyone at that time hated those cars. Mine was a100% rust free super clean and it was under 1k. Wish I never sold sold it. Thank y'all and keep up the great work.
I still think they suck. But I lived through the era when those ugly smog dogs were what Detroit was offering to all of us who were used to the true 60’s - early 70’s muscle cars. And we all pretty much gave a middle finger to Detroit and never bought on of those turds.
Agree with ya 100%. After owning a few Camino's: 70, 71 & 72 back in 85-90) I wouldn't go anywhere near the 73 and newer Camino's (not my thing). Tony has great energy and that's why I am watching it. A saved classic is all that matters!
They aren't Malaise Era, they were Smog Era, The Smog Era was from 73-77, the Malaise Era was 78-85. The difference is Electronic ignition being standard, which happened in the 78 model year.

Kahn on King of the Hill says “an ElCamino isn’t a car, it is a way of life.” I think most car enthusiasts my age know what an El Camino is, at least if you are from SoCal these were pretty iconic in the 80s and early 90s. The car you’ve never heard of is the GMC Sprint, it looks like an El Camino, but has GMC badging instead of Chevy. I may have seen more than one, but only remember seeing one and thinking it was odd that it had sprint badges instead of El Camino badges.
I've seen a couple of Sprints over the years, but GMC I remember fondly is the 77+ "New A"/G body GMC Caballero. It was super odd sitting in a G body interior with a GMC badge on the wheel! I learned how to drive in a 305 powered Caballero on gravel roads. That gutless 305 feels like it's got a thousand horses when there's no traction! 🤣

I had a '73 El Camino in the ugliest brown, complete with rust holes behind the rear wheels. Back in the mid 90s, I bought it for $300. Got a complete interior from the local junkyard for $40, drove it everywhere, across the USA from CO to PA and back, and sold it for $900. One of the most fun cars I owned, mostly because it scared the hell out of people. It'd chirp the tires shifting from 1st to 2nd. So much fun. Fantastic there's still some out there getting the love they deserve :)
I love the 74 El Camino! It's shape is so beautiful. My mom bought one new and we still have it. It is a non-SS 454 car, rust free, and original. Thank you for the content on one of these!

I'm with T.A. on this body style, great looking cars from that by gone era. Nice work, guys!
love el caminos and love the colonnade cars. one of the best parts of these is how huge the wheelwells are - you can fit 295s on all 4 corners with ease.
This episode put a big smile on my face but "Never heard of"? Who's never heard of an el Camino? Even non-car people know what they are! I love 'em. It's like having a Chevelle that you can fetch parts in. I've got two now ('71 SS454, T400, 12 bolt Posi and '68 327, 4 speed). I'll admit was not a huge fan of post '72 but this gen is starting to grow on me too. I recently saw one with aluminum slots and 275/60's on all four corners and with the huge flared fenders, it looked really cool. I think all years are under valued too. My '71 is worth less than half of what a comparable Chevelle would sell for. I keep my eye out for any that are for sale because I think someday as Chevelles get crazy prices, these cars will come up. I think I'll look for a /74 tp '76 now too.
HELLO TONY 👋 I owned a 73 Cutlass Supreme with the 454. That was an AWESOME CAR, and I agree 👍 that they are an underrated and overlooked Beast of a mode of transportation 😅
Stone just fits the vibe. Gonna miss him for sure. I hope he does well in his next chapter of life. The TH-cam thing is not for everyone. A lot of times it’s a lot of work for future potential results.
Stone, you're never going to have a better boss! I know we're all chasing money but I've learned the hard way, sometimes its not worth it. Best of luck in you're new endeavors...never forget the coolest guy you ever worked for 👍👍👍
Tony and Barb are great bosses and even better Dads! Ultimately, the decision came done to I have friends and family that rely on my for help with their lives and also their HOT RODS!!! And they can't just hire a new person like the Stay Tuned crew. Late shop nights and 10+hrs of overtime every week were really taking away from me being able to help others, and that is worth a lot more to me than the money. Just remember, "Eat a pizza pie, or you'll die!" Pizza squad for life 🤘🙏
@@stoneharleysheetzStone good on you for figuring that out early. I’m lucky that my wife of 38 years will still punch my reset button when I get too deep playing with cars. Find that work, family, car life, fun balance. Best of everything to you!

OMG you guys! My first car was a 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic. 350V8, TH350, 2 barrel. I got in some trouble with that car. I was the oldest and a first car with a V8 wasn't in the cards for my sister. She got a crappy Ford Escort. I miss that car, wish I had one, same year. My wife is not a fan of the El Caminos but I love them. Great episode you guys. Brought of a lot of memories of cruising in high school with my core friends. Whatever car we were in, we all ponied up for the gas and snacks. I destroyed the transmission from N to D burn outs and sold the car. Last I heard it was being converted into a race car. This was in 1987. I really enjoyed this video!
I’ve always loved El Caminos. My name is Earl turned me on to the 73 era, and Ryan Goseling made me love the Malibu. I had an 80, and a 65, and they’re amazing.
Loved Terry Bradshaw & Mel Tillis' 1976 Chevy Laguna in The Cannonball Run, cool cars and thanks for disclosing the price, can't stand when the money end is kept secret.
I can't see shit can you? No problem son, no problem. Car plunges into the pool. I got to meet Terry Bradshaw at the true value market for products for our store several years ago in Chicago
@@RaiderX948 what's funny is, in person, he was the same. The dinner gathering after the product showcase etc, I randomly looked at him, held up my beer, and asked you get bee? He held his up and said plenty. I then held up a small piece of my food and asked food? And he held up a smaller piece of his steak and replied plenty, and we ha a good laugh. My wife was of course confused lol. I did get him to sign my DVD copy of cannonball run. He's just as laid back in person which was refreshing.
My Dad's first car was a 1973 Chevelle Laguna (with the cool '73 only molded front end) in pretty much that same maroon color. Sure don't see many, but the '73-'77 A-bodies are still a sweet niche! Looking forward to seeing more of this Elco!
@@kerrylewis2581I’ve heard of a ‘swivel’ option for seats but never seen what it refers to. Does it mean that the seat frame is able to swivel for entrance/ exit? Or I’ve heard swivel buckets before and assumed it was seats.
Years ago when my son was going to buy his first car i told i will help you with any one you decide on except an el camino. Its my least favorite car on the planet by far. He ended up with a ws6 trans am that we got a deal on. Great episode non the less Tony. Keep them coming!
At 26, Stone is one fandy hucker, and he will be missed for certain! In spite of those fugly old bumpers, I was always of the opinion that those A bodies were cool lookin vehicles. Watchin you sliding around snowy roads brings a memory to mind. 3 friends were in, 5 of us went skiing, 0 temps, 4wd pickup w/topper, 3 in back, shortcut because so cold, I was powersliding all the way home. All said it was the most exciting ride they ever had! I knew that truck, and I knew that shortcut!
I'm so glad you are doing this project now. I have someone to check out and get inspiration from. Because at the moment, my motivation depleted at the moment
The reason we like utes in australia so much is that they are a regular car underneath, nothing like a pickup truck, but they are a tiny little 2 seater sports car type cab so they just feel awesome to be in. elcos should be way more popular than they are!
They're extremely popular, only ones you can really find for sale nowadays are these 73-77s where I live. Even the gbodies are hard to find now (my first car, wish id kept it). I see an el camino on the freeway about once every 2-3 weeks probably and know about 10 parked around the city where I live. More likely to see an El Camino on the road than any other classic in my experience. Don't even see old Ford trucks much anymore
I'm so stoked to see a 4th gen Camino on the channel! I own a 77. Great cars. I noticed that car has AC under the hood but a non-AC dash. So the interior was probably swapped in. No way was that thing originally green with maroon interior! Headliner is off-white still.
Hey, Stone! Best wishes in everything you!!❤👍 And, Tony. I recall you having an affair with another El Camino ice racing & oiling down a track with ATF!!😳 Hope you have better luck with this one!!👍🙏🙏
Several years ago, my Father-in-law was building a hotrod and we pulled a 454 out of a 74 Laguna to put in it. Completely stock, that low end torque was amazing.
Stone was great for the channel. Didn’t try to take up the camera. Likable personality when he was. Worked his ass off and did the work well. Good luck to him with his future endeavors. Stone I’ve got a 74 Vega that’s turning into a pro street clone of my dad old pro stock car from the 70’s. Kinda the style like Tony’s firebird. If you got any pointers hit me up!
After becoming paralyzed from the chest down after a motorcycle accident, and a history of Mitsubishi AWD Turbo cars, I bought a restomod 1986 El Camino with an LS1 and built 700r4. Installed a hoist in the bed and hand controls. Loved it. Favorite car ever. Rear ended someone 5 years ago. I'm FINALLY replacing it with a Holden Ute very very soon.
Would be sooo cool to have a custom dsm, with a custom wheel chair that would just slide in place of the drivers seat. It would require a lot of anamation kinda like that cyber punk car build.... Either way, im glad to see your still in the drivers seat.
Definitely watching this episode with my kids! My sons, 19 & 14 years old, have been watching for these cars on Marketplace because they love the movie Drive. All 3 of us are car nuts, we currently have my 67 Chevelle, my 19 year old’s S13 Coupe we restored in a small wheel style build, and my 14 year old has an FC we’re just starting on that we plan to keep rotary powered. Love everything you guys are doing on the channel!! Good Luck with everything Stone, gonna miss ya!!
Watching you guys bomb around in the snow gave me serious early 90s Midwest winter nostalgia. It was like I was riding around with grandpa swinging corners on a snow day again. Awesome episode!
It sucks that Stone is moving on but upwards and onwards( or vice versa, not sure the exact phrase) Zach was great, Stone was bad ass, hope you keep up your streak of great meshing personalities 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Good luck Stone!!!!!!
I've been a Chevy man for most of my life although my first car was a 54 Ford convertible that I loved next was my blazer than my El Camino. I love that truck car whatever you want to call it and finally I got a brand new 68 Chevelle I'm very very anxious watching you put together they El Camino I was born in Pennsylvania. Moved to Arizona at age 12 to 13. Love your show man.
@36:24 Thank You Tony! I was beginning to loose faith in mechanics on TH-cam. People have forgotten about moving the plug wires over one spot or the other. Watched a guy wrestle a distributer in and out 6 times trying to time his engine on here the other day. Either people don't teach younger guys this trick anymore, or they just don't think about it. A lot easier than pulling the distributor.
Gonna miss you Stone, hope you're successful in whatever you do. Tooling around in that El Camino reminded me of riding around in the 1970 Caprice 4 door with sm blk 400 and TH400 transmission (0-60 in 7 secs flat, posi rear end, dual exhaust in a 4800lb car). 0-80 in snow while actually only moving 20mph was a common thing, my stepdad was a hot rodder at heart. Same thing in the '72 Caprice with same setup, split pea soup green (the '70 started life with that color, got repainted marina blue on top side after someone smacked us, only got enough money to paint the outside skin, inside door frames, under trunk and hood lids stayed green, kind of a Seahawks car without trying).
I was just thinking the other day about one of my favorite roadkill episodes with Tony and Finnegan & the snow racing El Camino!!! This is awesome keep em coming Tony!!!
I'm going to miss Stone. I hope we see him again soon

I think all years are under valued too. My '71 is worth less than half of what a comparable Chevelle would sell for. I keep my eye out for any that are for sale because I think someday as Chevelles get crazy prices, these cars will come up. I think I'll look for a /74 tp '76 now too.
Stone was a good shophand, hope your next one is just as good
Good luck Stone!
Sad to see you go Stoney you've been a great addition to the family of wrenchers!
Great endeavors for your future and please visit Tony!👍
OMG ..I bought a brand new 1974 Malibu back in the day with a 400 SB. Same color !!!! Love it !!
Good luck Stone!
I had an 80s version and it was the perfect drift machine. Was so much fun to drive, had a lot of good times in it.
Stone you will be missed a lot! you made the show that much better! Take care, find God in all you do.
God bless and Godspeed my friend 🤘🙏
Will definitely miss Stone. Best of luck in your endeavors man! Stay Tuned still one of the best out there keep bringing the thunder to the east coast baby.
NOt lying Gonna miss that guy Stone. Good Luck to you Young Brother.
I can't imagine why anyone would ever leave Stay Tuned. Dream job!
Take care Stone. Hope to see you again soon!
I’ve always loved El Caminos. My name is Earl turned me on to the 73 era, and Ryan Goseling made me love the Malibu. I had an 80, and a 65, and they’re amazing.
Also have to admit that movie Drive sold me on those cars 😂
Loved Terry Bradshaw & Mel Tillis' 1976 Chevy Laguna in The Cannonball Run, cool cars and thanks for disclosing the price, can't stand when the money end is kept secret.
I can't see shit can you? No problem son, no problem. Car plunges into the pool. I got to meet Terry Bradshaw at the true value market for products for our store several years ago in Chicago
@@williamsinger4124 Wish they still made movies like that, when people didn't take themselves so seriously and had fun.
I love these! I had a '74 and '77 Chevelle. They look so good slammed with big tires. The seat belt interlock is the best security system ever.
My Dad's first car was a 1973 Chevelle Laguna (with the cool '73 only molded front end) in pretty much that same maroon color. Sure don't see many, but the '73-'77 A-bodies are still a sweet niche!
Looking forward to seeing more of this Elco!
Hell yea, thanks for watching!
A girlfriend had a Laguna with swivel buckets. Nice car
@@kerrylewis2581I’ve heard of a ‘swivel’ option for seats but never seen what it refers to. Does it mean that the seat frame is able to swivel for entrance/ exit? Or I’ve heard swivel buckets before and assumed it was seats.
@@udonenomee2117Yes the seat would swivel outward for easy exit and entrance. Really was a neat option.
Years ago when my son was going to buy his first car i told i will help you with any one you decide on except an el camino. Its my least favorite car on the planet by far. He ended up with a ws6 trans am that we got a deal on. Great episode non the less Tony. Keep them coming!
No Australian is surprised UTEs are MINT
They sure are!
Great for drag & drive events.
26?! Not for another 16 day! 😅 I'm not ready to be old!!!
That’s awesome! Videos like this drive the price of shit boxes sky high! 😂 I love it!
I had a 76 GMC Sprint in High School. It's the El Camino equivilent. It had a 250 straight six.
I'm glad I had it, but now I'm so glad it's gone.
Hell Yes finally Some 73-77 Luving from @Stay TunedTA guys gals I'm building a 1977 Chevelle SE. I Love this episode ABSOLUTELY
Hell yea, that's what's up!
I'm so glad you are doing this project now. I have someone to check out and get inspiration from. Because at the moment, my motivation depleted at the moment
I had 2...one with a laguna nose peice....loved them
Hell yea, that rules!
Good luck, Stone 👍 🎉
Awesome, sorry to see Stone go, he was just coming out of his shell, all the best!
You and Finnegan should take that thing ice racing for good old times
I'm so stoked to see a 4th gen Camino on the channel! I own a 77. Great cars.
I noticed that car has AC under the hood but a non-AC dash. So the interior was probably swapped in. No way was that thing originally green with maroon interior! Headliner is off-white still.
Hey, Stone! Best wishes in everything you!!❤👍 And, Tony. I recall you having an affair with another El Camino ice racing & oiling down a track with ATF!!😳 Hope you have better luck with this one!!👍🙏🙏
Car Truck whatever you wanna call it has a killer profile & the front & back are OK. I love it. 👍🇺🇸
This is one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. Great work boys.
Thanks so much for watching!
Several years ago, my Father-in-law was building a hotrod and we pulled a 454 out of a 74 Laguna to put in it. Completely stock, that low end torque was amazing.
You got a proper ute!!! Bewdy, mate 🤘🤠🤘🇦🇺
Ps. I had an all original 73 vega wagon 4 speed with only 30k miles! I miss that car so much!!!!!
@jasonschreiber6458 My Silverado has just this, I drive from my chair. A DSM is too short, but I could see a DSM or Evo in my future!!
Good luck stone, be proud you were a part of the best of TH-cam 🎉
I love those years brother!!! All of them. Malibu Elco's Cutlass all of them!!!
They are the unsung heroes for sure!
What frame? That thing is made of Swiss cheese 😂
@ChristopherJohnston-t5z ROFLMFAO!!!! LIGHTENING For DRAG RACING ROFLMFAO!!!!
Always look forward to “Stay tuned” videos.
I feel like Stone was just getting comfortable in front of the camera.
Good bye Stone, good luck and enjoy life.
Watching you guys bomb around in the snow gave me serious early 90s Midwest winter nostalgia. It was like I was riding around with grandpa swinging corners on a snow day again. Awesome episode!
It sucks that Stone is moving on but upwards and onwards( or vice versa, not sure the exact phrase) Zach was great, Stone was bad ass, hope you keep up your streak of great meshing personalities 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good luck Stone!!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
@ I still have the matching blue hood for your C5 whenever you come close to Mooresville NC.
Pour some gears in Stone. Epic. You guys need to put that on a shirt. Good luck Stone. Love how you guys really embody the spirit of hot rodding.
gonna miss ya Stone!
Im gonna miss you guys too 😭
Stone your the man just subscribed to your channel!!!
Gonna miss Stone.
I just bought my grandfathers ‘86 383 stroker SS Elco from the estate and I absolutely love that car.
Let's hear it Pizza Squad 🍕!!!! Go Birds 🦅
GO BIRDS!
Gotta take that thing to the freedom factory!
That was Stone crazy.
Adios Stone, you've been a great asset to the channel. Wishing you the best in your new adventure! PS: Tony nice el co.
Love El Co's, this should be awesome! Let's go!
Let's GOOOOO!
Take it easy Stone! Thanks for the time spent.
Hell yeah let's go love the el co's
THEY RULE!
My wife called them Elcamareo and would NOT let me get one.
Hm. Ironically never used the Camaro frame/front end on any generation! My wife made me get an 85 conquista. She loves em
What a sick car. Love a nice El Camino. Great way to start my Friday evening! Keep it up Tony
Hell yea, thanks for watching!
@@StayTunedTA Also Stone has been such a great fit for the channel! Fits right in with the boys.
Ahhhhh man the El Caminos are just awesome in a weird way. All the best in your future endeavors Stone!!!! May the beard prosper!!!!
Thanks for bringing your beard to the show, Stone! Best of luck to you and whatever is ahead of you!
Dude, you are an animal and I love how your brain works! Sorry to see Stone go, he was a great addition to the crew.
I was just thinking the other day about one of my favorite roadkill episodes with Tony and Finnegan & the snow racing El Camino!!! This is awesome keep em coming Tony!!!
Bro I live like 30 minutes from Allentown and always checking market place. I cant believe you scored this gem.
