As an Xperia 1 VI user I can confirm that it's better to buy at a grand than at full price. But I enjoyed my time with the phone. Took more photos than I ever did before. The jack saves me on multiple occasions and the card and SIM slot is easy and tooless. So I could transfer photos to my PC without needing to find a sim ejector. This is also the first phone I'd hadn't installed GCAM on, cause I never felt like I needed too. But cause I use 1 colour profile from standard. Battery life is excellent but cause of FHD+ screen. There's of course a lot of flaws but compared to the time I use it less as an smartphone and more of a tool on multiple occasions, safe to say this is my most versatile smartphone to date. Maybe next year they'll slap a bigger sensor on the zoom but that's cause I'm a heavy telephoto user 😂.
You like the more punchy colours. Switch the Xperia 1 VI to VV which is vivid colours instead of having the default natural colours. Sony had a real pro app camera suite. 1 VI went away from it but the Pro Photo mode is still available and good. The video pro mode should land with Android 15. Sony is a true flagship it is beating Xiaomi with software updates. You get a monthly update which is not true for Xiaomi. Yeah the new red version of the Xperia and pricing is ridiculous. Still the phone is pretty solid. Only thing I can criticize is the tele zoom camera. Sensor is too small and noisy in not bright enough conditions. UWide has more than 16mm if you shoot RAW which gives you 14mm. Yeah not ideal but hey its a Pro phone and if you need a wider field shoot Pro and JPEG+RAW.
Well said, a phone that claims to have a pro camera, should give you the natural look for thier standard mode, and leave the other options for you aswell, another issue I see with reviewers reviewing the xperia camera, is when they compare the video quality with other smartphones like iphone for example, and then claim that sony has poor hdr while comparing it on standard, while the iphone has hdr on all the time, but sony has it off by standard. Keeping the hdr on as standard or always on, and colors always punchy and vivd, or making the image over sharpened is not so pro after all, you cannot undo what's already done. And that's what sony is avoiding and keeping them optional.
Got the Sony 1 VI for 1000€ from wonda (before your store launched) and I definitely wouldn't go for a Xiaomi. Their cameras might be good on paper, but their software ruin it by overprocessing, oversharpening, overexposing, oversaturating (thank you apple for setting "the standard") (yes I chose A) Price in the video is not really comparable either, I have the 512gb version +512gb sd card (expandable to 2tb) for that price, 14t pro 512gb is ~900€, while 1tb is over a thousand €. Fast charging/wireless charging? 1vi has 30w but I still use 10w 99% of the time, it's terrible for battery health to fast/wireless charge it especially while using it. That's why on Sony you can even use the cable to power the components but not use battery while gaming Now about the very popular 4k "downgrade" from 1V. I can't stress enough how useless 4k displays are on phones unless you have bionic eyes or something, because of the pixel density the difference is barely noticeable even side by side, it's not a TV after all. now, battery life? amazing, because this ltpo panel is veeery efficient it lasts me 2 days and I'm the definition of a power user. also 4000 nits brightness? where did that number come from, on gsmarena 14t pro is measured at max 1228nits. Now, something Sony has that 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 has? (hell, most phones nowadays either way) sd card + headphone jack. It's very important for some people that want to shoot pro mode pics and vids to have an sd card or high speed external ssd (which it supports since it has usb 3.2 while 14t pro has only 2.0) also, I love that it has a side mounted fingerprint sensor on the power button. I don't even have to press it, just unlocks while I pick up my phone. Way better than one under display, or FaceID
@@jevonsims900 Not really. Sony is making enthusiast phones. They don't care about sales. They make their money from other ventures, if they didn't they'd stop making phones a long time ago.

I think Sony just needs to give more love to their smartphone devision, it's like they don't care about it and only doing it because they have some spare time to kill

Btw, many brands out there are using Sony Sensors, also Apple. But the Apple one also looks more vibrant. You are mixing up stuff here.
Ive been using Xiaomi 14T (Non-Pro) for a month now, and they are freaking good. I havent had any experience in lag and crashing issues. Its just freaking smooth. My photos are all great and I thought it was taken from a DSLR cam because of the portrait with Leica effect results. Xiaomi did a good job with the 14T series.
I don't know, maybe there i something wrong with me but, I got returned s24 Ultra, i returned iPhone 16 pro Max, Honor Magic 6 Pro and bought Xperia 1 VI for 980EUR in sale. So far I really like the phone. Those talking about fullHD etc... on so small screen I dont see any difference while using it with S24 Ultra set to QHD. I have in average 4 days (with 7h SOT during this time) which is MEGA. For day to day usage, phone is really comfortable, well build, amazing for music lovers who appreciate high quality audio. Camera is one and only in smartphones which is as close to mirrorless camera quality as possible (not everyone appreciate it though). I like that photos are not overprocessed and phone is not making day from night. So far after 3weeks of usage, in general I do like the phone.
I have been a big Sony fan since 40+ years ago. I stuck with more than a dozen Sony smartphones until the unreasonably expensive Pro I. Most of them pissed me one way or the other. The fingerprint sensor finally made me switch to Samsung, then Chinese phones. It worked fine for a while. Then it worked sometimes and did not work sometimes. Imagine my frustration while doing online banking which required fingerprint sensor authorization. I am still a big fan of Sony. If one day they make a really good phone, I'll go back to Sony. But I think it is much more likely Sony will stop making phones.
I had an Xperia Z2 many years ago and another mid-tier lime green Sony phone (I can't remember the model). I experienced camera overheating and power button jamming issues after two years with both of these Sony phones. And for some reason, i cant get myself to like their UI. It just feels off.
Long time SONY user just for the colors but for this test I will go with true LEICA colors in Xiaomi 14T Pro as well as night performance. I purchased the phone for these very reasons.
I don't really care about charging speed since I mostly charge overnight anyway. And I'm sure the display is fine. What's not fine and not okay for a $1,000+ phone is 3 years of software support.
Using an Xperia 1V (Not VI) and a Magic V3 Global as my daily driver. (Also an iPhone 15Pro as my car GPS). Overall, photos as great on the Xperia, but otherwise everything on the V3 blows the Xperia away. Phone get hot pretty easily, and there are many occasions where I cannot turn on the camera. There are easily more customizations on the V3, plus I had the Xperia gone to repair twice due to water damage. The zoom camera on the Xperia is just plain awful. I think SD card is the saving grace for Xperia.
It is hard to find another phone with fingerprint sensor on the side (for me it is better than on screen), headphone jack and sd card slot. That's why I would take the Sony. The camera is bad in Auto mode but will be much better if you know how to take pictures.

Sony colors look more natural. Sony tends to lift the shadows, this may not be to everyone's liking. At 7.50, one can see the limit of the zoom, Sony easily wins. BTW, there is no OIS in the telephoto of Xiaomi. If I must buy one it is going to be a XM because of $
Watching this on the Xperia with 10h sot and still have battery and with a 1tb sd card... Probably will have 10h sot in 2 year after xiaomi has charged 3 more times then this.
