I'm one of the 40k fans that gw lost and will likely never get back. I started in on warmachines/hordes a while ago, and have had great interactions from privateer press. I once bought a unit that was missing parts at the local gaming shop. I contacted privateer press about it and they sent the parts quickly and free of charge. As long as they don't decide to go full moronic as gw has I will be happy to support them. It's good to see them get some attention.
I think it's important to note that the board game is NOT a new edition. The rules are identical to the 2018 version of the game. It's just a new way to package the game that's a LOT cheaper because Mythic has access to plastic manufacturing techniques that PP does not.
OH DANG! I think i’ve seem brief glimpses of this art before but never knew the details of this game! This looks incredible!!! I’ll shirk Warhammer in a heartbeat for channels focused on monsterpocalypse pfftt!!!
Great job on the retrospective. I got the starter pack and a few figures at San Diego Comic Con some time between 2010-2012. As much as I loved the game, I rarely played it since none of my friends were into table top games. Still, it’s great to see it back and more popular than ever. I think if they had a digital version of the game (similar to card-based video games) that could make Monsterpocalypse more accessible to those outside the medium. As for the movie, I read somewhere that the producers delayed it because they wanted to wait and see how Pacific Rim would perform since it had a similar premise of mechs vs monsters. Given how PacRim underperformed in America, I’m sure that’s what gave them cold feet and ultimately abandon the project. Though I can only imagine how a Tim Burton-led giant monster movie would turn out.
As a note, the reason the Tim Burton movie didn't happen isn't because the director "gave up"; the studio behind Pacific Rim bought the rights to the MP film in order to bury their potential competitor. The company admitted this after the NDA expired.
Never got into the game, but I've always been kinda fascinated by the different creatures and factions and such. Some neat designs going on. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll actually bother to try playing the thing.
I've got a bunch of the 2008 version in storage boxes. Tritons as good guys is strange since they were once allied to the Martian Menace. Cthulhu is public domain but they made up new monsters in his likeness. But then after that they called one of the Triton monsters Dagon anyway. In the genre of Kaiju games King of Tokyo got a teaser at Essen Spiel that a third game in the line is coming out. Not a 2nd edition or Dark Edition but a new sequel game such as King of New York.
2:43. Heroclix killed the market via overinflation. If they had stopped treating their customers like ATM machines by spamming out sets every other month, they'd still be doing well. Also, 40k is very Grimdark. Battletech fits that feel better than Monsterpocalypse. Also, Battletech is very loose with faction mechs as well.
Fast forward to the Mythic Kickstarter for MonPoc and a lot of us can care less for Mythic and Privateer Press. I can not believe Privateer Press has not stepped in and at the very least made a huge statement on this matter. Mythic may have put the final nail in this coffin and Privateer Press looks like they could care less.
How did MonPoc straddle the line between original and licensed? Other than the single Voltron set, every single MP faction was original (if obviously homagey);they never licensed any of it apart from that one time.

I started collecting Warhammer 40k models a while ago, but due to the stuff with GW, I think I’m just going to stick with stuff from Black Library.

Honestly I'd like to hear your thoughts on the aesthetics/story of the individual factions sometime if at all possible.
You should talk about a game called War of the Monsters
I have come to love miniature games in recent years. This is one I’ll NEED to check out!

Same here

I would like more monsterpocalyose videos. Especially the abilities and how tall the kaiju mechs are

I actually do want to know more about this, I actually wanted to get into Monsterpocalypse but didn't know much about it

This game is inspirational I might not getting into it myself one day
More monpoc content wouldnt be a bad thing. There is a derth of content for it, so anything to add to the nearly nonexistent pile is good.

You should do a video on the King of the Monsters video games.
Any Plans on talking about the “Dino Riders” and its potential for a comeback?
I wish Attacktix would make a come back.
Serendipity indeed.
Hey Omni!
I'm from the future; it died.
Maybe you should do a crossover???? Like Operation Red Dragon x MONSTERPOCALYPSE??? Like give them a call maybe you can get an answer
Not my cup of tea but interesting. Art
2:26-2:28 Watch it bub, you know I don't take kindly to people who dislike the Disney remakes
