The BEST 2 Days of Hiking in Croatia: Northern Velebit National Park (CLDT Ep. 14)

- Northern Velebit National Park is the most stunning section of trail I have hiked yet in Croatia! It took me 2 days to hike from the information centre to Baske Ostarije. I was having the best time, the entire time!
This route is a popular hut to hut route in Croatia. You can stay at rustic unmanned huts, or at nicer huts with the ability to rent a bed, and buy food and drinks. I was happy to have a beer at Mountain Hut Alan.

Hi, thanks for posting this video! I'm planning on hiking about 30 miles / 50 km as an overnight, 2 day trip in Northern Velebit National Park in a couple weeks. I was wondering which section you'd recommend as the highlight within the park? Also curious if I need to bring.a sleeping bag / pad or if the huts have beds? Thanks so much!
Hi!! I think it might have been you who sent me a DM and I just responded. But I will also respond here for everyone to see! My favourite 50 km section was the north NP entrance at Babic Sica to Hostel Baske Ostarije. So so stunning!! And when I did look at the sleeping arrangements in huts in Croatia, it appeared that bringing your own pad and quilt/sleeping bag is a good idea.

Hi! Do you have any recs for groups that carry your things from place to place if you do a thru hike? We are visiting Europe - will have bags for our general vacation- but would love to do this route without our luggage!
Hey! Super excited for you! I haven’t personally ever used a service like that, so unfortunately I don’t have any personalized recommendations for you. But, I would recommend choosing the trail you want to do and then specifically researching people or companies that offer the service. Some hotels or hostels allow you to leave your luggage with them for a few days if you are going away for a hike like this and you could just bring a backpack.
You have hiked Croatia extensively and know Croatia we'll. I've about 4-5 days to do a trek. Which section would you recommend that I must absolutely do? Which is the most beautiful? Please suggest!
I loved this section in Northern Velebit National Park.. you could make it into a 4 day trip I think!
