i did a diy conversion on my T-Maxx. locked the gearbox in 2nd gear. Threw on a 2250KV motor and 150A ESC and a 20T pinion gear... I run it on 6s Lipo.... Thing is absolutely bonkers. I can barely keep the front wheels down on half throttle... :D
Wanna help a guy out? Just tell me what I need to buy/upgrade to convert my 3.3 to brushless. I just don’t have the time to do the research :( I’d consider a “consulting” fee for helping.
You could leave everything alone and mount up an electric motor utilizing reverse on your 3rd channel. It would be fun to see this as a 2 speed with a motor fast enough to speed up to shift but Nathan is super cheap and his kids have bashed the heck out of it in it's slow form. He is even using 12v lithium batteries from a drill.
It's holding the transmission in forward gear being you don't need a reverse gear with electric. Eliminating a whole servo. You could get an Emaxx tranny but you might as well buy an Emaxx at that point. Being they are so affordable.

I just ordered that same exact motor mount from eBay. Two actually just in case I do something stupid and break one. It looks like a really good design using the original holes in the chassis to mount it. I'll probably go 4 cell after testing it out on two cell.
seriously thats how fast it only goes??? thats shit.very slow cant it go any better? and do you have to do something to the drive chain???? all that cost and effot for that??great so im stuck between shiot electric speed and non working nitro engine.great.anyone here know about the engines??
@@verdammtesarschlochs6148 I converted mine and it was super easy just used spare parts I had from my other electric cars. The speed will depend on a few things like gearing the kv of the motor the tire size and what cell count battery you use. I did mine just for the fun of it but it was worth it really easy to do.
Sorry for the late response. I tried replying to this on my phone a long ways from home and it would not post for some reason. The motor will have to spin fast enough for the forward gear clutch to engage. Also make sure it is securely in forward gear. Ours pops out a lot if there is wiggle room in the wire securing the selector rod in. Good safety wire is needed. If the motor is running backwards it probably won't go either because of the one way bearing so be sure of that also. Hope this helps.
Put a forward only kit and a single speed kit in the trans both kits together are like $25 they will turn the trans into a gear box it will work much better
Agree I have forward only, single speed, titan 12, 17t pinion. on 2s it does wheelies better than the original 2.5 motor and doesn't require messing with any tuning. Id say I'm getting 15 mph and it has the torque to drive thru the grass no problems
Well we didn't wanna ruin the forward reverse bell to lock 1st gear incase we wanted to reuse everything for nitro. There is no easy way to lock it without cramming epoxy in there. Also the brushed titan will not turn fast enough to hit second. The T-Maxx was torn apart several months ago to go back to nitro. It is not my truck so that's where it sits. Lol. Thanks for watching.
You should have tightened up the clutches till they barely moved usually yes you need to lose use them loose but when you convert to electric you need to tighten them up due to the difference in torque
Did you watch the whole video? The clutches on this that are slipping are as good as they are going to be without replacing them with something else. They aren't really adjustable. You can move the set screw that they rest on but anymore than they are now and the shoe will stick up too high to slide into the drum.
Who else in 2024 seen this video for first time ? I have one from a yard sale i picked up for 20.00 its a T Maxx 3.3 i wanted to know if it can be converted 😅 im just getting in to the hobby does not have receiver or body grear video
That is as good as it'll get with this motor. The slip clutch is not slipping. That is first gear. You gotta remember we have way way less power and less rpm with this titan motor. And forward and reverse are both clutches too. Please watch the whole video as this is explained.

A few more step by step instructions might help. Going from a disassembled transmission to a test mode, leaves some questions.

I used a piece of safety wire
U have the same setup if u lock the forward gear it’ll go faster then U can also adjust second to kick in faster

I just got one too. Been in the hobby for a while but needed a little guidance on where to start.
The frame is probably different being a 3.3. Mounting the motor would be the same. I need to get it out and put a brushless motor on it.
Bolt the slip clutch so it’s locked up all the time
