Thanks for the informative video, man! Just started riding a couple years ago and I've never been to Santiago Oaks. I like to nerd out on videos before I hit new trails.
Thanks for the video. Did you end up getting new brakes? As a fellow SoCal rider, I’ll recommend Hayes Dominion A4s for some of the gnarly descents we’ve got out here. I’m a big dude, so in addition to lever feel and modulation, stopping power is important to me. The Hayes are pricey but are easily the best brakes I’ve ever used. I’m running a 203mm rotor in the back with a giant 220mm out front. Cheers.
Appreciate it bro! I ended up with TRP DHR-EVO’s 203 front and rear. I was debating on getting the Hayes but chose the TRP’s. I’ve enjoyed them so far! Great consistency all day. I’ll definitely run Hayes on my next bike 🤘🏼
I felt the same way about my brakes. Went from some entry level Shimano's on my first bike to Level T SRAM brakes and was constantly going off the trail because of lack of stopping power... I upgraded to G2 RSC's with the HS2 rotors and I'm now having a much better time. How do you like your TRP's??
I’ve used G2’s on my previous bike and they were good! The rotors make a big difference too. The HS2’s are thicker so that helps with heating and overall power. The TRP’s have been better. Less pain in my hands. Also enjoy that they stay powerful all day. They don’t loose power. When your pads run out try putting in MTX Brake pads. Those have worked well!
im super down to hit this next time you are im on a sabbatical at the moment and just got a new full sus after selling my hard tail i dont have alot of endurance but im wiilling to ride to get there
@@LH1271 Nice! Did you guys like it? Definitely, you’re welcome to join! We might go this Sunday if it does not rain because It gets way too muddy when it rains. Do you have an Instagram? Follow me on there and I’ll message you when we go!
Idk..people say sram brakes aren't good..but I've had nothing but good braking from spam code R..I co.e from a moto background a d feel like they are really similar
I think it might be the amount of modulation they have compared to most other brakes out there such as Shimano, Hayes, TRP… etc. Those brakes don’t modulate as much as the SRAMs which might be the reason they get a lot of hate.
Trails are open for everyone at every level to ride. Stop the bitching, not everyone can go full speed on black diamond trails. I highly doubt you do any maintenance work on these trails

Glad you liked the video!! This is a fun place with a bit of everything. I like to do the same just to know what I’m getting into haha. Safe riding 🤘🏼
Good practice to watch videos before the ride of new trail. I do the same
Thanks for the video. Its been awhile since ive ridden those trails you rode so its nice to see what the trail conditions are
Appreciate it bro! 🙏🏼
The Oaks is a fun place if you're a beginner. Laguna canyon woods has a wider range of trails and is a lot funner
Hayes Dominion brakes for the win, bro! 💪🏽. Nice vid 🤙🏽
I heard lots of good things about those! I might just go for it lol 🤘🏼 Thank you bro! 😎
Great video bro 🤘🏾 can’t wait for the next one. Let’s catch a session soon 🤘🏾💀🤘🏾
Thank you brotha! Yes, definitely! I’ll hit you up 🤘🏼

A county pass is pretty cheap. $50 I guess and it is good for 12 months. Works at Aliso, Santiago Oaks, Laguna Canyon etc. fun loop
Oh nice! I’ll check that out! Thanks 🙏🏼
Does it work for willow staging area in laguna?
@@alabaster4263 I believe it does work, but I’m not 100% sure
Good stuff bro!
Thank you bro!! Much appreciated 🤘🏼 🙏🏼
very nice video of the local trail systems and sick bike! if you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?
Appreciate it! Thank you!
Yeah no problem, I work in optometry.
Great video and sound!!
Thank you! 🙏🏼 🤘🏼
Thanks for the video. I have been getting lost in Santiago Oaks and can't find the loop back. Do you have this path on Strava by any chance?
No problem! Yes here is the link to that ride. I started at the park and looped all the way back.

@@Oscar_Hdz awesome! Thank you…
@@Oscar_Hdz I rode the trail yesterday. the Hawk portion is really really tough.
@@fariximus8993 Yes, there’s some sketchy sections on that trail. Very technical!

You can park at the market also
Oh nice, I’ve never parked there. Which market? I usually park at the school or Irvine Regional.
Corner of Chapman and jamboree
Look for Taco Bell

What stem is that?
It’s a Yoshimura ENDH Stem. It can be used on pretty much any regular stem.

Alright, cheers dude 🤙
Yeah sram brakes can go straight into the garbage bin. I hated them too.
Definitely. I just installed the TRP DH-R Evos. So far tons better!
All that heavy breaking creates all those brake bumps.
