    Thanks to Squarespace for making this video possible, along with The Watch Movement for providing the cringe mobile ad clip; you can check out his work here: th-cam.com/channels/nuViqRaK2ZB045D34CbeqA.html
    For anyone wondering about the advert audio - I was forced to try and isolate to vocals from the bgm, in order to avoid potential false copyright strikes on the channel (so, it's a bit muffled). Thanks, Ben

    A brand like MVMT/Vincero aren't good value for money, but if someone wants to pay too much for a Chinese watch and are happy with what they got, there's nothing wrong with that... Especially when there are channels like this one, out here, providing the information you need to make a solid purchase.
    But if a company like this is actively deceptive, or worse, a scam... it's disgusting. Thank you for continuing to expose dodgy companies like this one!

    • @TheXone7

      @1betterthanyou1 I personally own 2 Vincero watches, and they’ve never had issues yet (for the 4 months I’ve had them, so keep that in mind). I’m not going 2 say it’s high quality or that it cuts out the middle men, cuz it doesn’t, but I do like the way they look, and it operates good enough for me. The customer service is also good, the delivery dates are reliable, and it seems like the company is open about their product, even saying that the founders themselves moved to China, which is something that most companies don’t have the balls 2 do. It builds trust with the company, and it seems like said trust is being backed up by their more recent investments that u brought up. My only hope is that they rebrand from an “Affordable Luxury Watch” brand to a fashion watch brand, which is much more accurate

    • @allensu9363
      @allensu9363 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nah if you want a Chinese watch just get one on alibaba. When I was a kid and didn’t have too much money I loved getting cheap Chinese watches. There’s really nothing wrong with the quartz movement, even a $6 Chinese watch can be fairly accurate. The problem is when brands try to sell that $6 for $200 without making any changes.

    • @jasonluxemburg1989
      @jasonluxemburg1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly. They're appealing to a certain type of very sad person, who thinks that a watch is going to make them popular or cool or whatever. I for one don't buy watches to receive compliments - I'd honestly be happy for people to not speak to me. I buy them because I enjoy them.

    • @marcelo90z
      @marcelo90z 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Weird how people rarely talk about this as one of their shady advertisements points, or so I have seen. If someone comes to me just to compliment my watch, especially a complete stranger, I'd be scared shitless, because for sure it's a robber coming for me. I'd like a watch to look good, but being a robbery magnet would surely detour me away from buying one of those. I think only very insecure people would fall for that one, but considering how Filippo Loreti is still around, it's sad that using a cheap psychological trick like this would still make bucks for someone.

    What you said about people's reactions to watches is so true. I was a teacher and I would typically see my students twice a week. With my collection of 20-25 watches, I could go months without wearing the same watch to class. Guess what? NOBODY ever said anything! I don't think anyone even noticed. Obviously made in China, you overpay 100-300%. BUT at least you actually get a watch which works as a watch for your cash. This here is just a scam.

If these companies selling cheap chinese watches are so successfull marketing this garbage, wouldn't companies producing quality products like Seiko, Orient, Timex, Casio etc. demolish them with the same approach. @@mitchaelhollingsworth1698 Squale (like Panerai) is swiss constructed, but the HQ is in Italy (Squale in Milan, Panerai in Florence) :) Locman too is interesting. They are based in Elba island and opened the "Scuola Italiana Orologeria" (Italian school of horology) there, where they produce in-house movements (actually a date/time automatic and a chrono/time/date automatic in their Montecristo line). But they seriously need to giveaway the quartz based watches and reposition themselves when it comes to mechanical ones.
      About watchmaking, of course now Swiss is more regarded than nearly any other country for movements (even tho they started back then to fake UK/French movements, more or less like China does now with Swiss ones), Italians are more famous for the design and are very strong in more heavy mechanical stuff like aerospace and cars/bikes :) Each his own.

    I have been buying from Chinese manufacturers for 5 years. This is how they work.
    They make a production line and a design. They then try to take orders for future production runs. They take full payment first to pay for manufacturing overheads like materials, workers and even the factory rent.
    This means the company only has to invest 30% of production cost and they get there profit before the item has been made.

I complied, but when he saw it was a Filippo Loreti he got this thousand-yard stare, and his facial expression slowly changed. Suddenly his attention changed, and he looked right at me with the saddest eyes I have ever seen. He pulled out his wallet, handed me all his money and said: "Take it, brother. It's the least I can do." Then he slumped over and trudged away. Filippo Loreti saved my life, but I have a feeling it destroyed someone else's.
