I always thought that maybe Miss Hattie owed the bank of evil money. Like maybe she tried to make it as a villain but couldn't, and so left with an outstanding loan that was probably to pay for her building (formerly her secret lair), she opened an orphanage so she could claim taxes on it and get paid by the government, and then used it as a front to slowly pay back her loan through seemingly innocent acts such as selling cookies. That's why she's so insistent on the girls meeting their sales targets; the less they sell the longer she'll take to pay it back, and the more interest she'll owe.
We could do this very clever concept but that’ll take effort. Let’s just recreate shrek but take any clever comedy out with farts and instead of using relevant pop culture music just have some singer jumble some words together. That’ll be just as good as let it go right

I don’t mind if a voice actor has a different role but they make the second character sound completely different. With Lucy and Hattie there is absolutely no difference between the two. So what if Hattie and Lucy were actually the same exact person with Hattie being a disguise for Lucy. This would explain why she was so willing to work with Gru in the second movie and bonded with the girls so quickly. She already knew them but they didn’t know it because up to the point that the girls met Lucy they only knew her as Miss Hattie.
I don't remember Lucy having a southern accent. I actually didn't know Miss Hattie was also voiced by Kristen Wiig, I totally would have believed the voice actress looked like the character in real life.

The minions movie may have gone against some established things in the first despicable me movie, but arguably that doesn't matter. Minions although probably the weakest link in the franchise also greatly expands on the lore of the franchise we can see both a young Gru and a young Doctor Nefario. Also the theorizer pointed out in this video given how long the minions have been working with villains it's possible the bank of evil has been around for a lot longer then we think. Maybe they had something to do with Gru getting the minions in the first place.

I swear that in the first movie, Gru goes into Dr. Nefario’s lab, and on a wall in the lab there is a blue print that shows a minion on it. Since the new prequal for gru had been out for a while now, I have a odd theory about grus dad; what if his dad was killed off by the bank of evil to get revenge for vector being stuck on the moon and gru doing the moon heist than vector? And somehow made dru, grus brother think he died normally and had his memory erased so maybe gru won't know that the bank of evil killed his legendary dad or whatnot? Honestly as the Despicable Me franchise goes forward, I’m hoping the entire Gru Clan will go to Villainy. Clearly they don’t fit in nearly as well with the so-called “heroes”. Obviously Gru has a slightly different set of priorities now, but I still think the whole family would have more fun if they embraced the criminal life with open arms. It suits them far better.

It’s possible Herb can be Vector’s dad, because according to wiki fandom Herb was 42 and Scarlet was 41 in the minions movie. Therefore, in present day it shows Scarlet is 93, meaning Herb would be 94. Vector is in his 20s, meaning Scarlet and Herb would be in their 70s by the time Vector was born. It’s possible they gave Vector up for adoption and Mr. Perkins adopted him

Honestly as the Despicable Me franchise goes forward, I’m hoping the entire Gru Clan will go to Villainy. Clearly they don’t fit in nearly as well with the so-called “heroes”. Obviously Gru has a slightly different set of priorities now, but I still think the whole family would have more fun if they embraced the criminal life with open arms. It suits them far better.

It’s possible Herb can be Vector’s dad, because according to wiki fandom Herb was 42 and Scarlet was 41 in the minions movie. Therefore, in present day it shows Scarlet is 93, meaning Herb would be 94. Vector is in his 20s, meaning Scarlet and Herb would be in their 70s by the time Vector was born. It’s possible they gave Vector up for adoption and Mr. Perkins adopted him

In the Rise of Gru trailer kid, Gru steals something from apparently the "best super villains" but like 2 of the people who are the best supervillains are females but in Minions, Scarlet Overkill is known as the *first* female supervillain and those 2 movies take place basically at the same time because Gru is still a kid BUT HOW CAN SCARLETT BE THE FIRST FEMALE SUPERVILLAIN IF WE LITERALLY SAW LIKE 2 FEMALE SUPERVILLAIN'S IN THE TRAILOR and I'm pretty sure they mentioned that they had been villain's for years before
My question is: if illumination's goal is to make animated films as cheaply as possible, then why do the writers pay this much attention to these little details regardless of how painfully average their movies are? It's quite intriguing...

It pretty funny to think that if you put dramatic enough music then you can suggest that illumination are creating a shared universe when it is just as likely that they are just reusing actors and character models in order to save money, something which they have been known to do before
