I tried to imagine how Dragon Ball Super would have looked in the 90s, in the specific case, here it is a different twist on the first confrontation between Goku & Black!

Oh my mistake. That aside I much prefer the 90’s animation style for DBZ. Hell 90’s anime in general was just peak. I swear if I could go back to the late 90’s early 00’s and watch that Toonami lineup all over again I’d be so hyped. DBZ was my introduction to anime. I came in during the Namek arc and was hooked on it ever since. You remember all the other shows they’d air? Techi Muyo, Liger Zero, Gundam, Cyborg 009 just to name a few. Shit was lit.

This vibe fits Dragonball so much better...it’s actually heartbreaking to think how much better Super could have been if they didn’t treat it like a cashgrab children’s show for 2/3 of its runtime
Um their animations and art got better overtime, into the tournamen of power, sure the early dbs had a bad art and animation, but they got an improvement over time

Original DBZ had tension and mood and the sense that something legendary was about to go down. New DBS has speed and clean lines but there's no soul

Gotta say, that added darkening in his eyes gives more vibes of goku black rather then the super version.
The thing about that mascara really elevates the emotion of ones and we all k ow this is more perfect. U should have added god versions too

1:03 This style really captures the difference of Goku and Goku Black. Goku still has his innocence and Black just looks pure evil. WAY BETTER JOB at capturing this persona than Supers Animation did. In my opinion.

My only problem is that this seems to jump artstyles. From Saiyan saga to Buu saga art style and it kinda throws me off. But this is well made and I love it, dont get me wrong.

To be honest, if Super had been a true continuation of the DBZ series I might have actually liked it. Unfortunately too much time has passed since the end of DBZ and the production of Super.

I wanted to make it feel as close as possible to Z, so only regular SSJ transformations. But maybe i'll do rose in another video :P
