Yes, Mary! Not a competition! Everybody just doing the part they are perfectly suited for, for the wellbeing of the entire heavenly community! Such a relief to believe we'll be in that kind of world eventually!
True if you are ready to embrace change you can change your mind and aim for the higher level of heaven, everything in heaven is order and there's boundaries and you can start aiming for higher heaven when on earth by aligning our thoughts and feelings with the Angelic and act in wisdom love goodness and truth heavenly character. Thanks Curtis.
This episode reminds me of the book titled "Wonderer in the Spirit Lands". It's a testimony of a person who died and found himself in the lower realms in the spirit world. And after going through much trials and spiritual growth was able to move to the mid level heaven. ✨
Sounds good, but in reality his vibration had too match where he was or he wouldn't of been there. I like to say, build your vibration up while on earth, much easier.
This topic reminds me of when I first read Meher Baba talking about "unwinding samskaras" . At the time I understood it intellectually, but it didn't have a place in my experience. After listening today, it popped into my head that wanting to level up and be-more results in opportunities to unwind these samskaras, and we light-up and get on the radar to those ( angels?) who would help us learn and get ready for crossing a border/boundary. ....of course this could potentially take several lifetimes 😂 Good stuff here!! Thanks Curtis!
I actually wouldn't care where in heaven I end up as long as I get to go there and be in God's presence...I recently had a dream/ visit from a loved one and he said he was in waiting...I assumed something similar to purgatory...thanx Curtis and team always making us think, reflect and hope.
Glad you're finding these ideas worthy of pondering, BEYOND ME, and glad they can bring you some hope! That "waiting" sounds curious to me, although Swedenborg says there is a process we go through between our physical death and our finding our spiritual home. I imagine it to be a busy time of self-exploration and learning, but maybe there is some waiting time!
Makes me think of the four distinct tribes of Israel or steps on the stairway to heaven. These four represent the gradual progression inward of regeneration towards a conjunction with heaven. From knowing the sensual truth of Reuben to the internal love of Judah the wise person rises above their feeling self. Great job Curtis thanks for sharing
This is also 100% my experience of the afterlife. I have been places where I was like Helen Keller. I went there for important reasons, but it was only for a moment and I was given technology to help me. Also I have tried to access communities and felt very bad pain trying to connect to others with very different minds.
My experience is that we already live in worlds with boundaries, and we feel at home with those who share our world, our mindset, our values, our interests. If we wander into a different world, we feel bored, we feel shocked, we feel confused, we don't understand the language. I'm a retired teacher, so this also reminds me of children going through all the stages of learning. A 7 year old would likely not understand the language of an algebra class, not be able to understand the thinking. Kids are naturally attracted to other kids their own age. Put a couple of 2-year olds together and they are fascinated with each other. So life in heaven seems to be just a continuation of life on earth. We gravitate to those like us. But maybe the divine plan is for us to continually mature in heaven as on earth. On earth we need teachers to help us mature. We don't leave children to grow on their own. It makes sense that this would be true in heaven, that more advanced souls help the less mature souls to advance to greater understanding, to a higher expression of their potential. We all need avenues of service in whatever world we're in. Is it consistent with Swedenborg's thinking to see the various religions as "heavens"? People who are united in a particular religion share the same heavenly mindset, use the same heavenly language and see the world with the same eyes. They feel comfortable with each other. Did Swedenborg mention seeing different heavenly realms for Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, etc.? It seems that this could be a temporary condition to ease the transition for souls. It's great to see how your graphics are maturing, if that's the right word. It's all like magic to us old folks, but I'm sure it's all due to the educating influence of the great souls in the invisible realm. Insights and inspiration come from the heavenly realm, and we seem to be living at a time when everything is accelerating. It's so good to see you and hear your voice.
I really appreciate these thoughts, Harlan! Your first paragraph makes all kinds of sense to me (Chara) -- I, too, feel like this earth knows that feeling of "boundaries." And I love the thought of the more advanced souls helping even angels to find a higher expression of their potential! Yes, Swedenborg does talk about different religions being in different areas of heaven -- if I recall correctly, in terms of compass points. It might be in his book "Last Judgment" -- ??? (Sorry for the vagueness -- let me know if you want me to track it down!) I love your suggestion that this would be a temporary condition to help with the transition from earth to heaven. I imagine we can grow beyond the strict boundaries of various religious frameworks. And yes, things do change around here a lot! Glad you're liking our new look. "The educating influence of the great souls in the invisible realm" -- Love that idea! Swedenborg did learn that everything on earth has a cause in the spiritual world, but when it comes down to graphics and logistics of putting a show together, I hardly ever think in those terms! Great to hear YOUR voice again, Harlan, and thanks as always for adding to the conversation!
@@offTheLeftEye Thanks Chara for the information. My feeling is that every condition is temporary, that every condition stems from a previous condition, and in turn prepares the way for a newer condition, etc., just like our experience of life so far. God is the Possessor of all perfections, and we can only approach perfection in an infinite number of stages, and each stage should lead to a deeper feeling of humility in the Presence of the Ultimate Perfection. I hope I'm making sense. We tend to think of religions as we find them in the world today as the way it has always been. But the reality seems to be that all religions have always been in a state of flux. Not long ago, there was no Christianity, or Judaism or Buddhism, but people have always believed in a Creator called by many names. It seems logical that the experiences and knowledge which are in front of us in the next world will only lead to a broader, a more expansive realization of the Divine, and the religious labels of our earthly existence just won't fit the new heavenly reality. And so the Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. of this world probably are destined to eventually see themselves as one in the world to come. Baha'u'llah uses the term "Concourse on High" to describe the heavenly team of experts, so to speak, whose job is to oversee and influence the advancement of life on earth, the progress in the sciences and the arts. That seems to fit Swedenborg's ideas. And this is borne out in the experiences of mathematicians and scientists who receive solutions in dreams to problems they're working on, and composers of music who hear music in dreams which they then write down. And I suppose all of us may have this experience without knowing the origin of our ideas. I always enjoy the conversations on OTLE! They're always so positive and uplifting.
@@harlanlang6556 Thank you for all these interesting ideas. As for one state of life leading to the next, here is a passage from Swedenborg that I love. " ... a previous state is always like the egg in relation to the state that follows it, thus that there is a repeated occurrence of conception and birth. This is so not only when he lives in the world, but also when he enters the next life for ever. And even then he cannot be perfected beyond the point of being at the egg-stage so far as the limitless things to come are concerned. " Secrets of Heaven 4379. As for all the differences of religions disappearing in heaven here is a wonderful description of that in Secrets of heaven 1799. " In the Christian world it is doctrinal matters that distinguish churches; and from them men call themselves Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Calvinists, or the Reformed and the Evangelical, and by other names. It is from what is doctrinal alone that they are so called; which would never be if they would make love to the Lord and charity toward the neighbor the principal of faith. Doctrinal matters would then be only varieties of opinion concerning the mysteries of faith, which truly Christian men would leave to everyone to hold in accordance with his conscience, and would say in their hearts that a man is truly a Christian when he lives as a Christian, that is, as the Lord teaches. Thus from all the differing churches there would be made one church; and all the dissensions that come forth from doctrine alone would vanish; yea, all hatreds of one against another would be dissipated in a moment, and the Lord’s kingdom would come upon the earth." Sorry if this is too long!
@@offTheLeftEye It's not too long. Thanks so much. Swedenborg is saying the same thing as I am, and I believe that this new stage of understanding is actually growing among people. The old thinking came from a feeling of elitism, of exclusiveness. The new thinking is inclusive of all, regardless of opinions. I love how Swedenborg allowed for people to live according to the dictates of their own conscience, and not submitting to the opinions of priests or kings. This is also the teaching of Baha'u'llah, to investigate reality independently. We need to see with our own eyes, understand with our own minds, hear with our own ears. Most churches seem to have a catechism of "correct" answers to all questions. I remember as a teen reciting a particular creed every Sunday in church, "We believe....." and thinking to myself, but never feeling free to say it out loud, "I'm not sure I believe this." So I felt like a fake Christian, not believing what I was told a true Christian should believe. I assumed that everybody else believed the creed, but my guess now is that many of them felt the same as I did. Or maybe I was just odd. Swedenborg was so far ahead of the Christian leaders of his day, that he must have felt truly isolated. Today's church leaders are not much different. Those who begin thinking like Swedenborg end up outside of the church. Is this what you see?
@@harlanlang6556 Thanks for your observations about how we as a society may be progressing. I do hope and pray that we are more inclusive, and yet elite. I hear you about rote recitations that may not express our true beliefs. There does come a time when each person has to truly evaluate whether they agree. I do not think you are odd in that way. Yes Swedenborg did feel isolated, I think, in his spiritual awakening. He risked a lot by publishing his books.
It's Curtis and other dear ones. I'm slowly being won over to this. What's the catch, what's the agenda.... There must be a catch. All this juicy awesome information that can't really be found anywhere else. Most of organized "religion" dares not ask most of these questions, let alone seek answers bless all hearts!! It makes sense God would give us the answers because All who seek, find. All who knock, the door is opened. All who thirsts for righteousness are filled(what the definition of it is)!! You know, that word for "ALL" in Greek means "ALL". =•• just saying....
The Greek word for all = panta. So GoodWolf, you're saying that it's true that ALL who seek will find, etc? I can get on board with that, because God is pulling for all of us, all the way! We have no catch, no agenda. We offer these ideas from the amazing spiritual experiences of Emanuel Swedenborg back in the 1700s because they have helped us better understand and cope with life. Swedenborg was a brilliant and accomplished scientist and statesman from Sweden. After an intense period of Bible study, self-examination, prayer, and repentance, he claims to have been called by Jesus Christ to see directly into the spiritual world, and to undergo the *experience* of dying (while still alive) just to share that knowledge with the world. He was the first to admit that people would find that very hard to swallow! And he then spent almost 30 years in open communication with the spiritual world. If you're curious about Swedenborg and his background and credentials, we have a short video called "Who Was Swedenborg?" - th-cam.com/video/HEa0e8AcS78/w-d-xo.html, and a longer one called "Was Swedenborg Crazy?" -- th-cam.com/video/K_ZP30NFYf8/w-d-xo.html. Maybe some that seems like "the catch." We just know that what he learned helps us understand God, the Bible, our neighbor, and the purpose of life better. Blessings to you!
Curtis, wow, thanks, once again, for speaking to my heart. I love your light-hearted view of life. I am lifted up today. And thanks, Carin, for that glimpse into the possibility of growth in heaven. It's good to know that there's no 'ceiling', that I am fixed to my neighborhood from the moment I arrive there. Of course, it is also intriguing to think that I could be perfectly happy for all eternity in the home I live in from my first days in heaven - so foreign to the human condition of constant struggle and striving. You all are inspiring every time I visit!
Yes having a home perfectly suited to us is a wonderful idea. It is core to what many of us long for. We are delighted that this video speaks to you lengnauer.
We think that we are in heaven, but we are living in hell. That explains closing my eyes is different from opening them perhaps...🤔 Glad that ☆🌟Swedenborg 🌟☆ makes sense of all of the nonsense. Live Life & Love Life ❣️🫂❣️ Wonderful & Beautiful day's ahead Y'all.
First level: You just agree to be a good person, but you don't think much about it. Second level: You try to understand what it is to be good, so you go beyond superficiality and have a more philosophical nature. Third level: At this point you don't try to have control over your life, you just let your intuition (God within) guide you. You have a very deep conection to your intuition and your God within. Is that correct?
That sounds like a fair generalization, Josué. I suspect, though, that it is more complex than our earthly, time-and-space-bound minds can absorb. Swedenborg tells us we can't even judge our own spiritual state!
Thanks for the positive idea of boundaries. As a woman, many times, I have felt (socially conditioned) to have to accept others' boundaries, not setting my own. Have this idea of boundaries is empowering. ❤

@@offTheLeftEye :) Because freedom, yes. I think the reason I'm still smiling so wide from this a day later, though, is the unassuming yet altogether unapologetic delivery. A simple matter of fact. The material merits repetition. (Takes new form each time even.) Makes me really happy.
Hello and thank you for all of your time and effort. These videos are a blessing. I was wondering if you guys have ever made a video with the correspondences in Leviticus....priesthood, food laws, feasts etc. Thank you 😊 Or if you could point me in the right direction to read up on it.
We're delighted to hear that these ideas have been a blessing to you, Matt. I don't think we've made a dedicated video about the book of Leviticus. And the only books of the Bible that Swedenborg went through and explained verse by verse were Genesis, Exodus, and Revelation. But I can direct you to newchristianbiblestudy.org, which could help you. Once there, look at the top menu bar and choose Tools, then Research Tools, then scroll down to Indexes/Glossaries, then choose "General Index to Swedenborg's Scripture Quotations." (This is commonly referred to in Swedenborgian circles as "Searle's Index.") Once there, you can enter "Leviticus" in the general search bar, and verse by verse, it will show you what Swedenborg may have said about each verse. Sometimes the references are very general, or may just be part of a list of many passages that refer to "hand" (for example) -- so not all the results will be satisfyingly fruitful. But that's how you can chase down Swedenborg's own writings about Leviticus! Good luck in your pursuit!
Hello Curtis, Good video. Has I listen to you describe the mental and physical change people go through as the rise up the different levels of heaven. It reminded me of the chakra system the Buddhist speak of so much. Do you think two idea may be connected in some way? Thank You!! PS. Don't feel bad. It snowed here last week and it's supposed to be Spring?? 😄
Yes Randy -- This idea does seem to be parallel to the whole idea of chakras. I just love hearing about true ideas that are conceived of in various ways in different faith traditions and cultures and eras -- it really seems to confirm the TRUTH of them, no matter what language or terminology they use. As Curtis pointed out in one of these recent episodes, lots of faith traditions ascribe to some idea of LEVELS -- and the chakra concept seems to fit into that category. As for snow -- in our neck of the woods, I like to give it till the second week of April until I'm convinced we won't possibly have any more snow. Only about ten days to go!
Interesting! So we will be able to see loved ones who are in a different location in heaven. I suppose that even inside these levels there are angels who are more inward and others who are more outward, right? I read somewhere in Swedenborg that he speaks about angels who are more proeminent and others who are more like common folks. Wouldn't it be better to have a rock star status as a natural angel, than to be just an ordinary spiritual angel? Some questions still left unanswered. I guess we'll have to die and find out.....
That's right, Josué -- we'll all find out eventually! But I'd love for all us humans to give up the notion that there's a "better" or "worse" place to be in heaven. Being a natural-level rock star would NOT be better for the ordinary spiritual angel, nor vice versa. Having kidney cells in our thyroid gland would NOT be helpful. Swedenborg asserts that we will all be exactly where we need to be, to be the best contribution to society that we can be -- and THAT will bring our highest possible happiness.
One of the best NDE's I've heard , talked about getting to the heavenly realm after being released from a hell area..The young woman who had the NDE was angry that she was told she couldn't stay in the beautiful place and she lashed out with her nails to the woman messenger. Instantly a wall went up before she could connect and she was sent back. I like that there is that boundary and bad intentions can't get through it. :)
Another fabulous episode, many thanks indeed. One question, what happens when your soulmate comes to meet you in heaven but they are on one level and you are on another.
Glad you enjoyed this one, Martin. Swedenborg says that married partners do meet again after death, and if they can/want to stay together, they do. Otherwise, they move on to find their true partners. I suppose that if you are on different levels of heaven, you're not true eternal partners. But it will work out in everyone's best interest!
Look up Hospice Nurses (Deathbed visions) , who see people off to the spirit world. People who are dying see their families come to get them..and pets. The stories from these nurses will comfort you.
Many people do, Jennifer. Recently I attended a Death Cafe, which is simply a way to start the conversation. You can look it up, they are popping up around.
Did you hear the end part, Mary, about how it's possible to get together with people on another level if we're properly prepared? I trust that it will all make perfect sense when we're there, and somehow it will work out to be able to enjoy being with our loved ones even if we have different home addresses, so to speak. Our limited minds have a hard time imagining it, but there is much about the spiritual plane that we can't yet fathom!
another words, in his perfection, God would never be thinking/feeling blaaaah,I soooo don't feel like cleaning the cat's litter box, blaaah, why can't I just read Swedenborgs books all day? God would be, in his perfection, I looooove having cats, therefore I loooove cleaning litterboxes, and I loooove that nobody can smell cats when entering my house, and the cat's are so sweet to have around, but me not perfection, so blaaaah. does this mean I will not make angel in the next world? blaaaah. even though I'm still cleaning the darn box. even though blaaaah
Oh this made me laugh, Always Learning. Perfection is a state reserved for God alone. The rest of us have eternity to keep learning and growing. Not loving cleaning out a litterbox is not something that will keep you out of heaven. Wanting to take in spiritual nourishment is a good sign (to me) that you'll be great heaven material. Things of this world can be weighty and challenging and full of blaaaah. It's cultivating love (for the Lord and the neighbor) and finding ways to be useful to others and looking for the good in others that will build our spirits to be a good fit in heaven. And loving your cat in the meantime, even when you have to clean the litterbox, is a nice feature of the journey.
Curtis terrific video as alwasys but a question if you see this. the mass shooting in Tennasee it was a femals what happens do you think to a soul that murdered so many people when they cross over? it cant be the same thing a soul that spent their entire life being good and happy ?
This question is shared by so many people, nicholas! Swedenborg makes the amazing claim that he was given the experience of dying (while he was still alive), so that people could learn about it. From his experience, it sounds like all people are immediately surrounded by the highest angels of heaven, as they transition from this world to the next. It is kind of an unconscious time for the dying person, it sounds like. Eventually, they come back into their own mind, into a state like they were in on earth. Then they go through a period of life review, education, purification, etc, a time of taking a look at the motivations and intentions behind their actions. I don't know any details about the Tennessee shooting, and it is just so heartbreaking -- but only God knows what was going on in the heart of that person. Maybe she was under the influence of something that had her not acting rationally; maybe she was obeying voices in her head; who knows what was going on. I am not excusing the behavior, I'm just saying that on a spiritual level, that is between each person and God. And God doesn't punish people; each person decides who they truly want to be at their core, what they care about most -- and when they are clear about that, their heart leads them to an environment in the spiritual world that matches their inner heart, be it in heaven or in hell. It's hard to wrap our earthly minds around that idea. The idea that we are in spiritual freedom. But we ARE kind of building our spirit while we are on this earth. But whatever we do without full rationality "doesn't count," so to speak. It is when we are acting in freedom, in line with our ability to reason, that our spirit gets built. Don't know if that helps, but there are a few thoughts.
We happen to have a couple of videos about that, Maureen-Paul. Perhaps it's just semantics, Clare. In Swedenborg's years of spiritual interaction with the other world, he learned that angels all used to be people on this physical level -- people who had chosen to follow love and truth. Many people see angels as a whole separate "race" or something, but in Swedenborg's cosmology, "Angels R Us" if we choose to cultivate a heavenly mindset.
@@offTheLeftEye There are angelic orders of pre-human intellects and human messengers (angels in the literal meaning of messengers). Swedenborg's sense of order and saintly development is very useful.
Hi Janet -- The purpose of our channel is to share what Emanuel Swedenborg learned and wrote about back in the 1700s. Transgender issues are not a topic he wrote about. Swedenborg's focus is on our INNER self, our spirit, who God is, and how we can build a relationship with God. Hope you'll find another channel to give you a useful discussion on the topic.
@@offTheLeftEye I wonder if I can help. I have seen alot of christian sites bringing this up and quoting Deuteronomy. The subject is about boundaries concerning Adam and Eve. Symbolically. The text is saying be what you are and qhat your supposed to be to fulfill the purpose of creation. In the camp of Isreal, God needed everyone to play their part in his plan. The deeper part explaines that your mind as mentioned in the program is extension of the original creation because Eve has children who have children eyc. We are a collection of thought. Eve is like the higher awarness who is a bridge between Gods higher thought and Adam. Adam is the lower awareness that acts out the ideas and concepts of the higher mind. When we see, or become aware of the ideas in action around us, we learn by watching what happens in our reality. When Eve falls, she creates thought within Adam. Adam holds all the energy and so rules Eve. Chaos. Boundries overlap because our world is in confusion. Eve should give information to Adam and Adam play out truths given to him. Adam takes from Eve as he holds power. In the end its a power struggle in the evolution of the mind. If two people join together in love, good. This is really about thought joining each other. If part of the mind does not like or accept the corresondance it has been given, that is the physical, it will seek comfort where it feels comfortable. Sexuality in itself is not love. Sexuality allows the action of extending thought or giving birth to life which creates thought in the new life. Your own minds thought will like and dislike what it does and thinks. You choose or desire thoughts and outcomes. Everyone and thing is in a process of working out and understanding itself on our level. I will leave this now in the moderators hands if inappropriate. I wish you all well.

So glad it touched your heart, Elizabeth!
just saying....
If you're curious about Swedenborg and his background and credentials, we have a short video called "Who Was Swedenborg?" - th-cam.com/video/HEa0e8AcS78/w-d-xo.html,
and a longer one called "Was Swedenborg Crazy?" -- th-cam.com/video/K_ZP30NFYf8/w-d-xo.html.
Maybe some that seems like "the catch." We just know that what he learned helps us understand God, the Bible, our neighbor, and the purpose of life better. Blessings to you!

Once there, look at the top menu bar and choose Tools,
then Research Tools,
then scroll down to Indexes/Glossaries,
then choose "General Index to Swedenborg's Scripture Quotations." (This is commonly referred to in Swedenborgian circles as "Searle's Index.")
Once there, you can enter "Leviticus" in the general search bar, and verse by verse, it will show you what Swedenborg may have said about each verse. Sometimes the references are very general, or may just be part of a list of many passages that refer to "hand" (for example) -- so not all the results will be satisfyingly fruitful. But that's how you can chase down Swedenborg's own writings about Leviticus! Good luck in your pursuit!
Thank you so much :)

Yes part of what angels do is to protect us, and I am grateful for that. Thanks for the comment Rachelli.

Don't know if that helps, but there are a few thoughts.
but by the grace of God there go I

Perhaps it's just semantics, Clare. In Swedenborg's years of spiritual interaction with the other world, he learned that angels all used to be people on this physical level -- people who had chosen to follow love and truth. Many people see angels as a whole separate "race" or something, but in Swedenborg's cosmology, "Angels R Us" if we choose to cultivate a heavenly mindset.
