Hi we are expats living in Lyon, planning to visit Annecy with a 7 year old and baby this coming December, what are the activities you’d recommend? Xmas markets is the priority but what else? Thanks!

You seem to enjoy Savoyard dishes. A piece of advice, try the berthou. It is a typical dish from the Abondance valley which is prepared with Abondance cheese which has a particular taste. You can find it further north in the department, in the Chablais or the Abondance valley, elsewhere it's more raclette, tartiflette, diots au crozets.
Something to impress your friends, if you go to Magland it's near Cluses, on the road to Chamonix stop in one of the only two delicatessens that make MAGLAND sausage, it's little known but excellent.

Help info thanks! I'm curious if you know of anywhere near Annecy that I can take my kids (3 under 6 years old) to go sledding? I'm thinking skiing and snowboarding might be too hard for them but sledding would be fun! Would need to either buy some sleds or rent them. Thanks!

Semnoz is a great place for sledding especially because it's very close to Annecy! They have a dedicated area for kids to sled :) you can also hire sleds there too !

Did you like snails and frog legs?
Not all French people like that, you know. It's one of the many clichés about our country.

Very much so! But, like you say it is a cliché and I've spoken to some French friends who don't like them. Personally, frogs are my favourite
