  • There are many more benefits but these are just a few, this past year of living barefoot has been very rewarding to me it's helped me reconnect with what's most important. I don't think i'll ever be able to go back to wearing shoes.

    Stopped wearing shoes when I was about fourteen; I'm now twenty-three. I'd highly (haha) recommend it! Keep it up... it's so good for your feet, :-)

  • @mindycat1972
    @mindycat1972 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    for those times when you do need shoes, it helps keep your feet strong and flexible by wearing minimal support shoes - no heel lift, no arch support, wide, high toebox, flexible bottoms, etc. you won't get the "earthing" benefit(which you don't get from snow or indoor flooring anyway), but your feet won't atrophy like in stiff shoes.

    • @jeyomcnugget9584
      @jeyomcnugget9584 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What shoes would you recommend? Like vibrams?

    • @mindycat1972
      @mindycat1972 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Jeyo McNugget sure. I like regular old converse too, and then I have some rope-soled sandals for summer. minimal arch support isn't usually too hard to find, it's finding unrestrictive toe boxes(I've worn men's shoes most of my life for this reason) and zero or negative heel lift that's really challenging. theres a woman named Katie bowman(her website and youtube is nutritious movement, and her blog is Katie says) who has compiled a list I think of good shoes. she also talks about ways to prepare the feet for being barefoot, if you're coming from a lifetime of stiff restrictive shoes, like most of us "civilized" folks.

      +Unidentified New Horizon absolutely not. If you wear shoes all your life it makes your feet move in ways that are not natural.

    • @mindycat1972
      @mindycat1972 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Unidentified New Horizon no. all that does is cause the muscles and tendons in your feet to stiffen and atrophy. our feet are designed to move and accommodate different textures and surfaces.

    I've been barefoot for about 4 or 5 years , other than going into buildings and stuff obviously . But I just keep a pair of flip flops in my bag and if my friends and I are going somewhere I'll be like "do I need shoes for this?" And i think being barefoot is so lovely like you said; and even this year at my school I would take my shoes off and leave them in my locker while I go to class and I loved it ! I got in trouble some times so I'd have to go get them but by the end of the year I think most of my teachers were cool with it

    Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolise a way of living - being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath our toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature.

    i always walk bare footed because i hate socks and i hate shoes because i want to be closer to nature, it's more natural to be walking around with your feet touching the living earth, and i think it's amazing. but i remember the first couple of weeks of walking bare footed my feet were covered in blisters. i had massive blisters on my heels from them rubbing against tarmac or pavement. which then made me grateful for the massive fields of wilderness i have behind my house, which me walking bare footed on thankfully doesn't resolve with me covered in blisters, but there's streams and fields with bright yellow plants and it's beautiful. and to then walk around feeling all this underneath my feet it's amazing

    I live in Scotland and where I live, there's glass EVERYWHERE! So I don't know if I'll be able to go barefoot. I go barefoot in the house/ garden and with my friends but I go school so I can't be barefoot :( We're forced to wear trainers and the trainer's I have are a size too small. I did ask my teachers if I can buy new school shoes (we need to buy shoes there :/ ) but she said no.... I just threw the shoes in the bin in her office and walked out... got sussed but it was worth it :)

    I went hiking barefooted recently. It was a lot of sharp rocks and things, but i could feel the earth breathing under me, and i could feel every bit of mud and dirt. Since then, I've been going barefoot more. And i love it! Seeing you go barefoot all the time inspired me to try it, so thank you.

    i love this, i too don't wear shoes where ever i don't have to, ever since i was little, as a women who loves earth being bear foot only made me discover that faster, it brought a sense of consciousness to my mind without me knowing. it grounds you with every step and charges your own energy helping to keep chakras in line, it walk slower and be present, notice, question things, digging into dirt or grass with my toes is weirdly my favorite thing to do

    Hey Jason I'm 15 almost 16 and I love walking barefoot every once in a while while I'm walking home from school, in nature, or at home; basically anywhere I get the chance because I've always hated the idea of wearing socks and shoes but I have yet to walk in dirt or mud, or on rocks. I'm too scared but I definitely want to try it when I start backpacking or sooner. Everyone always tells me I shouldn't walk barefoot because it's not good but since I started walking barefoot on different terrain and more often my back problems and such things have disappeared and I feel so much more connected to the earth so thanks for letting me know that this is completely healthy and beneficial

    I would love to go barefoot! But i am still in school and also over tge summer i work on a building side where barefooting is a very bad idea! i have to wear safety shoes ofc. i do go on walks barefoot tho! i have a lot of problems with not stepping on slugs. i mean i also dont step on them with shoes on but it seems harder to avoid that when youre barefoot for some reason. this summer holiday (which started today!) i will have my cousins dog around me everyday bc she lives in a city and her dad, my uncle is gonna have the dog over the summer. and i will be living at my uncles for a month sooo. im excited for a lot of barefoot exploring with the dog!

  • @charlotteschroder358
    @charlotteschroder358 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I don't know if it just looked like it on the video, you may already do this, but you should really try the natural way of walking (it basically means that you don't go from the heel to the toes but the other way around). it takes some practice and it may feel wierd in the beginning, because we've been forced into shoes with stiff soles and lost the ability to walk naturally, but once you get back into that habit that was your natural instinct when you were born, it just feels good and is healthier for the body!
    you can look up videos from Peter Scholten for example, but there are also lots of other people providing information on the topic, there's been a lot of research done on this. Maybe you'll think of trying it, I can only recommend it for you.

    the top soil contains loose energy from the earth, so when you walk barefoot, your body can actually absorb the extra energy.
    also, the earth has a "breathing" frequency, so when your out in nature long enough, your body adjusts and resonates with that frequency. so essentially, you're breathing with the earth.

    Flipflops hurt and I live like very close to Amsterdam. It would be a very bad idea to walk barefoot for me haha, but it's nice to see all the comments of people who do. I think it does make you closer connected to earth!

    I always wanted to be like my Dad and he'd never wear shoes. I live in the Australian bush and have a holiday house at the beach. I never wore shoes unless I HAD to, my feet were so tough I never felt pain. People would always wonder why it didn't hurt but for me it was the norm. My feet aren't as tough now, but I still go for walks barefoot when I can

    I go barefoot as much as possible and I keep a pair of sandals in my backpack so whenever I need to go inside somewhere I just wear them.

    Barefoot walking you absorb the energies from the earth which is good for your body's energy! I love it, being partially Indian we barefoot quite a bit. 🙂

    I try to walk barefoot, as much as possible. I walk everywhere in my yard barefoot. It's fun, I like it when it's been a really hot day, and then it rains the ground is squishy and warm and I love walking across moss it's so soft 😊🍄🌈👾🌼❤

    I walk bare foot as much as I can, but I can't all the time because I have to go to school etc. Shoes also are never the right shape for my feet either, and have to wear them loads for them to be comfortable, which I don't like doing either way.

      You can't walk around barefoot in schools anyway, it's a public building so they wouldn't allow that. But you could still walk around barefoot outside and in your house. :)

      Lucky me. In a lot of schools in Sweden you need to take your shoes off. But the school I go to now you can kinda do whatever and I get picked on anyways so I just go for it ^~^

      Lucky for me, my school is a large collection of buildings, and a lot of the teachers are pretty chill, so there aren't any hallways and the only way to get from class to class is outside, so I walk around barefoot for hours at a time and my friends have just stopped questioning it😂 I especially love it when it rains, since the ground is colder and lots of other people walk around barefoot too. And it rains a lot in the summer here, since I live in Florida.

    when i was middle school i would come to school in flip flops and when i got to my locker i would take them off and put them in my locker for the rest of the day and just walk around bare foot all school. Some teachers would ask and tell me to put them on, but being the badass middle schooler i was, i never did. the whole year i want barefoot. pretty chill. lol

    Only issue I have with being barefoot is the fact that concrete here in Texas is literally over 100°F when the weather is like 90°, it makes it impossible especially since I live in a large city.

    I love being barefoot and I am whenever I can, but in the summer the ground is burning hot and hard to walk on:(. And there's not a lot of nature where I live, which kinda sucks. But it's amazing when it rains here; everything is cold and wet and it feels really good. :)

    I don't have a dog to come on walks with me, so when i'm going exploring in the woods by myself, passers by look at me like 'what are you doing?' and i feel really awkward :/
