There is no debt issue here. A Chinese company failed to perform its own part of a deal and the contract was terminated after several years of the government waiting for the Chinese company to fulfill its obligations as stipulated in the contracts. The Chinese company went behind Nigeria to secure a judgement based on fraudulent misrepresentation of the facts in the hooe of squeezing juicy amounts of money out of the Nigerian government . The judgement will be overturned as it is based on fraud.

@@charleschin6497It appears that you did not listen to this news.
The Nigerian government has NO contractual agreement with the company.
The company had an agreement with the government of one of the 36 states/sub-national regions. Even the leadership of this sub-national region/state stated that their contractual agreement ended in 2015!

But why should France allow that in their soil?. I hope it's realised Nigeria is still one of the few countries in west Africa that still seem to favour them.

It's no different from what the West is doing.
The West only does it covertly by holding the economy of the indebted nation to ransom.

Giving money to these third world countries is like gambling with a cheater knowing your money is surely gone.
Be smart, don't invest money in these third world countries.

Chinese companies, government have no time for Shenanigans that African government are used to.
If you go into agreement with them.
Fulfil it or never ask for a contract with them.
Africans government should learn to grow up when it comes to signing multilateral contracts.
Nigerians political leaders and senior government officials at the federal and state levels in particular are known for defaulting in their contractual obligations.
They have no respect for their poor electorate who voted them into public office so the federal government and state government in Nigeria take this ROUGH PLAY to the international scene.
P & IDs which involved the late Petroleum Minister, Rilwanu Lukeman which Nigeria narrowly escaped paying a huge money for a contract that never really existed should have taught many government leaders in Nigeria the need to amend their ways and play clean.
It was the past government of President Muhammadu Buhari in Nigeria went and challenged the judgement and upturn the fraudulent contract thereby saving Nigeria and its poor Nigerians tax payers a huge millions of dollars that would have been used to settle the litigating company.
